This album is easily my favourite of hers, This Time a stand out, though Again isn't far behind

"If" is easily the best song on this album. I actually didn't like this at first because I was so much into the Rhythm Nation 1814 album and The Velvet Rope album, that I overlooked this album and the songs were not as instant as the other two albums I mentioned. TVR I got first because it was critically acclaimed and the RN1814, I got second because it was also critically acclaimed so I always had mixed feelings for the janet album as I never thought that it was as good as the other two. How wrong was I. I grew to really love this album. It is now my third and sometimes second favourite along with RN1814 and TVR.Madonna......Rihanna....Beyonce....Michael...Janet....Prince...Mariah...WhitneyComment

1. Morning Intro
2. That's The Way Love Goes
3. You Want This
4. If
5. This Time
6. Throb
7. What'll I Do
8. Funky Big Band
9. Racism Interlude
10. New Agenda
11. Because of Love
12. Again
13. Where Are You Now
14. The Body That Loves You
15. Any Time, Any Place
16. Are You Still Up Interlude
17. Whoops Now (Hidden Track)
This would have been a much more attractive tracklisting. Some of the interludes could easily just be attached to the song (You Know You Want Me, I'm giving you back) and a lot of them are just unnecessary (Love Pt. 2, Wind).Comment

Whoops Now had no place on this album at all, as a hidden track or otherwise. I don't mind its fun, bubblegum mindlessness for what it is, but it sounds totally out of place.
I think this album was where Janet explored a diverse range of musical genres the most. There's still a lot to discover on it even after being familiarised with it. It was released at her commercial peak but I think out of 'the big four' it seems to get less respect and consideration than Control, Rhythm Nation or The Velvet Rope.Comment

I had never expected Whoops Now to be released as a single.
However, as it was a favorite of mine, I was so happy when it did get a single release.
I prefer the album version though.
Funny thing was that a friend of mine was upset the song was not on the album.
So I asked her if she had ever listened to the end of the cd.
She hadn't...Mariah - Madonna - Debbie Gibson - CĂ©line Dion - Lara Fabian - Linda Eder - Janet Jackson - Whitney HoustonComment

It was the biggest international hit after TTWLG, so I guess it was wise to put it on the international editionComment

"Whoops Now" was a decent hit in many countries. No. 1 in New Zealand, Top 5 in France, Top 10 in the UK, Belgium, Austria...
The song is not on American version of the collection.
