For UK standards, it's actually a good week when 8k are not enough to reach the top 10.

At least 2x Platinum is guaranteed. In the last 4 years, only P!nk and Adele managed to sell more than 500k+ with an album in the UK, among the pop divas, the others can only dream.

Odd comparison, look at the number of other pop divas who released soundtracks tied to a musical movie in the past 4 years (it's zero); "The Greatest Showman" sold 1.7M there, "Bohemian Rhapsody" & "Mamma Mia" also scanned Platinum (despite being albums full of old songs) - the UK loves musical soundtracks (3 in the top 10 biggest albums of 2018)

Don't forget Paloma Faith, all her releases went double platinum in UK and her latest sold around 400k in UK. Also Jess Glynne will manage double platinum by the end of the year as well.

    http://m.hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=315673
John Janick’s Interscope Geffen A&M has come out of the gate at full gallop, seizing the #2 slot behind Atlantic, as Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born ST continues its extended run, while “Shallow” is the top-selling song YTD with another 340k, just missing the Top 10 with 796k in total activity
Shallow is #11 in the Year-end so far and best selling digital song

Well, Jess Glynne has not even reached Platinum yet, she’ll do it next week... So she will need to sell 7.5k weekly to reach 2xPlat before the year end. That is, staying in top 15 till 31 Dec. Unless there’s a re-edition, it will be difficult.
Even if she does, it will be half of what her debut sold.
Regarding Paloma, her last 2xPlat album is from 2014. Her latest album has sold 390k, so really far from double platinum.
It sold half of what her previous album sold.

Which pretty much sums what, I think, Million was trying to say, females have a hard time selling albums in UK lately.

Even though I see a pretty clear hidden agenda in what you’re posting, I agree to certain extent.
Even though Gaga wrote and performed 95% of the songs on the album, it is an OST, not her album. So it cannot be 100% compared to other females studio albums.

It cannot be fully compared to those other OST you mentioned either, though.
As you said, Mamma Mia and BH are full of hit songs of two bands who are massive in UK.
TGS is way bigger in UK than ASIB. That’s for sure. It’s a phenomenon in UK (actually UK accounts for more than 50% of the album’s total sales), it has a tour there,TV promo, opening the BRITS, a singalong version, the re-imagined version, the movie grossed a lot more (65M vs. 39M) and TGS is an album with lots of different artists singing while ASIB is basically a Gaga album with Bradley on a few songs.

There are as well many other examples of musical movies OST who weren’t #1 and Platinum (on course to 2xPlat) in UK. It’s not like the success is guaranteed either for every OST.

Are you pressed? First of all, even being a soundtrack, ASIB OST remains an album of Gaga's discography, and a female album. Secondly, TGS did sell and move oceans in the UK, and that's exactly what swallowed ASIB sales in that country, precisely because TGS has encompassed all audiences who love soundtracks in the last two years. Third, it is OBVIOUS that the Bohemiam Rhapsody soundtrack would sell well, Queen has literally the best selling album in history in the UK and has another in the top 10 and ABBA, they have the UK's second best selling album, and another in the top 50. By that, we know that there is no way to compare two films about two extremely idolized groups in that country with ASIB. "The Uk loves" soundtracks ", I've already explained above that only ASIB has merit to be in the top 10 of the majors of 2018, since it is the only one that does not have a legacy or famous songs to boost their sales. are basically Greatest Hits, of course they would sell well, even more so with a film about such legends, only an idiot would compare ASIB with those soundtracks that have recently hit UK. It's not Gaga's fault if the UK canceled Rihanna 7 years ago and since then she doesn't get a top 20 hit in the UK without singles with rappers, djs etc... Not to mention that since Una, Rihanna can't sold more than 200k in the UK with an album (remember that ANTI has sold half of ARTPOP and less than Joanne in the UK, even with a debut of the first single in the biggest award of that country, featuring the greatest rapper of all time).

    No need to insult anyone.
And Rihanna (or any other artist on someone’s avatar) has NOTHING to do here.
