I've bookmarked your page for updates so I can check it out when it changes. Some good dance music out - Chocolate Puma, Duke Dumont, Fabich, Oliver all putting out good stuff atm.

Thank you very much! I'm really happy about the throwback vibe in more and more tracks. E.g, this Capital Cities' track is really good, they are active again, awesome! Chocolate Puma was a great duet in the past, now they don't impress that way. However, the catchy piano melody in their new single is cute.

This week's chart sees FF steal a third week at #1 and slightly decreasing their lead on the runner up from last week, but still going strong...Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa hung on in there at #2 despite Duke Dumont releasing a video for Inhale, though there wasn't much in it between the two...Chocolate Puma continues to advance with a modest increase on last week's points and the haunting sound of Talk Talk reincarnation Lo Moon round the off the top 5. Elsewhere Yehan Jehan's celebration of 70s and 80s pop continues as 'Eat Me Alive' jumps eighteen places into the Top 10. "Day 1" by Honne and "Wanna Be You" by Her are two funk-influenced tracks, which both enter the Top 20 within two places of each other (Her still yet to reach the Top 10). Ssion (shun) is a high new entry at #18 with the cool laid back "At Least the Sky is Blue" on which appears a rather different Ariel Pink, the video is entertaining :-) and the track is fairly similar to Empire of the Sun.

They are Violet Sands and their new track is called "What Do You Feel" and has a positive but mellow sound. They've recorded it with Justin Faust who produces a lot of nu-disco tracks from Germany.

It's four weeks at #1 for Friendly Fires who have this week outperformed their nearest rival by more 2:1 which is quite a turnaround from earlier in the week when it looked as though Ssion & Ariel Pink were going to make a mighty leap to the top of the chart. I'm still playing FF a lot so it probably isn't going anywhere soon and this week you are treated to the remix from Alex Metric (which isn't bad)...talking of four weeks, that's how long Amber Mark's track has been in the Top 20 and after its slow burn it finally breaks into the Top 10...also, Her have reached the Top 10 for the first time, and in celebration of this (should have been top 10 hit) Swim re-enters the chart at #39. This week's highest new entry is predictably from Violet Sands, with a sort-of Zero 7 sound emerging from them...and the only other new entry in the Top 20 is from London band Colouring who has been on one of my playlists since 29th March. It's nearly Eurovision again! No appearance here yet from the favourite - Israel's Netta, but Norway's Alexander Rybak enters the Top 40 a week ahead of the finale, and the Surie who represents the UK has already achieved a higher position than last year's flop...

Friendly Fires - it's still the best track around for me atm, notching up 5 weeks now as Ssion doesn't manage to dethrone it nor keep it's runner up position...the Calvin Harris song has got a bit more longevity I think. It's a big move into the Top 4 for Her with Wanna Be You which is not an official release but clearly the best song on their self-titled album, and there's a surprising climb into the Top Ten from London producer Blinkie with Save Me which sounds as though it originates from around the early 00s. Without the Eurovision impact most of the other climbs are modest at best and new arrivals come from Franz Ferdinand (there's something about those initials :-)) and Prides with On Our Own from the second installment of their double album.

Another year another Eurovision, and of the five tracks to make it in to the chart this week it's Norway who come out on top with the slightly corny (!) That's How You Write a Song, while SuRie did okay making it to #24 (not a strong track but it got in my head a bit during the week)...then there's Sweden's too cool for school track at #48 (last year's entry from Robin Bengtsson reached #3), the outright winner Netta at #59 and finally Ireland's first entry for five years edging in at #70.

Six weeks now atop my chart for Love Like Waves, giving Friendly Fires their biggest ever hit here...and a completely static top 5, which doesn't happen too often. Further down Satin Jackets leap into the Top 10 with another subtle pulsating track which has taken a long time to grow on me...Honne edging up very slowly (probably peaking this week) and Violet Sands hitting the Top 10 for the first time. Biggest new entry of the week is from new London producer Smokin Jack Hill who blends a lot of old sounds into quite a banger of a tune, I read somewhere that Lyn Collins Think About It has been used more than 800 times in dance records through the years! After last week’s mention it’s a huge new entry for Christine & the Queens this week at #2 but it wasn’t enough to unseat FF who yet again is this week’s favourite, and now has the joint longest run of 7 weeks (Yehan Jehan did it in 2016 with Swallow the Horizon). And I have to mention the other big news in the Top 10 as Disclosure’s lyric-less new track bounces in at #7 and Luke Steele’s new band jumps a huge 26 places to #9. Outside of that - another big climb for The Parcels with a great summery sound of violin riffs and jangly guitars, followed by a modest move up to #14 by Bipolar Sunshine whose arms are always either open or hoping for you. There are 10 new entries in the chart and most notable of those from the cluster around 19-24 is that of rock band Arkells and People’s Champ with its anthemic sound while a catchy piece of Swedish Indie Pop arrives at #31 from Taken by Trees.

This week a video was released for Love Like Waves which sees the band play live to a large group of young fans on the Italian island of Favigana, and it’s this that secures FF a record breaking eighth week at #1, keeping strong competition from C&tQ at #2. The video has about 50 seconds of the best parts of the track edited out which was annoying but it injects a bit of new energy into the song at the same time, so I’m on the fence. Whether it can hold out for 9 weeks who knows but C&tQ is busy growing in popularity and the jump from 13 to 3 for Parcels surely makes it a 3-horse race next week. There are other impressive moves into the Top 10 for Bipolar Sunshine & Little Boots, whose last hit was Headphones back in 2012. Elsewhere it’s mainly about Australia this week with both highest new entries from Sydney-based artists from the same record label, Hayden James scoring his biggest hit to date…and Brisbane-based indie band Cub Sport gets the biggest climber with the RNB-tinged Crush.

This week's future hit sounds like something from 1990...>>

Yes it’s a finally a big change as this week’s Top 3 is a reverse of last week’s with C&tQ sandwiched in the middle for a 3rd week at #2. Despite FF still being high on my playlist it was Parcels who stormed ahead towards the end of the week and it’s great progress for the band whose earlier tracks to chart during 2017 were Older and Overnight. Tieduprightnow has such a feel good sound, it repeats itself a lot but is very infectious and a well-deserved #1…maybe it’ll hold until the next FF track is released.

Elsewhere this week, it certainly wasn’t a Bad Decision for Chromeo to release their current single as it gives them an 18-place jump to #9 giving them their biggest ever hit to date…Little is known to me about the enigma that is Phil Good – Google keeps sending me to someone who practises as a spiritual healer, whatever I enjoy listening to Better and it may make the Top 10 next week…some interesting new arrivals from Lenny Kravitz (and Michael Jackson), Jungle and Confidence Man, but this week’s highest Top 40 new entry is from French Producer Borussia whose light track Vuole Ballare (Wants to Dance) entirely appeals to me because of its many catchy little synths, while the video stars Borussia himself spoofing a TV cookery show that keeps going wrong. Ahem.

Christine & the Queens has been racking up the plays over the last few weeks and in its fourth week ousts Parcels after their scoop in last week's chart. This is partly helped by video plays – I've got to admit I'm impressed with her choreography which is pretty damn good. I haven’t listened much to French-sung Damn, dis-moi but I’m intrigued by its existence, so add a few more plays in the coming week and she'll probably hold #1 for a couple of weeks. Another non-English sung track is from Borussia featuring Malvina (Meinier) which entered at #57 two weeks ago and this week races into the Top Ten. Sung in Italian the track is a far cry from Meinier’s usual musical style which I would describe as experimental/alternative - much like Bjork. The biggest climber is from neo-soul collective Jungle whose track Happy Man just misses the top 10 but becomes their biggest hit. Lyrically it meanders along getting particularly nowhere, apparently teasing materialism when it gets to the chorus. On a lighter note, the highest chart entry (into the Top 40) is Aussie musician Hatchie with Sleep, sort of Chvrches-sounding and slightly reminds me of 90s shoegaze. Kylie Minogue gets the actual highest new new entry (what?!) surprisingly with Golden (I actually thought it would chart higher ha ha). I've not been massively involved with the Country album but this track's okay.
