Just listened to the whole thing for the first time. It's incredible as I expected, with top notch production and great contributions from both of them. I was pleasantly surprised by how much more Beyoncé was featured on the record compared to Jay-Z, as I expected it to be either equal or the opposite.
Having said that, I have to admit that I was expecting more variety in the songs' context than the constant bragging demonstrated. I don't have anything against celebrating their success and journey, but both of them managed to create a fantastic narrative with their previous albums, which explored personal, racial and political issues that I thought were going to be explored even further, whilst in this album they have relatively taken the backseat.
Early standouts for me are Apesh*t, Black Effect and Lovehappy.
