A couple of months back, trebor suggested creating a thread like this and I've only just remembered. This thread is for all those random thoughts you have about TV shows where you've felt there's no suitable topic to put them in.

One rule is that all major "WTF" spoilers need to be put into spoiler tags please.

I no longer watch any of the DCTV shows. I gave up on Arrow during S4 and wasn't oversold on either The Flash nor Supergirl pilots but their annual crossover episode where they visit Smallville, and the old Smallville theme song came on gave me all the feels. If it weren't for that show and it's hardcore fanbase, none of these current superhero shows would exist.

So is this our version of Googlebox?

Side note - Iím not a fan of Googlebox. Itís alright if you have 10 minute here and there, but I donít need to watch people watching TV, whilst on TV.

I'm sure there was a daily online soap once, but it was literally just the script was EastEnders: E20 daily?

Gogglebox is past its best but I still watch it - love Jenny and Lee, Giles and Mary and the dad from the Manc family.

Can anyone remember that really crappy soap from years ago called Family Affairs?

Watched a clip earlier randomly as it popped up as a quiz question on my Tipping Point app ( ) and omg - it was terrible!

I remember Family Affairs, also remember seeing Freema Agyeman in that before her stint in Doctor Who.

I wish it were on Netflix so I can watch it in HQ.

Netflix need to add more old shows in general. Iím all for loss of new seriesí but thereís so many great old ones that arenít available anywhere.

30 Rock was hilarious. The worst thing about it was Tracy Morgan though.

I never watched Family Affairs but it canít have been any worse than the Crossroads reboot (which I did watch initially but gave up on when they gave it an OTT camp revamp).

Mid 90s Brookside was the best soap. The development and continuity of characters was so strong.

Youíre right, Brookside was amazing. From what Iíve seen of their 80s days, their characters were iconic too.

So many classic moments between Trevor Jordacheís murder and the Millennium Club explosion.

I think it lost its way around 1998 when it began to focus on the capers of the new and improved Lindsay Corkhill.

Despite some crazy storylines, it felt the most realistic. For instance, characters would hold grudges for years. In other soaps, a grudge lasts a few months. Even the fact that there were 2 characters named Jackie/Jacqui living on the same street. Donít think Iíve ever seen 2 permanentl, long term characters co-exist and share the same name on other soaps

Yeah like Ron Dixon never getting on with Jimmy after he caused the death of his son.

Lindsay and Jackie having a fling with the same woman, despite neither of them ever showing lesbian tendencies before, was ridiculous.

Blind Jacqui Dixon was one of my faves.

Leanne Powell, who caused her blindness, became one of the funniest characters ever upon her release from prison.

Julia Brogan was comedy gold too. Corrie definitely modelled some of Blanche from her

Just watched BBC2ís Death and Nightingales... a new Jamie Dornan period romance story. Never did I ever think it could be crap. But it was. Not even a topless sex scene save it.

Downloaded it for over Xmas after recommendations from colleagues. I heard good things though, and itís a true story (Ruth Wilson plays her own grandmother).

The BBC has quite a lot of good stuff coming up though which may distract me though... and theyíve added a load of great box sets to iPlayer for the festive period which is even better.

I'll check it out at some point then.

Anyone who still hasn't seen it, Killing Eve was one of the best shows of the last few years for me.
