    Hello,

I've been searching the web for some information on this short lived chart from the 1980's and was wondering if anybody has a week by week #1 for the chart. I know 1985 and 1986 are on Google Books but there's still a ton missing from 1987-1990.

Joel Whitburn's yearbooks will list the #1's in his fashion, but I only have 1989....

I'm also curious to know how well catalog items did on these charts. CD's only accounted for a third of all album sales by the end of the 1980's, so its possible that older albums did well in this department despite not shifting as much when combined with LP's and cassettes.

Would like to bump this thread.

I do have a question concerning Billboard's inclusion of CD sales on the Billboard 200. Which issue did this become effective? The first real reference that I'm seeing is the November 14, 1987 issue. Paul Grein comments about how well "Abbey Road" managed to re-enter the charts due to compact disc sales being included. I would have expected some sort of highlight box somewhere in that issue or the previous ones but nothing from what I see.

The first issue of "Top Pop Albums" that mentions CD's is February 2, 1985.
The footer note of the chart now additionally says: "(CD) Compact Disc available".
Unknown, whether CD sales at this point are included or not.

I do not know from 27 to 30, too.
But according to Whitburn's Music year book, 28 is Exposure-Exposé.

    Hey!

Thanks for filling in the gaps there. It’s been a little while since I started this thread, but if you would like to provide positions to the titles, you may. I’m assuming the oldest titles to ever make this list were those first 4 Beatle albums. Not sure if Elvis titles ever made it or not, would you know?

    Thanks.

    Some interesting numbers there.
The Billboard 200 did not include CD sales into the formula until September 1987.... but imagine if it did.

Sgt. Pepper may have charted a little higher than its re-entry in that case.
