Maren Morris Is First Country Act to Top Dance/Mix Show Airplay Chart, Thanks to 'The Middle'
    https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... the-middle
    3/1/2018 by Gordon Murray

Plus, new top 10s for G-Eazy & Halsey, NF, Avicii & Zack Martino.

Zedd, Maren Morris and Grey crown Billboard's Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart (dated March 3) with "The Middle" (3-1). Zedd scores his fifth No. 1, while Morris and Grey each lead for the first time.

Notably, Morris is the first core country act to lead the list since its 2003 inception. Morris has earned three Country Airplay top 10s, including her first No. 1 as a lead artist, "I Could Use a Love Song," on the Jan. 20-dated chart.

Additionally, reaching No. 1 in only four weeks, "Middle" is the fastest-rising chart-topper since The Chainsmokers' "Closer" (featuring Halsey), which also flew to the summit in its fourth frame (Sept. 10, 2016).

"Middle" tops the multi-metric Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart for a fourth week, pulling in 47 million in all-format radio audience (up 19 percent) in the tracking week; 17.4 million U.S. streams (up 12 percent); 35,000 downloads sold (up 7 percent), and, according to Nielsen Music.

As on Dance/Mix Show Airplay, Morris is the first country act to top Hot Dance/Electronic Songs (which began in January 2013).

Florida Georgia Line & Maren Morris Mark First Pair of Country Acts in Hot 100's Top 10 Simultaneously This Decade
    https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... 100-top-10
    3/12/2018 by Gary Trust

Bebe Rexha & FGL's "Meant to Be" hits the top five & Morris' "The Middle," with Zedd & Grey, zips 11-8.

Country acts make themselves at home in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 this week, as a pair of country artists rank in the region concurrently for the first time this decade.

As previously reported, Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line's "Meant to Be" reaches the top five, climbing from No. 7 to No. 5 on the Hot 100 (dated March 17), while Zedd, Maren Morris and Grey's "The Middle" rises 11-8.

Thanks to Florida Georgia Line, who have earned 11 No. 1s on Billboard's Country Airplay chart, and Morris, who has notched two leaders, two country acts appear in the Hot 100's top 10 simultaneously for the first time in the 2010s. (Of course, "The Middle" is a pop/EDM track not being promoted to country radio; it concurrently leads Hot Dance/Electronic Songs for a sixth week.)

The last time that two core country acts previously ranked in the Hot 100's top 10 in the same week: April 4, 2009, when Carrie Underwood's remake of Randy Travis' 1988 country hit "I Told You So," featuring Travis, soared from No. 57 to No. 9 after the pair performed it on American Idol. The last time that two core country artists had placed in the Hot 100's top 10 thanks to two songs, as FGL and Morris do this week? May 13, 2000: Faith Hill's "Breathe" (No. 3) and Lonestar's "Amazed" (No. 10).

"Meant to Be" and "The Middle" mark two of the latest songs in a trend of collaborations by pop and country acts. Also climbing Country Airplay is Chris Lane's "Take Back Home Girl," featuring Tori Kelly (24-22).

Zedd, Maren Morris & Grey's 'The Middle' Hits No. 1 on Pop Songs Airplay Chart
    https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... ongs-chart
    4/2/2018 by Gary Trust

The song marks the second leader for Zedd & first each for Morris & Grey.

Zedd, Maren Morris and Grey's "The Middle" rises to the top of Billboard's Pop Songs radio airplay chart, lifting 2-1 on the survey dated April 7.

Zedd notches his second Pop Songs No. 1, after "Stay," with Alessia Cara, which reigned for six weeks beginning last June. Morris and Grey each earn their first Pop Songs leader.

Notably, Morris has crowned the Country Airplay chart with two songs, as featured on Thomas Rhett's "Craving You" and with her own "I Could Use a Love Song." Thanks to "The Middle," she is the sixth artist to have topped both Country Airplay and Pop Songs, joining Backstreet Boys, Kelly Clarkson, Tim McGraw, P!nk and Taylor Swift. (Honorable mention to Darius Rucker, who has led Pop Songs fronting Hootie & the Blowfish and Country Airplay with seven solo songs.)

Meanwhile, "The Middle" marks the first Pop Songs No. 1 by as many as three credited lead artists since October 2003, when Nelly, P. Diddy and Murphy Lee teamed up for the three-week topper "Shake Ya Tailfeather." Two other Pop Songs No. 1s have sported at least three lead acts: "All for Love," by Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart and Sting (1994), and "Lady Marmalade," by a record four artists: Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya and P!nk (2001).

The Pop Songs chart, which began in 1992 (and in 2017 celebrated its 25th anniversary), measures total weekly plays, as tabulated by Nielsen Music, among its reporting panel of 160 mainstream top 40 stations.

"The Middle" has hit a No. 6 high on the streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Billboard Hot 100. Highlights of the April 7-dated Hot 100's top 10 will be revealed later today and all charts will update tomorrow (April 3) on Billboard.com.

^ Thanks for posting. This is such a huge disappointment. I thought she could be a contender for #1.

Still #1 on iTunes... I'm actually surprised the SPS is so much higher than the actual sales, as she's not doing that well on streaming platforms and the singles are also far from being hits. A shame. Hope this one will have similar longevity to her debut.

^ Glad the predictions went up, #4 looks absolutely fine to me. The album is still #1 on US iTunes!

Also, it looks like it‘s clear what they need to push as the next single:

    #67 United States (+21)
    #77 Canada (+16)
    #129 Ireland (NE)

    3/23/19 Billboard 200

    https://www.billboard.com/biz/articl...-race-for-love

Maren Morris nets her highest-charting album yet on the Billboard 200, as Girl bows at No. 4 with 46,000 units (with 25,000 of that sum in album sales). It surpasses her previous high, logged when Hero debuted and peaked at No. 5 (June 25, 2016).

Further, Morris logs the highest charting country album by a female artist in over five months. Carrie Underwood was the last female act to go higher with a country set, when Cry Pretty debuted at No. 1 on the Sept. 29, 2018-dated list.
