Okay so an easy win for Australia in the end - more success for Matthew Hayden - what a series he's had, 500 runs in 2 Tests! Ricky Ponting did very weel in this Test - not only in scoring his runs and out-doing himself when it comes to goofy dismissals but also in helping Matthew Hayden get to 100 in the Second Innings. Well done to them - but also take nothing away from Zimbabwe who did themselves proud - especially in the Second Test. Okay i know it seems like they got the ass hammered out of them but not at one point did they ever give up - shows credit and their fighting spirit. A fair few problems for Australia as far as Injuries go but that's okay for Steve at least as he doesn't have another Test Series for a couple of months at least. However its a different story for Ricky with the Triangular series starting shortly.

Anyway the couple of points that i was gonna make after the first Test i'll make now.

On eat a time, firstly it involves the T.V. rights.

Now hopefully BadRapture and Virgostar will at least look atthis topic once more as you both arethe only 2 who could probably answer this question - or at least enlighten others on it.

Its actually a problem with most Terrestrial T.V. concerning cricket, and the fact that as soon as the allocated time is up for the programme the channel seems to go to the next programme irrelevant of whether the day's play is up or not! Now its not that that is a bad thing, that's okay and good that they stick to their schedule but i really reckon they should accomodate for interuptions and play over-running better than that. Or otherwise possibly they should just leave it to the specialist sports channels to show the longer sposrts like Cricket. But its even worse with Australia no? Apparantly the viewers seem to disappear in spells - its generally Victroia and New South Wales viewers who go first to the Channel 9 news and then WSestern Australia and then the rest of the nation - or have i got this completely wrong? It was hard to understand itand pick all of it up but this is what i interpreted - is this what actually happens?

Yeah we (NSW, my home state, Queensland and Victoria) go to the Channel 9 news if there's nothing special happening with the cricket towards the end of the day (but in special cases e.g Steve Waugh scoring his 10000 runs last year at the SCG we wait until that's over and done with, then the news comes on)....because Western Australia and South Australia are about 1-2 (or 2-3 during summer) hours behind, they of course would see out the day's play b4 we all do....

Hopefully I've shed some light on the situation (or just made you even more confused, I think I'm confusing myself here!) :-?
Let's embrace the point of no return.

Yeah i follow what you're saying and thanks for the information Virgostar.

But in a sense that is even more insulting for both the Cricket and the News - the sport as a whole and all the news coverage by giving priority to either dependant on the circumstances - now that just sucks!

The channel should accomodate better for delys etc etc as it has the rights to the match - or else they are just letting their rights go to waste. And then sort out something to accomodate the news - this really ain't good enough and it also happened in the U.K. with Channel 4 and that - Terrestrial channels should leave it specialist sports channels if they can't manage to get it right.
