Spotify monthly listeners covers the last 30 days. So basically, all March.
Don’t know what’s the source for that guy in ATRL, but it seems a bit strange that Whitney, having almost 2 million more monthly listeners, has less streams.
Are monthly listeners reseted at the beginning of a month? I don't know, i always thought they were overall average number during whole this time...

    Here is the source

He did it on March 2nd
    35 Madonna 1.23 M 595.7 K
    36 Mariah Carey 1.19 M 669.7 K
    37 Whitney Houston 1.18 M 678.1 K

    March 6th
    35 Madonna 1.15 M 542.5 K
    36 Mariah Carey 1.12 M 623.9 K
    38 Whitney Houston 1.09 M 625.5 K

ChartData on Twitter also started using his numbers, and he claims that this is for whole catalog on SPotify
    https://atrl.net/forums/topic/121445-da ... le/?page=3

I am not surprised by Whitney's monthly listeners (since she's obviously dead), but outside of very few songs, her catalog is overall not used as much as Mariah's or Madonna's who have more singles and most importantly albums that public consumes.

Last year when i counted numbers for all ladies (in May) i was surprised to see her with not much songs with over 10m streams.

Her biggest song, gaining 0.5 million plays on a free video streaming platform accessed by more than a billion people each week does not mean anything as relates to Spotify.

That's a good story but I've never seen someone comment that.
Oh please, let's not play games here
You know damn well it was said plenty of times, you just don't care.

All I Want For Christmas Is You Monthly Views:

    2017/01 5,121,373
    2017/02 1,564,614
    2017/03 1,350,193

The Xmas after-effect is obviously present in January, hence why Mariah still receives a slight boost in Jan.

Spotify monthly listeners figure changes everyday because it covers the last 30 natural days. So today’s figures cover each artist’s listeners from 5 March to 4 April.

According to that guy he knows the figures because:

-do you have a link to check daily streams & listeners of an artist ?
-Only if a verified artist on spotify gives you access. I happen to have a friend who puts music on spotify

And I really doubt it... I do have access to Spotify Artists because of my job and you can see listeners, countries where a song is been streamed, daily, weekly, monthly streams, each playlist where a song is included, followers, graphics... but ONLY of those artists you ask Spotify to have access to. And you have to prove to be that artist or someone who works for/with them. You don’t have access to every single artist’s info and figures...
    https://artists.spotify.com

So, I don’t know where is he getting those figures from...

Anyway, if they’re true, Whitney’s listeners are a lot more because more people listen to her music, but less of her songs. Less people listen to Madonna each month, but those who listen to her do it multiple times or to more songs.

There’s two ways to see this:
-If compared to the sales era, it’s the listeners what matters because it equals the number of different people going to a shop or downloading music. No matter how many times they listened to that music they purchased afterward. 1 person = 1 sale.
-But in the streaming era, streams are counted, not listeners. It doesn’t matter if a single person streams the same song many times, because those streams are counted. So it’s the number of streams what counts.

    Everybody wins, I guess.

Madonna’s Immaculate Collection to be reissued on 180g 2LP vinyl
    http://www.superdeluxeedition.com/news/ ... 2lp-vinyl/
April 15, 2018 by Paul Sinclair

Madonna‘s first greatest hits set, 1990’s The Immaculate Collection will be reissued on double vinyl in June.

This set has already sold a staggering 30m copies worldwide and contains 17 tracks. At the time, Madonna had released four studio albums (Madonna (1983), Like A Virgin (1984), True Blue (1986) and Like A Prayer (1989)) and had contributed to a few soundtracks including Who’s That Girl and I’m Breathless (the Dick Tracy OST).

As an indication of just how many big hits Madonna had accumulated at this point, there was no place for the Who’s That Girl single or True Blue despite the fact that both songs reached number one in the UK (Pop Quiz: Has any other act left ever left two number ones off their first greatest hits?)

Justify My Love and Rescue Me were the ‘new’ offerings, while many of the 15 other hits were edited remixed variants and not necessarily the single versions (Like A Prayer being a good example).

This double vinyl edition of The Immaculate Collection will be issued by Rhino on 1 June 2018.
