Ashlee Simpson - I Am MeAfter that SNL performance, many doubted that the younger of Simpsons would ever reclaim the success and credibility she reached with her debut album.

Returning from rock bottom, with not only the blonde barnet, is "I Am Me", a collection of rock-pop tunes, in the hope of not just improving Simpson's public profile, but your spirits too.

Lead single "Boyfriend" is just a taster of what's in store, with hardly any filler and the majority of songs single-worthy.

Up-tempo tracks, such as "L.O.V.E.", "Bruning Up", and "Coming Back For More", will get your toes tapping, while the slower "Beautifully Broken", "Say Goodbye" and "Catch Me When I Fall" show Ashlee singing her emotions to a beautiful tee.

Tracks slightly reminiscent to those featured on a certain Kelly Clarkson album, include title track "I Am Me", "In Another Life" and "Eyes Wide Open".

It turns out that while the voice is hardly mind-blowing on its own, teamed with tunes like this, it ceases to matter.
