Soooo I went last night, to Leeds, and I'm still on a high from it! I was right at the front in the golden circle - when she popped up out of the middle of the stage to begin with Golden I couldn't quite believe how close I was to her and she looked amazing. I don't know whether it's just because of how close I was, but I enjoyed this show more than any of the previous four times I've seen her. She performed every track to the max and appears to be absolutely loving her career at this stage, you can just tell she's doing every show because she wants to be there and her on-stage rapport is even better than ever. I was SO jealous of the guy she gave her "wild rose" to!

Highlights: so many... but I loved The One (she seemed emotional at one stage), Lost Without You (worked so well), New York City/Raining Glitter/OANLT (campest segment and I lost my shit to Raining Glitter), the cannons firing out toward the end of All The Lovers, loved Kids this time (I was practically duetting with one of the other singers ) and Dancing was a joy. Oh - and when she got everyone to do a singalong to Neighbours

Her voice, honestly, sounds so strong. She belted out some impressive notes toward the end of Spinning Around and nailed Confide In Me (only dodged one of the big notes near the start). She had some technical difficulties during Wouldn't Change A Thing and had to go off for 30 seconds, then said she couldn't hear the track for the last half of the song but she didn't lose key or timing once.

    A few photos:

I know there's hasn't been officially announced her touring Australia, but has anybody heard any rumors if Golden is having more dates outside Europe? US, Canada or Latin America perhaps??

I was supposed to be going to her concert in Dublin today so I’m a bit sad tbh. I’d much rather wait to see her in full health though rather than have her miming. It’s my first time to see her in concert so I’m glad that she’s rescheduling and our tickets will still be valid. Wouldn’t want to miss it by default!! Get well soon Kylie. Can’t wait for the concert whenever it may be.

Poor Kylie - hope she feels better soon!

(I wonder if she will live up to the Guinness is on me remark haha - cause that'll be a large bar tab for her).

I wasn't fortunate enough to see the Golden Tour live, but thanks to fan recorded footage available on YouTube I've now watched three shows: the opening night in Newcastle, the follow up show in Nottingham and one of the London concerts.

I'll start with the most glaring criticism for me: the styling of the dancers. I'm not sure who styled them, but it seems that all the focus was on making Kylie look great with not as much attention paid to anyone else on the stage. The styling improved drastically in the second half, but at times it borders on unforgivable, particularly during In Your Eyes, A Lifetime to Repair, Wow and Can't Get You Out of My Head.

The setlist works much better in practice than it looks on paper, but the initial arrangement was stronger. One Last Kiss isn't one of my favourites on Golden, but it works well before Better the Devil You Know in the context of the narrative, and I Believe in You clearly doesn't fit as a replacement of Breathe. I think it could have worked following Confide in Me, but having its original uptempo arrangement feels silly during a section of the show which is meant to present Kylie as an open mic singer in a bar.

The narrative takes some getting used to because it's subtle and at first viewing some of the song choices are not very obvious insofar as the concepts that have been created. I do feel that a conscious decision was made to not stage this concert as a show in the sense that a typical Kylie concert would be conceptualised; I think with Golden offering a more intimate, low key musical direction the tour has been made to reflect that. The staging is more scaled back and there isn't as much visual spectacle; due to this I think a decision was made to place Kylie's natural presence at the forefront of the concert rather than have her play certain characters or personas as she would with a typical William Baker production.

There's a great deal to love here: the lighting in particular is fantastic, the musical direction is excellent; fresh and inventive interpretations of much of Kylie's back catalogue including In Your Eyes, Wow, Can't Get You Out of My Head, Slow, Wouldn't Change a Thing, All the Lovers and The Loco-Motion are among the show's highlights, and Kylie clearly has a strong connection to the Golden material. My appreciation of Radio On has improved drastically after seeing her perform it, whilst Lost Without You, my favourite song from Golden, is another strong point for me. It's a unique tour for Kylie, perhaps a little far removed from her usual concert experience, but it's all the better for me for that reason.

Vocally, this might be the best she's sounded on any tour. Her vocal control is brilliant, her range and tone broader; it's not surprising that she's been unwell with a throat infection given how much she's pushing herself vocally here. I was extremely surprised by how powerful her voice sounds. Her performance is confident and radiant. I think she feels passionately about this show and had much more of a creative input into the development of the tour.

I'm excited to see the tour with professionally recorded footage, and anxious to see if any exchanges will be made to the setlist or show when it resumes its dates next month. Overall, like Golden itself, I think this tour is a grower and one that you have an appreciation of overtime with repeated viewings. It isn't without flaws, but it's a very particular Kylie concert that I'm glad she has given to us, and the strengths of the tour succeed in spades.

Nice read Yoshie! Good to hear more positive comments about her voice.

The song I enjoyed the least in the live context is CGYOOMH - it never packs a punch without the original, Blue Monday or Greg Kurstin mixes for me.

Thanks, Thriller! I think the musical direction of the tour in general was great; a fantastic job was done with rearranging K's back catalogue to meld with the sound of Golden.

I think my favourite part of the tour on the whole is the first section of the The High and Dry act. The imaginative Blue Velvet video interlude, the acoustic renditions of Confide in Me and Breathe, which Kylie blows out of the water vocally, and the wild rose interaction with the Where the Wild Roses Grow excerpt were a wonderful nod to her Deconstruction period. I'd love for Where the Wild Roses Grow to be added to the setlist in full for the November European shows. The Studio 54 act is also fantastic. I think it was added to compensate for the rest of the show being a little too anti-Kylie; it's the only segment that I think truly embodies her persona. The Raining Glitter section of the medley needs to be extended, though!

I'm sad that I didn't grab a ticket for the opening Newcastle show which is so close to where I live.

It was only a 6.5k capacity venue too. 2.3k if she was having seating.
