Bonjour and welcome back to the 126th Forum Song Contest!

Looks like Basse-Terre was a bad choice after all, hope you are all right after that horrible terrorist attack, which I hardly know anything about :p .
I guess we have to move on though!

Last month, CandyPerfumeBoy won with this song, so we have the contestant with the most wins winning for the country with the most wins as well:

Cocovan - Chic (Someone to love)

Let's get to know our host town, the capital of Guadeloupe, Basse-Terre!

    RULES

    01. This is a monthly contest, modeled after Eurovision. You need to have at least 10 posts to your credit to take part.
    02. You can pick any country in the world.
    03. The artist you choose has either to be a citizen of the country they'll represent or to have been born there. At least HALF of the people from your act must be from the country you choose.
    04. Your song must be 10 years old at the most. For 2017, eligible entries must have been released after August 31st, 2007.
    05. Eurovision entries are not allowed. Songs from concurrent Eurovision heats are not allowed either.
    06. The song cannot have been a UK/US Top 40 hit, as it would give it an unfair advantage.
    07. The song can be a remix.
    08. The song cannot be a cover version.
    09. If your song features a sample, please state it early enough, so the other contestants can decide whether it is acceptable or not by poll.
    10. You cannot vote for your own country.
    11. Discussion about one's favourites during the contest is NOT ALLOWED, as it has the potential to influence the voting.
    12. PLEASE try and choose a song not everyone would know, the point is to discover new artists.
    13. If a song becomes or is found to be ineligible at any time before the voting is over, it will be disqualified.
    14. Make sure you understand all the rules before you take part. You will need to devote about 2 hours of your time to this game to listen to all the entries at least once. Do a little research on your entry before you present it, be sure that it doesn't violate any rules, and check here to see if it has taken part before.

    TIMELINE

01 - 10/11| RESERVE & PRESENT: Present your entry or just reserve your country. Last month's top 5 get their choice from last month reserved, so nobody may choose these countries until they let them go

    02. US (leomedar)
    03. Germany (LionH3art)

11 - 12/11 | PRESENT: Pick any country that hasn't been presented yet and present your entry (ALL reservations are now expired). A maximum of 30 confirmed entries in total will be accepted.

13 - 27/11 | VOTE! Whoever fails to vote during this period cannot participate in the following contest.

28/11 | Late Vote: Whoever votes on this date will receive a 10 points penalty.

29/11 | Very Late Vote: Whoever votes on this date will receive a 15 points penalty. Whoever fails to vote by the 30th (Basse-Terre time) will be disqualified.

I seriously have no idea what happened and I'm confused as to why there's no mention about this in the UKMIX section.

Anyway, I think we're back on track! Keep voting guys!

    Voted!

    - My highest score song was 8,7; Lowest 3,5; Average 6,3.
    - One entry sounding like "Love Me Like You Do", another like "Unfaithful", another like "Aserejé" and another like "You Da One"
    - There was this one entry who started as "Meh" and ended like "yaaas kween"
    - At first I didn't know Albanian entry was changed but it sound the same so my judging didn't change that much

I hope I didn't give away any relevant info, I'm actually biting my tongue. Glad to be back in here!

What happened to the previous FSC topic?

Unfortunately, and due entirely to my own personal incompetence in this instance, the FSC topic was deleted along with about 200 spam topics when I was removing them a couple of days ago. I clearly didn't check thoroughly enough when removing the spam.

I've apologised to George privately, but would also like to extend that apology to those of you that also contributed to the topic - I'm very sorry this has happened. It is not possible to bring the topic back unfortunately, but I hope you'll be able to rebuild it to something similar to what it was before. And if I can support with that, please let me know.

    Thanks Wayne for clarifying things.
Like Grybop said, making mistakes is human and it's alright ;)

I just hope that - when another spam attack happens - there's another way of dealing with it. Isn't i possible to just look for the threads created by the same person? (like using the search option?) and then delete all results? That way Grybop's and all other users' threads are safe.

Or since the FSC is kinda big (more than 20-25 players per month for 126th editions) would a subforum make do? That way, all 126 threads can be together as well as the History thread and maybe each member can get an own individual history thread and oresent their entries/results (and we don't have to use the one and only History thread for that (which - in my opinion - should only list the final results).

What about as a compromise, would you like me to give it "Announcement" status - that way, it remains at the top of the games forum, as a separate standalone? What about as it is? Conscious that I don't want to derail your topic - if you like it as it is, I'm happy to put it back as normal. If you'd rather stay as as I've changed it, also fine. Whatever suits.

Wow, Wayne! That's amazing and it looks so good! Thank you so much!
I mean, at some point, people try to find the topic to reserve a country or just go to the topic to listen to the entries and this way, we can find it easily and the current edition will probably not be deleted by accident.

Are you willing to give the new edition an announcement status every month? (of course, the previous topic will be dropped).

    It would be absolutely amazing!

If you'd like my opinion, having the game stuck to the top of the forum basically only gives the game visibility - which it obviously already has - and makes it easier for the participants to find it. I don't think it's necessary.
It would be helpful to have this edition pinned up there though, to let people know the game is not lost.
    Bottomline:
Yes to Announcement status for November, and thanks for that - Can't see the use after that.
It's not as if it's the most popular game around, according to the UKMIX HOT 100

Dunno. When it comes to popularity, I don't think we can compete with all the Survivors because of the nature of the posts alone. I mean, usually, the rounds change daily or every second day. Still, it's quite unusual for a Survivor topic to attract more than 10+ or even 25+ users to make a choice every round (or in general). So in the end, I'd argue that the FSC is as popular or even more popular than most survivor rounds.

Giving every edition an announcement status would be great because it will be safe from being deleted by accident. And our fellow FSC members' presentations will not be lost.

I will take this away to discuss with the guys that moderate Games to see what their view is anyway. But for the time being, happy to keep this edition as an announcement.

I think having this in the top will mean a lot of work every month for a mod to pin/unpin new edition/previous edition

Mainshow's idea was the one that looked good to me, to have a subforum, but then I think that will "hide" the thread for new users.

So I think it is fine to have it like it is, It was the first time a thing like this happened. On the other hand, I think a spam attack can take place and then a mod can make this human mistake so maybe the host of the game can have an excel file with the contestant / song / link to video just in case?

I think this is a very popular game, UKMix Hot100 tracks in a way that Survivor's will be benefited as Mainshow stated. But FSC consistently reach the top 10 in the first week and then in the last week again, and more important, members discover new music every single month. With survivors I am afraid many voters just vote for a fav without giving a chance to unkown tracks, they don't even check them once... So the goal of voting for the best is much better achieved in the FSC and that is the real definition of success my friend, at least for me.
