Well, his entire life was edited from the beginning with how/when he joined the band, how/when the band made it, how/when bandmates started going solo, how/when he was betrayed, when they actually last played together before Live Aid, when he actually knew about his HIV status, and completely erased everything he had done after Live Aid as if that was the last time anyone had last seen of him...So are you surprised by the fact that they had simplified his sexuality as well?

A well-deserved win for Rami! His portrayal of Freddie was immaculate.

Finally seen this. I absolutely loved it. Rami was just amazing in the part.

It was an enjoyable film. It was nice to see that the portrayals weren't treated in a soap opera kind of fashion. The acting was so realistic and as sad as how it turned out for Freddie, his death wasn't made out to be a tragedy in the movie. It deserved the success and awards!

Well I finally got around to seeing this... and I absolutely adored it. I think they hit the note exactly right. Yes the time lines have been moved around slightly, but as a biop its incredibly well done. That Oscar was well deserved.

Have now seen this and I agree it is a really good film. However there are some weird historical errors! For instance why was MC Hammer playing in a 1980 party?
And it appears that We Will Rock You, despite being in the charts in 1977, was written in 1984!
Kenny Everett seemed a lot more "camp" than I remember him too. But I suppose he was a very difficult person to portray on the screen.

Despite those the sound was great and was just like being at a rock concert, not that I have been to one

That confused me too, but did you only hear the instrumental or the voice too, cause it could be Super Freak from Rick James and that would fit to the party.
I am not trying to seduce you... Would you like me to seduce you? Is that what you're trying to tell me?

As ALL songs in a movie have to be credited for copyright reasons, even if only the words are quoted, then Rick's song should be in the end credits. I will check that out when I next watch it.
