We can see by the reports from June 13 and 15 that the original capacity used for Aguilera's "Xperience" was 4,200+. That would bring 25,000 (sold) / 33,600 (capacity) in 8 shows (74%).

I believe it's one of the worse numbers ever seen in Vegas in terms of percentage of tickets sold in a opening run. It's really bad numbers.

Cool I'm glad for him, he's a superstar. I added him to the list.

What about Pitbull? How was his opening run / first batch of shows?

    2 Show(s)
    Janet Jackson
    Park Theater at Park MGM
    Las Vegas, NV
    9,474 / 10,352 (92%)
    79 - 499
    $1,654,218
    in-house, Live Nation

By the way, I am pretty impressed in how Janet did huge numbers on her last 2 shows. She averaged $827,109. It's one of the highest grossing single nights in Vegas, not just for female artists.

Not to mention that her sales were bad when she announced, and with her average attendance she could've sold out the entire first run at Zappos Theater. It's not that hard to do good numbers in a opening run.

Correct! Cher is selling 100% on her tours, which is much more important imo. Plus, you know, an acting Oscar, Emmy, etc ... She's in a league of her own ;).

    @matheusbelmont

You made a mistake with Paula’s venue. It’s not Zappos Theater.

It's "Total Sold/Total Capacity". My bad.

There’s two things here in my mind that are relevant.

Firstly, it is no more competitive now than it has ever been - there might be more acts but the number of shows occurring is broadly the same. What’s different is the ability for today’s Vegas acts to shift tickets - what you are seeing in Vegas is broadly replicated with world tours (the acts that shift the most tickets are established live acts or veteran names).

Secondly, the numbers above will significantly improve the closer to the shows you get - it is long established that a significant number of show tickets in Vegas are sold for a lot of acts in the run up to show time.

This is something I have noticed, especially when I was there as there are so many places that offer last minute cheap tickets on the strip, to be honest I only started paying attention when the Xperience was announced but it's interesting for all artists.

Surely there are more high profile people performing there than ever though.

But probably fewer overall shows than ever before as artists now perform mini residencies or shorter residencies, as opposed to lengthier ones (the model has shifted somewhat).

    It’s quite telling.
