    Nice touch to add Country.
I have no frickin' idea about most of last century's Country (for the most part), so I'll happily grow with you and gladly wade through these years.
Some big names you have featured. Haven't heard Shenondah in an eternity. Very cool you included them! Travis Tritt is really great. Gosh at Alan Jackson's mullet (Lord, was he young then). "Don't Rock The Jukebox" is a classic and still played today.
It's striking that the majority of these artists is still around.

welcome back trebor! I was somehow waiting for your return in order to publish this, and when I saw your name here and there thought it was right about time.

I'll really enjoy in future years for you to share some personal faves!

Thanks! Have been more regular for the past week or so (wll cut down on the games, though. Definitely continue with the good ones [Ludus, for example])
Tomorrow I will start the countdown to Country 2016 (The chart year ends on November 30) but the "worst of" list is already done...
This year's countdown will be more interesting as my shares for Alternative, Americana, Texas, Canada, and Australia, have dramatically risen; still enough mainstream around to be featured, though.
Have no clue who will top the chart this year and where everybody will end up, so it's going to be exciting for me, too. Really hope you will find a bunch to add to your playlist.

Here are the winners for 1990, very soon 1991 and then, finally, 2016 nominees.

    1990

    10. Robin Lee - Black Velvet
    9. Tanya Tucker - Walking Shoes

Two cool tracks, the Robin one with a more classic sound while Tanya deliver a great track to dance to.

    8. Ricky Van Shelton - Statue of a Fool
    7. The Judds - Born to Be Blue

Two soft and classic tunes, a sound that survives the taste of time imo.

    6. Travis Tritt - I'm Gonna Be Somebody
    5. Lionel Cartwright - I Watched It All (On My Radio)
    4. Randy Travis - It's Just a Matter of Time

Tritt and Cartwright deliver great songs here, catchy, but Randy Travis, with those outfits, deserved to be one step ahead.

    3. Shenandoah - Ghost in This House
They get the bronze medal thanks to this beautiful song. I fell in love with Alison Krauss' rendition to be honest, but revisitng and checking this version made me love it again.

    2. The Charlie Daniels Band - Simple Man
I have to admit it was a very close race here. Simple Man is very much teh country song style I love, but...

    1. Alan Jackson - Blue Blooded Woman
Alan makes a perfect country song here, the one that instantly gets you tapping with your feet.

    6. Alan Jackson - Here in the Real World
Although Alan delivered the best country song of the year imo, he album lacks more good songs. Highlights, besides Woman, are Chasin' That Neon Rainbow and Dog River Blues.

    5. Michael Martin Murphey - Cowboy Songs
Cowboy Logic, I Ride An Old Paint..., Tying Knots In The Devil's Tail, What Am I Doing Here, Wild Ripplin' Waters, The Streets Of Laredo and Where Do Cowboys Go When They Die, all amazing. This album is a good journey.

    4. Dan Seals - On Arrival
Good Times, Made For Lovin' You, She Flew The Coupe, Wood and Bordertown makes a great start to the album, while the econd half has Love On Arrival and A Heart...

    3. The Charlie Daniels Band - Simple Man
Rednecks, Midnight Wind Saturday Night, Play Me Some Fiddle, Simple Man and Mr DJ as highlights.

    2. Randy Travis - No Holdin' Back
Ok, I highlighted all 10 songs in this set! Strong collection.

    1. Travis Tritt - Country Club
Travis also delivers a fantastic colelction, and maybe the fresher sound convinced me to give him the gold medal.

    1991

    10. Clint Black - Put Yourself in My Shoes
    9. Dwight Yoakam - Turn It On, Turn It Up, Turn Me Loose

Two videos with similar colours and styles, with long introductions.

    8. Kenny Rogers - If You Want To Find Love
    7. Travis Tritt & Marty Stuart - The Whiskey Ain't Workin'

Kenny always delivers, athough the structure here is very much alike Gambler. Effective for sure. Travis, 1990's recipient of Best Country Album award, delivers a very classic country song here: whisky and guitars.

    6. Billy Dean - Billy the Kid
    5. Brooks & Dunn - Brand New Man
    4. Alan Jackson - Don't Rock the Jukebox

I find the video and parts of the song so weak but still love Billy The Kid. B&D hits the right notes with this great track. Alan Jackson probably missed a medal just becuase he already got the Gold one in 1990. Jukebox is amazing!

    3. Alison Krauss - I've Got That Old Feeling
I find Alison's voice so captivating! The instrumentation here is ace.

    2. Hal Ketchum - Past the Point of Rescue
Sleeping with your jeens on must be hard for "those" parts. The song is great, bittersweet lyrics with great guitars.

    1. Rosanne Cash - What We Really Want
No doubt this is the country song of the year. Outstanding.

    6. Billy Dean - Billy Dean
An album half-packed with good country tracks sucha s Billy The Kid, Simple Things, Only The Wind, I Shoulda Listen and You Don't Count The Cost.

    5. Alison Krauss - I've Got That Old Feeling
As much as I love her, the album gets lost a little bit after Old Feeling, but ends high with That Makes One Of Us and Longest Highway.

    4. Brooks & Dunn - Brand New Man
New Man opens the album and is followed by 5 great tracks, but the second half of the album is not as consistent.

    3. Hal Ketchum - Past the Point of Rescue
Small Town + I Know Where Love Lives + Old Soldiers makes a great start, and then songs 5-9 are flawless.

    2. Rosanne Cash - Interiors
A+ album, some nice folk sound mixed with country to me: Dance With the Tiger, On The Surface, This World, Mirror Image, Land Of Nightmares, I Want A Cure and the amazing What We Really Want.

    1. Alan Jackson - Don't Rock the Jukebox
Alan, 1990's Best Country Song winner, follows last year's award with this year's Best Country Album. Super highlights: Dallas, Montgomery, Love's Got A Hold On You, From A Distance and the title track.

    10. Sigala feat. Bryn Christopher - Sweet Lovin'
    9. Jack Ü feat. Kai - Mind

Sweet Lovin' has a cool and colourful melody that easily makes you dance, while Mind has a dark edge that makes it interesting. Both of them stands a step below competition.

    8. Primal Scream & Sky Ferreira - Where The Light Gets In
After so many years, Primal Scream still makes amazing dance music. This was an initial favourite from the album, but now others seem better to my ears.

    7. Jonas Blue feat. Dakota - Fast Car
    A cool cover.

    6. Izzy Bizu - White Tiger
I really like this song, I presented in the Forum Contest some months ago but lacked support. I still like it.

    5. 99 Souls feat. Destiny's Child & Brandy - The Girl Is Mine
A surprising song that kept growing on me.

    4. Underworld - I Exhale
Amazing track, almost got a medal but the other three were a little better. This repetitive style is very addictive.

    3. BRONZE MEDAL: Moderat - Reminder
Great song, very dark and the video makes it even better.

    2. SILVER MEDAL: Kungs vs Cookin’ on 3 Burners - This Girl
An almost winne here! This song will probably participate in many survivors 20 years from now and will be considered a classic.

    1. GOLD MEDAL: Chemical Brothers feat. Beck - Wide Open
A perfect combination, Beck's voice fits perfectly and the song force you to dance and get involved.

    6. Junior Boys - Big Black Coat
A good collection, although it lacks some variety imo. Highlights: Over It, C'mon Baby, No One's Business, What You Won't Do For Love and the title track.

    5. Safia - Internal
Similar to Junior Boys: good set but lacks some flavour. Highlights: Embracing Me, Together Locked Safely, Fake It Til The Sunrise, My Love Is Gone & Go To Waste.

    4. RÜFÜS - Bloom
A colourful set of songs, could have easily take a medal with another competitors. Highlights: Like An Animal, Say A Prayer For Me, You Were Right & Daylight.

    3. BRONZE MEDAL: Underworld - Barbara Barbara, We Face a Shining Future
The darkest edge of this album gives it a medal. Highlights: I Exhale, If Rah and Ova Nova.

    2. SILVER MEDAL: Moderat - III
Beautiful set of songs, emotional and touching. Highlights: Eating Hooks, Running, Ghostmother, Reminder, The Fool & Intruder.

    1. GOLD MEDAL: Primal Scream - Chaosmosis
Amazing album, can't stop dancing to Trippin' On Your Love! Other highlights: (Feeling Like A) Demon Again, I Can Change, 100% Or Nothing, Private Wars, Where The Lights Get In & Carnival of Fools.

    10. Enrique Iglesias feat. Wisin - Duele El Corazón
A hot track by Enrique that is in ine with his previous Bailando, so this doesn't add much to mi music library... but it is hot anyway.

    9. Los Fabulosos Cadillacs - La Tormenta
The Cadillacs are back, a sted below their signature songs.

    8. Valerio Scanu - Finalmente piove
I don't understand italian (although it has some resemblance with spanish), but I really enjoyed Valerio.

    7. Ciro Y Los Persas - Luz
A typical argentinian rock song, I love the lyrics, giving us hope in some dark times.

    6. Chino & Nacho feat. Daddy Yankee - Andas En Mi Cabeza
Addicitve. Be careful, it can become you obsessed.

    5. Diego Torres - Iguales
    4. Dënver - El Fondo Del Barro

Diego is a fav of my wife and I always find him cool. Nice lyrics, although a little cheesy. Denver was a great discovery this year, and this song won the Forum contest.

    3. Pablo López feat. Juanes - Tu Enemigo
    Great track! Good lyrics.

    2. Bebe - Ganamos

    1. Carlos Vives & Shakira - La Bicicleta
Such a tough call here!!! Bebe delivered the most touching and enriching song this year, while Carlos&Shakira created an instant classic song. Amazing year thanks to these two songs.

    6. Valerio Scanu - Finalmente Piove
Alongside the title track, other highlights include Dentro Questa Stanza, Mi Pervadi, Rinascendo & L'Ossessione

    5. J Balvin - Energía
In a year in which reggeaton suddenly cought my attention, J Balvin delivers a great collection with Veneno, Malvada, Safari, Bobo, Snapchat, Hola, Ginza, and on and on...

    4. Ciro Y Los Persas - Naranja Persa
Alongside Luz, Amor Prohibido, Juira!, La Rosa, Similar & Hoy Te Vas.

    3. Dënver - Sangre Cita
The Chilean act releases one of the biggest surprises of the year for me. Noche Profunda, El Fondo del Barro, La Ultima Canción, Pequeños Momentos de Satisfacción, Yo Para Ti No Soy Nadie, Mi Derrota & La Lava.

    2. Diego Torres - Buena Vida
I love all 12 songs... La Grieta is my fav. Amazing album.

    1. Bebe - Cambio de Piel
Standing ovation. Such a personal, touching and beautiful album. Respirar, Ganamos, borrones, La Cuenta... ALL are superb. Thanks Bebe for such a great journey.

    10. Kills - Doing It to Death
    9. Basement - Aquasun

Both artists deliver good alt-rock tracks

    8. Mitski - Your Best American Girl
An interesting video and exciting song. Good discovery.

    7. Pineapple Thief - In Exile
A softer sound that pleases me more.

    6. King Charles - Gamble for a Rose
Another forum contest entree. Another flop result for me, but I like it a lot!

    5. Radiohead - Burn The Witch
RAdiohead returned to a more melodic style imo, much appreciated.

    4. Amanda Bergman - Falcons
AMAZING song, really captivating, a folk sound that realxes me.

    3. BRONZE MEDAL: Disturbed - The Sound Of Silence
I must say I think this version is one of the best. Disturbed managed a perfect rendition.

    2. SILVER MEDAL: Thao & the Get Down Stay Down - Nobody Dies
Give this a try if you like alt female artists! I am addictive to it.

    1. GOLD MEDAL: David Bowie - Blackstar
David delivered such an iconic song here, the layers, the sounds. Simply the best.

    6. Cage the Elephant - Tell Me I'm Pretty
Solid effort. Cry Baby, Mess Around, Too Late To Say Goodbye, Cold Cold Cold, Trouble, How Are You True & Punchin' Bag stand out with a classic rock sound.

    5. Amanda Bergman - Docks
songs 1-7 flow easily and steadily.

    4. Head and Heart - Signs of Light
All We Ever Knew kicks off this sound fest. City of Angels, Rhythm and Blues, False Alarm, Dreamer, Library Magic, Take A Walk, Oh My Dear, I Don't Mind & Your Mother's Eyes follows although the album lacks variety (just a little)

    3. BRONZE MEDAL: Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool
Witch, Daydreaming, Decks Dark, Desert Island Disk, Glass Eyes, Identikit & The Numbers as the best representatives of this great album.

    2. SILVER MEDAL: Thao & the Get Down Stay Down - A Man Alive
Outstanding album. ALL songs are great. ALL. I cannot highlight only some.

    1. GOLD MEDAL: David Bowie - Blackstar
David's farewell album is probably the best farewell album of them all. Miss him.

    10. Rob Baird - Aint Nobody Got A Hold On me
    9. Brandy Clark - Girl Next Door

Two artists that I discovered this year.

    8. Dierks Bentley feat. Elle King - Different For Girls
    7. Eric Church - Mr. Misunderstood

Two artists that I already know for some years, still making great music.

    6. Darrell Scott - Down To The River
    Perfect for a roadtrip!

    5. Lori McKenna - The Bird & The Rifle
    4. Bob Weir - Only A River

    A folk-country style I adore.

    3. BRONZE MEDAL: Cam - Burning House
I must admit after hearing this song last year I was really anticipating listening to the whole album... and it was underwhelming. But the song is goregous.

    2. SILVER MEDAL: Maren Morris - My Church
A solid track, some gospel, some country, perfect.

    1. GOLD MEDAL: Colvin & Earle - Come What May
This is HOT! Makes me dance, makes me sing out loud. Excellent.

    6. Rob Baird - Wrong Side of the River
Aint Nobody Got A Hold On me kiscks off a good set of songs, a promising step so as to be expecting amazing things in his future, Mercy Me, Run of Good Luck, the title track, Oklahoma, Horses (BEAUTIFUL!), When I Go & Cowboy Cliche.

    5. Darrell Scott - Couchville Sessions
Down to the RiverIt's Time to Go Away, Big River, Love is the Season (!!!!), It's About Time, It's Another Day, Morning Man & Free really stand out.

    4. Bob Weir - Blue Mountain
Only A River, Cottonwood Lullaby, Gonesville, Lay My Lily Down, Gallop On The Run, Darkest Hour & One More River To Cross are all amazing songs, made more haunting thanks to Bob's amazing tone.

    3. BRONZE MEDAL: Maren Morris - Hero
Rocker style that fits my taste perfectly. Sugar, Rich, My Church, I Could Use A Love Song, 80s Mercedes (!!!), How It's Done & I Wish I Was. Thanks Maren!

    2. SILVER MEDAL: Lori McKenna - The Bird & the Rifle
Songs 1-8 are so captivating and beauiful. But Humble And Kind is touching and a top song.

    1. GOLD MEDAL: Colvin & Earle - Colvin & Earle
Come What May seems impossible to top, but then you find Tell Moses, and ALL SONGS in the album. Amazing.

    10. Snow Tha Product feat. W. Darling - Nights
It was not an amazing year for Hip-Hop imo. Few things really stood out, and nothing extraordinary original. This song is fine and good but it wouldn't have been nominated in another year.

    9. Missy Elliott feat. Pharrell - WTF (Where They From)
    8. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Idris Elba - Dance Off

Two comeback singles that couldn't live up to expectations, although both are good.

    7. Mac Miller feat. Anderson .Paak - Dang!
    6. Kanye West feat. Rick Ross, Rihanna & Swizz Beatz - Famous

Two songs that are better thanks to the feat.

    5. Drake feat. Kyla & Wizkid - One Dance
Not much into Drake's appeal, but the song was solid and catchy.

    4. M.I.A. - Borders
Strong entry by MIA. Among her best.

    3. BRONZE MEDAL: Anderson .Paak - Come Down
    2. SILVER MEDAL: Urthboy feat. Bertie Blackman - Long Loud Hours

Two very good discoveries! I'll e waiting for more music from them.

    1. GOLD MEDAL: De La Soul feat. Snoop Dogg - Pain
No doubt about this medal. De La Soul still deliver hot classic HH songs.

    6. Kanye West - The Life of Pablo
He is still a HH god, but he is slowly losing ground. Highlights: Father, Famous, Waves, Real Friends , Wolves, No More Parties in LA & Fade.

    5. Urthboy - The Past Beats Inside Me Like a Second Heartbeat
Long Loud Hours is great, but then he fails to top that, although many cool songs are presented: Second Heartbeat, Wolves At Bay, The Arrow & Little Grl's Dad.

    4. ASAP Ferg - Always Strive and Prosper
Rebirth, Hungry Ham, Strive, Psycho, Let It Bang, New Level, Beautiful People & Let You Go are my favs from this. Still, not the HH that can pass the test of time.

    3. BRONZE MEDAL: Daz and Snoop - Cuzznz
Snoop always delivers, Have U Eva is a classic SD track, N My System, Six n'Da Morning, Phenomonon, Dic Walk, Bestfriend, Sho You Right & What's Yo Pleasure are equally good.

    2. SILVER MEDAL: Anderson .Paak - Malibu
Almost a winner here! The album gets a little lost in the second half, but bright things shine in the future for him. The Bird, The Waters, Put Me Thru, Am I Wrong, Room In Here, Come Down, The Dreamer.

    1. GOLD MEDLA: De La Soul - and the Anonymous Nobody...
Solid album, flows easily and has a nice classic vibe. Royalty Capes, Pain, Memory of... (US), Snoopies, Greyhounds, Trainwreck, Drawn, Whoodeeni, Here In After, and Exodus.

    10. Rihanna - Love On The Brain
A good song but far away comparing to the other nominees.

    9. James Blake feat. Bon Iver - I Need A Forest Fire
Good track, they both merge very good.

    8. Lion Babe - Wonder Woman
    7. Corinne Bailey Rae - Been To The Moon
    6. Maxwell - Lake by the Ocean

Three great tracks, a modern sound but still classic R&B.

    5. Blood Orange - Augustine
    Very hot song, smooth.

    4. Jon Bellion - All Time Low
Very good discovery! I'll be paying attention to his next efforts.

    3. BRONZE MEDAL: Erykah Badu - Phone Down
    Erykah never dissapoints!

    2. SILVER MEDAL: Solange - Cranes in the Sky
In a battle of the sisters, Solange delivers a very hot track and was almost a winner!

    1. GOLD MEDAL: Beyoncé - Formation
Bey delivered an exciting journey, and this song easily becomes one of her best.

    6. Janet Jackson - Unbreakable
My interest faded a little, and the album aged. But still it is a very solid album! Damn Baby, The Great Forever, After You Fall, No Sleeep, Promise & Well Traveled.

    5. Blood Orange - Freetown Sound
Augustine, Chance, Best To You, With Him, Love Ya, But You, Hands Up, Hadron collider, Juicy 1-4. Some sensual tracks but al in all the album lacks intensity at points. Still GOOD.

    4. Jon Bellion - The Human Condition
He Is the Same, 80s Films, All Time Low, Fashion, Maybe IDK, , Woke The F*ck Up, Weight Of The World, The Good In Me, Morning in America, iRobot. Solid as rock. His voice lacks some depth.

    3. BRONZE MEDAL: Solange - A Seat at the Table
Rise, Weary, Cranes, Hair, Borderline and Dont Wish Me Well are all A+.

    2. SILVER MEDAL: Corinne Bailey Rae - The Heart Speaks in Whispers
Corinne shines here, evolving in sound and proving she is an artist to keep. The SKies Will Break, I Wont Break Your Heart, Been To The Moon, Tell Me, Stop Where You Are, Green Aphrodisiac, Do You Ever Think Of Me?, caramel.

    1. GOLD MEDAL: Beyoncé - Lemonade
Beyoncé did it again. It will be so hard for her to top it.

    10. Deerhunter - Snakeskin
It is reminiscent of many 2010s rock songs.

    9. Foo Fighters - Saint Cecilia
    8. Jesu and Sun Kil Moon - America's Most Wanted Mark Kozelek and John Dillinger

Foo Fighters deliver a track that connects their rocker sound with a more pop style. Jesu/Sun started as a fav but eventually they seem like a Hootie & The Blowfish copy. Like them anyway.

    7. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Dark Necessities
    6. Tragically Hip - In a World Possessed by the Human Mind

The RHCP bass sounds soooo gooooood! Addictive. Hip has a cool vibe.

    5. Bonnie Raitt - Unintended Consequence of Love
    4. Eric Clapton - Can't Let You Do It To Me

1990 saw both of them nominated, Bonnie in Pop (and winning) and Eric in Rock. Amazing that 27 years later both of them still deliver quality music.

    3. BRONZE MEDAL: Paul Simon - Wristband
Very good song by the ever good Paul.

    2. SILVER MEDAL: PJ Harvey - The Wheel
PJ Rocks! She has an amateurish approach to music that captures my attention and makes me love her even more.

    1. GOLD MEDAL: Laurence Fox - Rise Again
    Love this.

    6. Deerhunter - Fading Frontier
Songs 1-9 all are good. But the sound is not distinctive.

    5. Jesu and Sun Kil Moon - Jesu/Sun Kil Moon
A spoken style that is cool but grows a little too much as the album flows. Good Morning My Love, A Song Of Shadows, Fragile, Father's Day, America, Exodus & Beautiful You.

    4. Bonnie Raitt - Dig in Deep
Consequence, I Knew, What You're Doing To Me, Gypsy The Comin' Around is Going Through & The One We Couldn't Be.

    3. BRONZE MEDAL: Eric Clapton - I Still Do
HOT. Alabama, Cant Let You Do It, I Will Be There, Little Man, Stones in my Passway, I Dreamed I Saw St Augustine, Somebody's knocking.

    2. SILVER MEDAL: Laurence Fox - Holding Patterns
He has a similar tone to Chris Martin, and I love it. Blinded by the Truth, Headlong, Rise Again, Gunfight (!!!), The Great Unknown, So Be Damned (!!!)

    1. GOLD MEDAL: PJ Harvey - The Hope Six Demolition Project
STANDING OVATION! Community of Hope, Ministry of Defence, Chain of Keys, River Anacostia, Near The Memorials of Vietnam and Lincoln (!!!!!!!!!), Orange Monkey, Ministry of Social Affairs, The Wheel. A M A Z I N G album.

    10. Zayn - Pillowtalk
I like this ne a lot, but then all that follows from him was mid-point.

    9. Weeknd feat. Daft Punk - Starboy
A very good tune, but after watching him live @ Lollapalooza Argentina I think he is a little boring. I kinda lost interest.

    8. Troye Sivan - Youth
Troye is very intersting, has potential, and this song was cool and catchy.

    7. Sara Bareilles - She Used to Be Mine

I liked this song. But after the Oscars, it gain a lot. Fun, carefree, simple. Dance dance dance dance

Coldplay are getting better with time. This album and song were so full of color. Love it.

    1. GOLD MEDAL: 1975 - The Sound
    Addictied to it. Fun.

    6. Kishi Bashi - Sonderlust
A more experimental pop I liked but need to go deeper into it. m'lover, Hey Big Star, Say Yeah, Juno, Ode to my Next Life, Who'd You Kill, Answer Me & Honeybody.

    5. Troye Sivan - Blue Neighbourhood
Good start, needs to grow up and evolve a little. Wild, Erase, Talk Me Down, Cool, Youth Lost Boy & Too Good.

    4. KT Tunstall - KIN
Hard Girls starts this brillantly, then Turned A Light On, Maybe It's A Good Thing, Evil Eye, Here I Am, On My Star, Two Way, Run on Home & Everything has its Shape. Good and consistent body of work.

    3. BRONZE MEDAL: Regina Spektor - Remember Us to Life
Hghlights: Bleeding Heart, Older and Taller (!), Grand Hotel, Small Bill$, Black and White (!!!), The Light, Tornadoland & Obsolete.

Love Me, Ugh!, A Change of Heart, She's American, Please be Naked, Lostmyhead, Somebody Else (!!!!!), I like it...., The Sound, Paris, Nana & She Lays Me Down. I like some 80s sound that I hear here and there.

    1. GOLD MEDAL: Coldplay - A Head Full of Dreams
After the somber Ghost Stories this colourful set deserves the gold medal. A Head..., Hymn..., Evergloe, Adventure..., Fun, Army of One, Amazing Day & Up and Up.
