Released: 14th November 2005.
Liberty X's second single of 2005 arrives in time to continue the line that was drawn by "Song 4 Lovers". Another great track, "A Night To Remember" is slightly reminiscent of "Got To Have Your Love" with its light 80s feel in an up to date pop effort. The production is really nice and, although the lyrics are a little clichéd, the whole impression is very positive. An ideal follow up to one of the highlights of the autumn, this should hand the band another well deserved Top 10 hit.
The original version of this song was recently brought back into the public consciousness after Shalamar performed it on (and nearly won) ITV's "Hit Me Baby One More Time" competition. One can only assume that's where the idea of Liberty X covering this came from. In theory, the boy-girl vocals of the original make this an ideal track for Liberty X to cover. In practice, however, it comes off as little more than a karaoke-by-numbers cover version, offering little over the original. It's still a great song, don't get me wrong, but there's just a hint of wasted potential here. Nevertheless, as it's this year's Children In Need charity single, a big hit is still likely.
