I loved all these songs during 2018. All of which went #1 on my chart apart from Lara & Tina.
Awesome that an Australian act was your #1 of the year. It's great how open you are to Australian artists.

Once I love an artist, I am always curious when they release something new. So eventhough they don't reach the charts here, I'll add them to my playlists anyway.

Australian acts I really love (got all their cd's, seen them in concert):
    Tina Arena, Kylie Minogue

Other Australian acts in my playlist (and can think of on top of my head):
Wendy Matthews, Jessica Mauboy, Air Supply, Olivia Newton-John, Vanessa Amorosi, John Farnham, Jason Donovan

Wow how many weeks has Caution been #1 now? Is that a record?
I'll have to check it out. GTFO is really good, but as a very casual Mariah Carey fan I prefer her ballads. Love Takes Time and Can't Let Go are amazing!

I have a weekly chart since March last year. Demi Lovato spend most weeks at #1 with Sober, 4 weeks in total.
Mariah's Caution beats this record with being #1 for 8 weeks now.
But Kelly Clarkson holds the real record for being #1 for 4 months in 2017 with It's Quiet Uptown.

    13. (09) Kelly Clarkson | Never Enough (10 weeks) peak #2
    14. (ne) Rita Ora | Only Want You (1 week) peak #14
    15. (ne) ABBA | I've Been Waiting For You (1 week) peak #15

    OUT:
    07. (ne) Paula Abdul | Vibeology (1 week) peak #7
    08. (06) Ariana Grande | Imagine (5 weeks) peak #4
    12. (16) Ariana Grande | breathin (12 weeks) peak #7

    14. (13) Mariah Carey | Portrait (8 weeks) peak #7
    15. (18) Mariah Carey | One Mo' Gen (7 weeks) peak #6

    Highlights:
Mariah's Caution spend 9(!) weeks at #1 and now slips just one place to make way for the latest single by Ariana Grande. Meanwhile, most songs leaving the chart are also by Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande.
While Ariana enters at #1, we also have two new entries at the lower region of the chart. When I read how many people here love Rita Ora's Only Want You, I thought I'd give it another chance. I'm not really taken by it (yet) though. The chart closes with ABBA's I've Been Waiting For You. I've been playing the Mamma Mia! version for months, just not enough times to have it chart. It now has made me discover the original version by ABBA and I start liking the song more and more.

    10. (13) Kelly Clarkson | Never Enough (11 weeks) peak #2
    11. (10) Suzan & Freek | Als Het Avond Is (5 weeks) peak #9
    12. (11) Mark Ronson feat. Miley Cyrus | Nothing Breaks Like A Heart (9 weeks) peak #4
    13. (15) ABBA | I've Been Waiting For You (2 weeks) peak #13
    14. (ne) Sjors van der Panne feat. Duncan Laurence | Laat Gaan (1 week) peak #14
    15. (ne) Amanda Seyfried | I've Been Waiting For You (1 week) peak #15

    OUT:
    09. (re) Mariah Carey | With You (15 weeks) peak #1
    12. (re) Mariah Carey | 8th Grade (7 weeks) peak #7
    14. (ne) Rita Ora | Only Want You (1 week) peak #14

    Highlights:
When I heard Duncan Laurence is to represent our country at Eurovision, I went looking for his songs. The only thing I can find on Spotifiy is him as a feature artist. I'm looking forward to some good songs for Eurovision like Michael Rice's Bigger Than Us. Hope he'll be chosen to represent the UK as I love that song so much and can't wait for it to be released on Spotify.
Meanwhile the highest entry is for Australian singer Dean Lewis. When he read he was really doing well in Australia I decided to check out his new song 7 Minutes (which just missed my personal list at #16) and his biggest hit Be Alright. I love (the clean version) of Be Alright so much. Especially how he uses the typical Australian word "mate".

Ariana & Lara both releasing new albums on the same day! I must be like Christmas all over again for you Ray I'm quite enjoying Papillon as it has a similar sound to her previous album which I loved, just in French this time. I think she has a good chance of debuting on the top of my album and songs chart next week. Curious to see how she places on your chart.

So far Alien is my favourite. What's your initial favourite from the album?

Also, nice to see some more Australiana happening in your charts this week. Last night we chose our entrant for Eurovision this year. She's an operatic/pop/indie artist called Kate Miller-Heidke. I think could potentially be one of the more unusual entries this year...

    25. (ne) Michael Bublé | My Funny Valentine (4 weeks) peak #19

    OUT:
No songs out this week. The list just got longer again, from 12 to 25 tracks as more new music that I like got released last week.

    Highlights:
While favorites Lara Fabian and Ariana Grande released new albums last week, Lara only has one new entry and Ariana two. But the Pet Shop Boys also have two new entries and out of the blue there was this EP by Meghan Trainor which give her five(!) new entries.
I was a bit surprised myself to see Ariana's new single enter at #1 as I thought I had still listened most of the time to 7 Rings, which to my surprise drops to #3. Ariana is lucky though that Michael Rise's Bigger Than Us (the Eurovision candidate for the UK) is still not available on Spotify. I love that song so much and can't wait to stream it.

I never post a most scrobbled album chart, but this is my Top 3 (all new) from last week:
    1. Ariana Grande | thank u, next
    2. Meghan Trainor | The Love Train
    3. Lara Fabian | Papillon

I have played the first two singles of Lara already a lot, so now I'm more listening to the new songs of which Alien is my favorite (just like you!)

I've only listened to Kate Miller-Heidke once. Didn't like it on first listen.

    25. (ne) Michael Bublé | My Funny Valentine (4 weeks) peak #19

    Highlights:
Ariana Grande replaces herself at #1, bringing 7 Rings back to the top spot. Michael Bublé's My Funny Valentine is replaced by his new single (an exclusive for Spotify) Buena Sera. With six new entries, the list gets longer again. Katy Perry and Zedd are the highest new entry, but if P!nk had released her new single on Friday, she'd probably not only been the highest new entry, but also the current #1 hit as Walk Me Home was only released on Wednesday, so only had two days of scrobbling. Also worth mentioning: Meghan Trainor has no less than 7 songs in the chart. Amazing!
