"Kick im Augenblick" was actually the first full record i've heard from her, but it didn't really impress me that much, so i wasn't too sure what to expect from her new album but now i'm really enjoying it! "Verliebt, verlobt, verflixt nochmal" is by far my favorite song of it and actually even my second most favorite song from her to date, only behind "Federleicht", so i'm glad it shortly made your weekly Top10 too
Her slayage on your charts at the moment is really impressive!
I agree the new album is better than the Kick im Augenblick, although I now think that one is great too (you may remember I wasn't too impressed with it when I first listened to it back in April 2016). Wohlfühlgarantie might be my favourite album out of all of her albums, although it's still too early for me to decide this. The only thing it lacks is one huge standout track, as shown by the fact no song on the album got to #1 on my songs chart. I'm fairly sure that my four favourite songs by her are still the four ones from 2013-2015 that I discovered last year ("Jeder Tag", "Fallschirm", "Zweimal Wahnsinn und zurück" und "Verdammt ich will leben") , but "Du gibst meinem Leben einen Sinn" might be #5. I find it quite amazing that she has released no less than 108 songs since 2011, and 94 just since 2013 (and this does not include remixes, live versions etc). That's more than any other artist in my database for the same period; actually there are only two artists (Hayley Westenra and Taylor Swift) with more total songs regardless of release year!

Despite the big fall for her songs this week i still like the album a lot and will surely return to it several times throughout the year (and later).

Funny thing is i don't see it as country music at all though. "High Horse" is my favorite song there, so while it's nice that it made your Bubblers list twice, it's kinda sad that it doesn't seem to belong to your favorite tracks of the album averall.
Oh, you never checked out Pageant Material in 2015? That surprises me a little because I think it was mentioned quite a bit here on UKMix by several members. But I'm glad you checked her out now! There isn't one bad song on the album and I like "High Horse" although it isn't (at least not so far) one of the standout tracks for me. After I listened to the album "Happy & Sad" took over and probably made me listen less to the other tracks than if that song hadn't been so great. But the album as a whole is probably my second favourite album so far this year (after Wohlfühlgarantie).

I think he did a solid work on "Neon". My favorite picks are "Beautiful Life", "Is It Love?", "Kiss Me" and "Darkness", so i'm very pleased to see one of them appearing on the bubblers list
Actually you're right that weak competition is part of the reason why it managed to get so high (the same thing happened with his last album, which also made it to #2). I do like it, but probably not as much as an average #2 peaking album. My clear favourite song on the album is "Never Giving Up", which is probably obvious now from the latest chart. It's mostly thanks to that song that the album is still in the top 3. "Is It Love?" is among the best of the other tracks; I actually like the rap part, maybe because it's unexpected and sounds funny when it's in German.

It has been almost exactly three years since I started posting my weekly chart here, but the chart that follows in this post will be the last, at least for now. A) Nice to see Jason's name splattered all about your last post!
    B) As I was listening to the songs I realised that Plumb's "Beautrifully Broken" is the same as John Berry's (which is currently bulleted on my chart).
    C) it's a pity that you are going to pause your chart (I strongly assume you keep on compiling your lists). I understand you completely and know how time consuming this endeavour is. I hope that nothing extremely bad is bothering you at the moment and that you will not go entirely missing here on this board. ( You may come back to the FSC! )
PS: I have overcome my listening slump and have started to increase my music consumption quite a bit (but nothing to 2016 levels, yet).

Nope, it had nothing to do with that, pure coincidence. (Just kidding, it was totally because of that.)

Yeah, I like his new album. Although apart from "Gettin' Warmed Up" I think his last album was a bit stronger.

Interesting, had no idea about that. So which one is a cover of which? Or are they just "simulataneous"?

Thanks. Well, since my charts are just a mathematical mapping from my listening statistics they will likely continue to exist for as long as I listen to enough newly released music (technically it only breaks down if fewer than 30 eligible songs have non-zero plays for 16 or more consecutive weeks), although for the albums chart I will probably go back to only updating once or twice a year (or when I'm especially curious about the outcome).

I will probably be tempted to post my top 5 in the UKMixParade thread if/when I have a new #1 or #2 that feels especially "relevant", or possibly even every 6th week. I don't think I knew that chart existed before I started posting my chart in April 2015, otherwise I may have done so earlier. I'm also thinking about still posting my YEC in some form, and that may even be more interesting for you guys when you haven't seen all the weekly charts. So no, most likely I will not go missing completely, although there are bound to be breaks longer than a week or two.

I really like this song; it was actually very close to becoming #1 the week after (but didn't quite defeat Kacey, who is still #1 as I write this). Interesting with the extended mix, haven't checked it out yet.

    Top 5 for Week 21 2018 (21st – 27th May)
    Chart #: 960, Volume: 175

    ?1 ??(1)?Kacey Musgraves – Happy & Sad (9 weeks, peak #1 x8) S A
    ?2 ??(2)?Kate Todd – You're Gonna Find Out (46 weeks, peak #1 x5) S V
    ?3 ??(4)?Catherine McGrath – Thought It Was Gonna Be Me (26 weeks, peak #1 x3) S A
    ?4 ??(6)?Jason Aldean – Gettin' Warmed Up (10 weeks, peak #3) S A
    ?5 ??(8)?Cassadee Pope – Take You Home (8 weeks, peak #5) S A

It's back! Well, not for real... I'm just posting my current top 5 to avoid getting kicked off the UKmixPARADE, especially because I actually still have the same #1 as six weeks ago. With 8 consecutive weeks at #1 it's now in the all time top 10 (tied #10) for consecutive weeks at #1 (tied with the song which was #1 when I started posting here in 2015, "As Long As I Have You" by Dove Cameron).

My interest in new releases has been kind of dead lately. I have checked out some new songs which sounded promising but I haven't bothered to actually start listening to them, so consequently this top 5 is completely made up of songs that were already on the chart six weeks ago, with the biggest change being the return to #2 for one of the top songs of 2017, Kate Todd's "Your're Gonna Find Out".

And with that you will have made Kacey Musgraves the top Country artist (plus single & album of the year) in the UKMIX 2018 Awards held in January 2019!

Ha ha, I guess it's a good sign that I still care (at least a little) about being included in the Parade chart. And if I don't update again Kacey will get another 6x 5 points from me, even if she loses #1 next week (which may or may not happen).

Nice charts these days Magnus. I totally agree with Kacey Musgraves, Samantha Harvey and ofcourse Beatrice Egli. Bought the album and it's a happy album. Certainly Wohlfuhlgarantie. Ofcourse I will try to listen to all the other songs too. Everything allright with you?

I now just noticed that you haven't been publishing for a few weeks. That's a pity. Find it really special that you've been making a chart of your own for such a long time. Hope you will continue. I'm still asking: everything allright with you?

^ Thanks for commenting, Speedy! Yeah, I stopped posting my chart two months ago (except for that later top 5). I seem to have lost my interest in discovering new music. But as can be seen in the chart below, the current situation actually isn't unique but rather a return to how things used to be. Apart from this I'm doing alright, although I'm behind on a lot of things and the future looks a bit uncertain.

How big or unique is the current crisis?

8-week moving average of the number of daily plays of chart-eligible songs newer than 8 weeks.

As can be seen here I'm currently listening to almost no songs from the last two months, and if we just look at the period from 2015 (or mid 2014) onwards, it looks pretty horrible. But the full graph gives a completely different picture. It is really the sustained high level, i.e. absence of any real dips, in 2015-2017 that is the exception. Up until 2014 the general tendency was bigger variations, lower lows and higher highs. Notice how the last megadip in late summer 2013 was followed by the highest peak ever!

So the answer is: It's big, but it has happened several times before!

Edit: Note that the highest peak in autumn 2013 reached a level of about 200 plays per day. That's close to 12 hours per day of listening just to songs no older than eight weeks, on average for eight consecutive weeks. Lately I'm quite a bit below that number for total listening including older songs. So for the graph to reach a new peak like that I would need to find a large number of new songs I get so enthusiastic about that my total listening time increases.

    Hello Magnus,

You've done a lot of great work making a personal chart for so long. As I can see in your graphic chart it's with ups and downs. When I read your explenation below it I got the hope you ment that a great peak still can come, but if I read your last sentence you a really excited to have more time because you listen less to so much new music (or music at all).

I can really understand your point of view or feelings about that. Pity that you stop your chart but hey there's is a lot of other things to do in life. I couldn't keep my Speedy's Top 10 for so long as you did. Also because I love to listen to old music as well but that would make a personal chart boring if everytime the same songs would be in it.

I hope you will post sometimes on this forum again. Maybe just some tips for music to listen to you may discover without searching. I really learned to know new artists by digging in your charts. But I really understand that it is a timerobbing job to do. So if you don't post again I understand it as well. Maybe it's good thing to do for myself. Instead of a Speedy's Top 10, just to give sometimes a Tip of what music is interesting for me. I'm still listening a lot to schlager music.

I hope you can set your attention to your future and that it will nearby become less uncertain.

Also hope to hear from you on this forum in the future, but if not, than thanx for all the great work and enjoy your life.

    Greetings, Speedy

French singer Joyce Jonathan currently dominates my chart more than anyone has done since Emmelie de Forest in 2013, or actually even a little bit more, with the entire top 11 vs top 10. At this point in time it cannot be ruled out that this is the start of a full year (or more) of dominance, only seen twice before in the history of my chart (Hayley Westenra in 2003-2004 and Amy Diamond in 2009-2011).

Avril Lavigne was lucky to get a week at #1 the week before I discovered Joyce's new album. ";Head Above Water"; gave her her 8th #1 (the previous seven #1s were: Complicated, I'm with You, Nobody's Fool, Get Over It, Keep Holding On, Rock 'n' Roll and Hush Hush), finally reclaiming the position of having more #1s than any other artist on my chart (which she previously held in 2002-2005).

    Bubblers:
These are songs that have not yet charted, are at most 30 positions behind the chart and closer now than last week, listed in alphabetical order.
    Alee – Don't Make Me Miss You S A
    Carrie Underwood – The Bullet S A
    Eugénie – Equilibre S V
Jenifer – Encore et encore S
Kelsea Ballerini – Fun and Games S A
    Kelsea Ballerini – I Think I Fell in Love Today S A

    Sabrina Carpenter – Paris S A
    Tenille Arts – I Hate This S V

No surprise which album is #1 here... Also, the first two albums by Joyce Jonathan, that I had never listened to before, are now at #2 and #3, giving her the entire top 3, while her third album (which did enter the chart two years ago and even managed to spend a week at #1) is at #6. The success for Joyce also renewed my general interest in songs with French lyrics, giving some ";random"; older songs a lot of plays suddenly. This is behind the return for Mylène Farmer's 27 year old album. It is a return; before last week it had spent a single week at #18 back in early 2001. Except for a few songs I mostly ignored this singer over the years. However, I do plan on listening to her new album and probably check out the other old ones too.

The graph that I posted in June looks much better now:

Although still far from record highs, the average number of plays of songs no older than eight weeks during the last eight weeks is now close to the previous high for 2018, while the bottom turned out to be right when I posted last time.

Compared to before (i.e April 2015 - April 2018), the posting of my chart here will probably be a bit more irregular now. I.e. although the chart is based on the previous calendar week, I will sometimes not post it until Thursday-Saturday, and I may even skip a week entirely if I'm too busy or nothing interesting is happening that week.

Nice to see another fan of French music here on UKMix. I admit I haven't listened to Joyce Jonathan for quite some time, but about 5 years ago I remember loving Ça Ira. It's about time I revisit.

    10 ?(10)?Mylène Farmer – L'autre... (1991) (3 weeks)
Nice to see you're listening to my favourite artist too.

Did Kim Petras - Heart To Break chart during the interim? You had quite a reaction to the video in my chart.

That's more weeks at #1 than she had in the official NZ chart (I thought it was impossible)

To be honest I haven't listened that much to French music over the years, and I never properly studied the language. Mostly there were just a few songs here and there. And right now Joyce is "stealing" so much of my total listening time that I haven't yet checked out some other new French albums I found. But it will most likely happen soon. I hope you do check out Joyce's new album!

This entry was mostly due to "Désenchantée", which I sort of rediscovered two weeks ago. It was never completely forgotten in the meantime since 1991 but for some reason I had never looked up the lyrics (and their translation) before. Now when I did the song became a lot more interesting!

It did, but it took a while and it never really smashed. 7-6-7-8-12-14-16-27 from week 25 to 32. Should be just enough for a YEC top 100 position.

Even the impossible is possible on my chart ;)
The album was #1 for 61 consecutive weeks starting in early October 2003 (although I didn't hear the entire thing until the 20th), got three more weeks after the shortest possible break, then returned to #1 two weeks in November 2006 and two weeks in February 2007. Considering how much I loved it in 2003-2004 it actually surprises me a bit that it hasn't had more #1 comebacks later, but it can probably still happen.

Great to have you back, @Magnus!
Was missing the neat presentation and general dedication to detail.
Great graphic of your listening pattern. I believe it is the same with me and, if I'm not totally mistaken, I peaked in 2016 and 2017 (volume wise).
I have checked out and listened to:
    ?1 ??(1)?Joyce Jonathan – Une parenthèse (3 weeks, peak #1 x2)
It's a very sweet song (but not something I would put on my playlist).
Great effort and please continue posting your charts!

    ^ Thanks for commenting, trebor!

So far it feels good to be back! Although this has not yet made me get my act together and check out all of the stuff that I ignored (or put aside) earlier in the year. I still have only 324 songs released in 2018 entered into my database, which is only one third of a "normal" figure for the first ten months of the year and even less compared to the record years. (The record for a full year is from 2015 with 2,260 songs, while 2005 is still #1 for January-October with 1,854 songs).

Thanks for checking out my current #1! I understand what you mean. It's actually quite close in the top 3 and I'm not even sure yet which of those three songs (which don't all sound the same) will be my favourite in the long term.

^ Thanks for commenting! Actually, I take back what I said about "just enough for a YEC top 100 position". If the year doesn't end with a bang, that song might even finish in the top 50. Although I don't like it enough for it to feel like a YEC top 50 song.
