Looks like Ed's reign atop the albums chart is coming to an end, at least momentarily (with the OST selling 5.2k yesterday vs. Ed's 3.0k).

Can't believe he'll likely replace himself next week at #1 on the singles chart lol.

Plus the way streaming contributes to album sales, the more established albums seem to gain by the end of the week as more plays of more tracks are spread throughout the week. Ed seems to have gained quite a few album streaming sales at the end of the week quite a few times in recent months.

Camila Cabello set for this week’s highest new entry on the Official Albums Chart
Black Veil Brides, Leo Sayer and Tonight Alive are also heading for the Top 40.
    http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-new ... rt__21443/
    By Jack White

Camila Cabello is on track to bag this week’s highest new entry on the Official Albums Chart.

The singer’s self-titled debut is currently at Number 2 on today’s Official Chart Update, behind The Greatest Showman soundtrack. Featuring Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron and Michelle Williams, the album reached Number 1 last week and currently leads this week’s chart by 5,000 combined chart sales.

Meanwhile, Camila’s album – featuring five-week Number 1 smash Havana – could become her highest-charting album in the UK. She previously reached a high of Number 6 with Fifth Harmony on 2016’s 7/27.

    New entries and high climbers
Also on course for their highest charting album yet are US rockers Black Veil Brides, who open at Number 10 with their fifth record Vale, while Scottish punk rock group The Skids, who have not released an album since 1981, look to impact the Top 20 with Burning Cities, their first album in over 37 years, at Number 13.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are racing towards a sixth UK Top 40 album with Wrong Creatures (16), American guitarist Joe Satriani could also earn his sixth Top 40 entry this Friday with What Happens Next (17), and Leo Sayer’s The Gold Collection is at Number 21.

Songs of Praise, the debut album from post-punk act Shame is new at Number 25, and one slot behind them are Australian rockers Tonight Alive; Underworld (26) could become their third UK Top 40 record this week.

Finally, heavy metal band Corrosion of Conformity sit at Number 38 with No Cross No Crown, which could be their first UK Top 40 album since 1996.

Eminem on course to claim ninth UK Number 1 single on the Official Singles Chart
Plus singles by Craig David, Sigrid and Camila Cabello are set for big climbs on this week's Official Singles Chart.
    http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-new ... rt__21442/
    By Rob Copsey

Eminem could be claiming his ninth UK Number 1 single this week as his latest single River sets course for the top spot on the Official Singles Chart.

The rapper's current track features Ed Sheeran and is taken from his latest album Revival, which topped the Official Albums Chart last month.

After three weeks at Number 2, River is set to topple Ed Sheeran's Perfect (2) from the top spot, currently 3,000 downloads and streaming equivalent sales ahead at the halfway stage of the chart week.

Eminem already claims the most Number 1 singles for a rap artist in the UK and could extend that record to nine this Friday (Jan 19). Eminem's previous Number 1s are: The Real Slim Shady (2000), Stan (2000), Without Me (2002), Lose Yourself (2002), Just Lose It (2004), Like Toy Soldiers (2005), Smack That (2006, with Akon), and The Monster (2013, with Rihanna).

Meanwhile, Craig David is set to leap up the Top 10 with I Know You ft. Bastille, currently up seven places to Number 3, Ramz's Barking holds firm at 4, and Jason Derulo's Tip Toe is currently up seven places and on track to break the Top 10 at Number 5.

    New entries and high climbers
Two more singles are set to make their Top 10 debut this week: Jax Jones' Breathe ft. Ina Wroldsen jumps from 14 to Number 6, and Sigrid's Strangers vaults 86 places to Number 8 following her BBC Sound Of 2018 win.

Camila Cabello's latest effort Never Be The Same edges closer to the Top 10, up 16 spots to 13, Portugal The Man's Feel It Still lifts 11 places to 21, and Dua Lipa's IDGAF has so far climbed 12 places this week to Number 26.

Further down, BRITs Critics' Choice winner Jorja Smith could make her Top 40 debut with Let Me Down ft. Stormzy at Number 35, Andra Day's 2015 single Rise Up re-enters at 37 after its appearance on The Voice UK over the weekend, and rising star Tom Walker moves 13 places to 39 with Leave A Light On.

Eminem's 'River' Flows to the Top of Midweek U.K. Singles Chart
    https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... gles-chart
    1/16/2018 by Lars Brandle

Shady really is back. Eminem is cruising to his ninth U.K. No. 1 single as “River” (Interscope) featuring Ed Sheeran flows to the head of the midweek survey.

The track, lifted from Em’s latest album Revival, which summited on the Official Albums Chart last month, is 3,000 downloads and streaming equivalent sales ahead of its nearest competitor, "Sheeran’s" “Perfect” (Asylum), at the halfway point in the chart cycle, the Official Charts Company reports.

Eminem’s eight No. 1 singles are the most for any rap artist in the U.K. His hit list includes “The Real Slim Shady” (2000), “Stan” (2000), “Without Me” (2002), “Lose Yourself” (2002), “Just Lose It” (2004), “Like Toy Soldiers” (2005), “Smack That” with Akon (2006) and “The Monster” with Rihanna (2013). “River” will join that roll and extend his record should it hold onto top spot when the Official Singles Chart is published on Friday.

Just behind “Perfect” is Craig David's “I Know You” (Speakerbox Recordings) featuring Bastille, up 10-3 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart Update; while, Ramz's “Barking” (Polydor) is unchanged at No. 4; Jason Derulo's “Tip Toe” (Warner Bros) featuring French Montana rises 12-5 and Jax Jones' ”Breathe” (Polydor) featuring Ina Wroldsen improves 14-6.

Norwegian newcomer Sigrid could cap a spectacular week with her first U.K. top 10. The singer’s “Strangers” (Island) soars 94-8 after she collected the BBC Sound of 2018, an accolade previously won by the likes of Adele, Sam Smith, Haim and Ellie Goulding.

Meanwhile, Camila Cabello has the highest new entry on the Official Albums Chart Update with her debut solo album Camila (Syco Music), which starts at No. 2 behind The Greatest Showman (Atlantic) soundtrack.

Camila could become the pop singer’s highest-charting album on this side of the Atlantic, eclipsing the No. 6 peak of 7/27 (Syco Music), released in 2016 by her former group, Fifth Harmony.

Fall Out Boy and First Aid Kit challenging The Greatest Showman for Number 1 album
Magnum, Go! Team and Whitesnake are also among those heading for the Top 40 this week.
    http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-new ... um__21532/
    By Justin Myers

The Greatest Showman will be hoping for an encore, as the cast recording of the Hugh Jackman movie prepares to spend a third week in the limelight atop the Official Albums Chart.

The soundtrack currently heads up a relatively close Top 3 on today's Update, just over 2,100 combined chart sales ahead of Fall Out Boy, who are at Number 2 and eager for their first UK chart-topping album with seventh studio album Mania.

And a mere 548 chart sales farther back? It's First Aid Kit, whose fourth album Ruins starts at Number 3 – looking pretty certain to give the Swedish folk duo their first Top 10.

There are nine further potential newcomers to this week's Official Albums Chart Top 40, kicking off with veteran rockers Magnum, whose 20th album Lost on the Road to Eternity could give them their first Top 10 in over 27 years, at 8, and Go! Team's Semicircle starts at 17, potentially their first Top 40 in over a decade.

Whitesnake's The Purple Tour Live is new at 21, Aberdeen trio Xcerts' Hold on to Your Heart goes in at 24, California metal band Of Mice & Men start at 25 with Defy, and Fleetwood Mac's reissued self-titled 1975 album lands at Number 26.

American metal outfit Black Label Society eye a second Top 40 at 37 with Grimmest Hits, Def Leppard's Hysteria starts at 38 following the band's back catalogue becoming available on download and streaming services, and the cast recording of the soundtrack for Disney film Moana returns to the Top 40 at 39.

Eminem and Ramz engaged in a rap battle for this week's UK Number 1 single
Drake, Kylie Minogue and Rudimental bring new entries to this week's midweek update.
    http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-new ... le__21531/
    By Jack White

We have a rap battle on our hands for this week’s Official Chart Update.

Last week’s Number 1, River, by Eminem ft. Ed Sheeran is still in front today, but London rapper Ramz is right behind at Number 2 with Barking. Eminem leads on downloads, but Ramz has the edge on streaming – who will grab the top spot on Friday? This has the potential to be one of the tightest chart races in recent memory.

Let’s not count out Sigrid, at 3 today with Strangers, following her appearance on Friday’s The Graham Norton Show. Already eclipsing both Eminem and Ramz in downloads this week, could the BBC Sound Of… 2018 winner’s surge in popularity see her leap ahead by Friday?

xpecting to climb into the Top 10 this Friday are Dua Lipa’s IDGAF, up six to Number 8 and, one place behind, Breathe by Jax Jones ft. Ina Wroldsen, rising three to 9.

Drake surprise-dropped new two-song EP Scary Hours last Friday and one of the two, God’s Plan is on course for a Top 20 position this week, at Number 16. Also cruising to the Top 20 for the first time this week are Portugal. The Man as Feel It Still lifts five places to 20.

Finally, a further three new releases look set to impact this week’s Top 40: Kylie Minogue’s eyes a 51st Top 40 hit with country/pop comeback track Dancing sitting at Number 22 midweek; These Days by Rudimental, Jess Glynne, Macklemore and Dan Caplen is new at 32; and BRITs Critics’ Choice nominee Mabel starts at Number 36 with Fine Line ft. Not3s.

Glad for Sigrid, sad for Kylie but it's expected.

Eminem and Ramz Go Toe-to-Toe for U.K. Singles Chart Crown
    https://www.billboard.com/articles/colu ... gles-chart
    1/23/2018 by Lars Brandle

It’s a rap battle on the U.K.’s midweek singles chart as Eminem and Ramz go toe-to-toe for the title.

Eminem’s current chart leader "River" (Interscope), featuring Ed Sheeran, takes the lead on the Official Singles Chart Update though London rapper Ramz is close behind in second place with “Barking” (Polydor). According to the Official Charts Company, the coming days could see “one of the tightest chart races in recent memory” as Eminem leads on downloads and Ramz has the advantage on streaming.

The newly-anointed BBC Sound Of 2018 champ Sigrid is at No. 3 with “Strangers” (Island) following the Norwegian newcomer’s appearance last Friday on The Graham Norton Show. “Strangers” is outpacing “River” and “Barking” in downloads at the halfway stage.

There’s upward movement from Dua Lipa’s “IDGAF” (Warner Bros), rising 14-8, and Jax Jones’ “Breathe” (Polydor), featuring Ina Wroldsen, improving 12-9, while Drake is eyeing a top 20 entry for "God’s Plan" (Cash Money/Republic Records), one of his Scary Hours EP surprise release, which starts at No. 16. Portugal. The Man is also on track for the top 20 with “Feel It Still” (Atlantic), up 25-20.

Veteran Aussie pop singer Kylie Minogue could nab a 51st top 40 with her comeback track “Dancing” (BMG), which bows at No. 22 on the midweek chart.

On the Official Albums Chart Update, The Greatest Showman (Atlantic) continues to entertain in a big way as the motion picture soundtrack prepares to log a third week at No. 1. But the show’s far from over. Slightly more than 2,100 combined chart sales separate The Greatest Showman and the second-placed album, Fall Out Boy’s seventh studio set Mania (Def Jam), while Swedish folk act First Aid Kit is just 548 chart sales adrift with their fourth album Ruins (Columbia), new at No. 3.

I can see Drake ending up at #1 by Friday. Looks like we'll probably have another One Dance on our hands.

Somebody, please ban streaming from charts forever. I'd prefer see Drake peaking somewhere at #15 with the pure sales chart (vinyl chart is even better).
