S Club 7's Paul Cattermole is selling his BRIT Award and it's going for £60,000 on eBay

    Don't stop biddin'.

S Club 7 member Paul Cattermole is selling his BRIT Award on eBay, and it's going for a huge amount of money.

The former member of the iconic pop group did not expect to get much for his Best Newcomer statuette from 2000.

However, after an initial struggle to shift it when it was first listed on January 5, he's really taken on board S Club's advice to don't stop, never give up.The bids have completely skyrocketed in the past few days, and currently stand at £66,000. Yes, really.

The award is described as being in "very good condition", though notes that it "hasn't been professionally polished" and that there are "signs of age".

Paul admitted that he is selling it because he needs the cash, telling Newsbeat: "I don't want the other members to think that I am dissing the band by selling it but there are bills to pay.

"It's time to let the past be the past. S Club 7 was one of the best things I've ever been involved in, I really miss those guys."

Following the sudden rise in bids, Paul wrote: "I didn't expect it to skyrocket like this. I am watching every bid very closely and the vast majority of people have huge feedback. Some in the thousands.

"If there are some silly bids at the end on Monday I will be deleting them and/or coming straight down the line to the next bidder. So you can bid with full confidence. Plus, this does change the travel distance for the meet and greet and make it much larger."

The singer has already promised a meet-and-greet, with photo, for whoever wins the bid – well, we'd expect nothing less with that amount of money!

Digital Spy has reached out to the British Phonographic Industry – which oversees the BRITs – for comment.

Paul was a member of S Club until 2002, though reunited with them in 2014 and toured in 2015.

Must be desperate. It’s not worth that much. Surprised Jo O’Meara hasn’t done the same.

He looks now like a fairly good-looking metal band frontman

Judging by the article and the fact he's selling an Award trophy because he needs cash you can tell life hasn't treated him that well all these years and situations like that can age people really fast.

Jo O’Meara blasted for flogging S Club 7 merchandise on eBay

Despite a successful reunion tour with S Club 7 earlier this year, Jo O’Meara has been busy selling old band merchandise on eBay.
The 36-year-old tweeted links to all of the items, which included a signed tour brochure and the trousers she wore during the big announcement in 2014.

According to reports, Jo received mixed prices for her sales – with a signed picture of herself going for just 99p.

But, while some have hit out at the former Celebrity Big Brother star for essentially selling off her memories, it appears Jo is just freeing up space as she prepares to move house.

Jo has sold stuff before - usually for a dog charity she supports I believe. Mel B did the same a few years ago though when she moved house, and she ‘accidentally’ sold a cassette tape with an unreleased Spice Girls song on it

Or maybe he just wants to ditch those S Club 7 memories he has.

Still, he’s let himself go a lot compared to the rest of the band.

I often wonder how do formerly successful acts make money after their music careers are over? Regular job? Investing in property? Living off royalties and odd gigs here and there?

    I found this interesting:

According to former member Hannah Spearritt, each of them earned only £600,000 over the four years of their most successful period, despite generating millions of sales.
