Space Cowboy is lovely and I really like Please too. She did a version with Matt Terry which is also great!

"I Said Hi" has such a catchy chorus! "Space Cowboy" is good, though not one of my top tunes from Golden Hour.

Thanks for commenting, king oxymoron, JSparksFan and heppolo!

"Space Cowboy" probably gained some extra plays from being released early, but it's still my third favourite on the album (just by a smaller margin than indicated by total plays).

    #20. Cassadee Pope – Take You Home S V

    Total Plays: 308
    Best Month: April (39%)
    Highest Weekly Plays: 38
Peak Position on Weekly Chart: 3

#19. Joyce Jonathan – Tu es si grand et je suis toute petite S A

    (Album cover)

    Total Plays: 324
    Best Month: October (87%)
    Highest Weekly Plays: 137
Peak Position on Weekly Chart: 4

    #18. Caroline Kole – Adamantine S A

    Total Plays: 342
    Best Month: August (57%)
    Highest Weekly Plays: 66
Peak Position on Weekly Chart: 2

    #17. Joyce Jonathan – On S V

    Total Plays: 375
    Best Month: October (55%)
    Highest Weekly Plays: 87
Peak Position on Weekly Chart: 5

    #16. Avril Lavigne – Head Above Water S V

    Total Plays: 380
    Best Month: October (46%)
    Highest Weekly Plays: 116
Peak Position on Weekly Chart: 1 (1 week)

Avril has charted with more songs on my weekly chart than anyone else, and with this song she also retook the position as the one with the most number ones. She's not been as successful on the YEC. After 2002 (when she was #2, #4 and #6) she's only reached the top 10 once, with "Hush Hush" in 2013 (#10).

    #15. Kacey Musgraves – Butterflies S V

    (Album cover)

    Total Plays: 424
    Best Month: March (34%)
    Highest Weekly Plays: 69
Peak Position on Weekly Chart: 3

#14. Jessie Chris – Heart to Break Your Heart S A

    (Album cover)

    Total Plays: 430
    Best Month: January (74%)
    Highest Weekly Plays: 221
Peak Position on Weekly Chart: 1 (4 weeks)

    #13. Merlyn Uusküla – Täiskuuöö S A

    Total Plays: 445
    Best Month: April (52%)
    Highest Weekly Plays: 188
Peak Position on Weekly Chart: 2

#12. Joyce Jonathan – Je suis une tortue S A

    (Album cover)

    Total Plays: 454
    Best Month: October (63%)
    Highest Weekly Plays: 129
Peak Position on Weekly Chart: 4

    #11. Katelyn Tarver – Never Fade S V

    Total Plays: 465
    Best Month: March (49%)
    Highest Weekly Plays: 92
Peak Position on Weekly Chart: 1 (3 weeks)

    Poll Result

This is the final result of the poll on the first page:

Two of these songs have already been revealed ("Heart to Break Your Heart" at #14 and "Never Fade" at #11). The others will be in the top 10, and we will find out shortly whether 86%, 14% or 0% of the voters guessed correctly.

    #10. Leah Daniels – Flying S A

    (Album cover)

    Total Plays: 475
    Best Month: August (28%)
    Highest Weekly Plays: 67
Peak Position on Weekly Chart: 3

    #9. Leah Daniels – One More Round S A

    (Album cover)

    Total Plays: 476
    Best Month: August (27%)
    Highest Weekly Plays: 69
Peak Position on Weekly Chart: 3

Two songs right next to each other by Canadian country pop singer Leah Daniels, and with the same peak position and nearly identical number of plays. They don't sound exactly the same though, and this is not Leah's highest song on the YEC!

    #8. Amy Shark – Don't Turn Around S A

    (Album cover)

    Total Plays: 551
    Best Month: August (77%)
    Highest Weekly Plays: 211
Peak Position on Weekly Chart: 1 (2 weeks)

My clear favourite on the debut album by Australian singer/songwriter Amy Shark.

    #7. Joyce Jonathan – Désaccord S A

    (Album cover)

    Total Plays: 686
    Best Month: October (55%)
    Highest Weekly Plays: 177
Peak Position on Weekly Chart: 2

The first of three songs for French singer/songwriter Joyce Jonathan in the top 10, which means that two artists have three songs each in the top 10. This has not happened any of the previous 18 years, although a few times one artist has had four or more songs.

    #6. Catherine McGrath – Enough for You S A

    (Album cover)

    Total Plays: 689
    Best Month: August (59%)
    Highest Weekly Plays: 255
Peak Position on Weekly Chart: 1 (2 weeks)

Catherine follows up her two YEC top 10 hits last year ("Thought It Was Gonne Be Me" at #5 and "Talk of This Town" at #8) with this song from her debut album. This definitely sounds more like classic pop than country.

    #5. ????? ???? – ? ???????? S A

    Total Plays: 720
    Best Month: September (60%)
    Highest Weekly Plays: 219
Peak Position on Weekly Chart: 1 (4 weeks)

The first ever song in Russian to reach the top 10 on the YEC (or higher than #65). It was released early in the year (and a different version even in late 2017), but I didn't find it until September. I have been studying the Russian language (just for fun) for a while now, so I was very happy to finally find a song in that language that I like this much.

    #4. Leah Daniels – 1st S V

    Total Plays: 780
    Best Month: February (53%)
    Highest Weekly Plays: 384
Peak Position on Weekly Chart: 1 (3 weeks)

With the highest weekly plays for any song in 2018 (although we have to go back to 2006 to find a year where no song reached 390 or higher) this became Leah's by far biggest hit when it showed up, and it kept that position after her new (second) album was released.

This is the only song in the top 10 with a proper music video:

    #3. Joyce Jonathan – Une parenthèse S A

    (Album cover)

    Total Plays: 788
    Best Month: October (61%)
    Highest Weekly Plays: 224
Peak Position on Weekly Chart: 1 (5 weeks)

This was the first song from Joyce Jonathan's new album that I went nuts about, even before I listened to the entire album. It even felt like a somewhat serious contender for YEC #1 at one point.

    #2. Joyce Jonathan – Que veux-tu de moi ? S A

    (Album cover)

    Total Plays: 799
    Best Month: October (42%)
    Highest Weekly Plays: 158
Peak Position on Weekly Chart: 1 (3 weeks)

This ballad managed to keep some of its powers hidden the first few weeks, and it was only later in November and December (as seen by the lower percentage of October plays than for the other songs on the album) that it started to outpace "Une Parenthèse" and "Désaccord", which turned out to be enough to become the most played Joyce Jonathan song. The difference between #4 and #2 has never been as small as this year.

    #1. Kacey Musgraves – Happy & Sad S A

    (Album cover)

    Total Plays: 1,897
    Best Month: April (29%)
    Highest Weekly Plays: 232
    Peak Position on Weekly Chart: 1 (14 weeks) [11 + 3]

Very similar to what happened in 2017, a song from early in the year (first played on 31st March) took off in a way that made it extremely difficult (and ultimately impossible) for any other song to catch up. In the end it could have gotten zero plays after mid June and still walked away with #1! I had never guessed that Kacey Musgraves would release a song I would love this much, even though I already liked some of her previous stuff. Pretty much everything about this song is top notch, and especially the lyrics sets it apart for a "normal" great song.

    * * *
That concludes the Top 100 songs of 2018, but it's not the end of this thread. I'm also planning to post a chart of my favourite albums from 2018, the year's most played songs released before the year started and the most played artists in 2018!

"Head Above Water" is uplifting and powerful, and "Butterflies" is warm and romantic.

"Happy & Sad" is my favourite song from Golden Hour. I find it deeply relatable. It's an expected #1 here, but a terrific one nonetheless.

    Thanks for commenting, guys!

I kinda like having a YEC #1 that a lot of people here have at least heard (and many like). I don't think that was the case in 2015-2017.

Yeah, I guessed that was you... ????? would win in the category "Newcomer of the year". She's the only artist in the top 25 that I had not heard of when the year started.

    Top 10 Albums of 2018

In 2015 and 2016 I did a Top 25 countdown of my favourite new albums released those years, but in 2018 there aren't even that many new albums that I listened to, so this will just be a top 10. The albums are ranked the same way as in 2016, i.e. according to the total plays (in 2018) of the songs included on the album multiplied by a "breadth factor" that is computed from how the plays are distributed between the tracks (the more even the higher). This is the same system I use for my weekly albums chart; see details here.

Album #10. Jason Aldean – Rearview Town

    Score / Total Song Plays: 294 / 441
    Released: 13th April
    Best Month: April (70%)
    Highest Weekly Song Plays: 201
Peak Position / Weeks on Weekly Chart: 2 / 14
Top Tracks: Gettin' Warmed Up, Rearview Town, You Make It Easy

Album #9. Kimberly Dunn – New Smoke Show

    Score / Total Song Plays: 298 / 304
    Released: 5th January
    Best Month: January (51%)
    Highest Weekly Song Plays: 58
    Peak Position / Weeks on Weekly Chart: 1 (1 week) / 14
Top Tracks: Running out of Road, Courthouse Wedding, Traffic

Album #8. Jessie Chris – In It for You

    Score / Total Song Plays (in 2018): 301 / 612
    Released: 5th January
    Best Month: January (66%)
    Highest Weekly Song Plays: 254
    Peak Position / Weeks on Weekly Chart: 1 (2 weeks) / 12
Top Tracks: Heart to Break Your Heart, When You Call Me Baby, Can't Get Enough

Album #7. CHVRCHES – Love Is Dead

    Score / Total Song Plays: 308 / 395
    Released: 25th May
    Best Month: June (50%)
    Highest Weekly Song Plays: 173
    Peak Position / Weeks on Weekly Chart: 1 (2 weeks) / 15
Top Tracks: Get Out, Really Gone, Forever, Wonderland

Album #6. Meghan Patrick – Country Music Made Me Do It

    Score / Total Song Plays (in 2018): 388 / 610
    Released: 12th January
    Best Month: January (44%)
    Highest Weekly Song Plays: 110
    Peak Position / Weeks on Weekly Chart: 1 (5 weeks) / 14
Top Tracks: Country Music Made Me Do It (2017), The Way You Apologize, Feel Me Gone

Album #5. Leah Daniels – The Story

    Score / Total Song Plays: 1,140 / 2,230
    Released: 25th May
    Best Month: August (22%)
    Highest Weekly Song Plays: 384
    Peak Position / Weeks on Weekly Chart: 1 (6 weeks) / 28
Top Tracks: 1st, One More Round, Flying, Tell Me Right Now

There is a huge gap between #6 and #5, i.e. there are five albums released in 2018 that are far ahead of the rest. With three songs in the top 10, it's no surprise that Leah's album is one of those.

Album #4. Kacey Musgraves – Golden Hour

    Score / Total Song Plays: 1,413 / 2,992
    Released: 30th March
    Best Month: April (27%)
    Highest Weekly Song Plays: 275
    Peak Position / Weeks on Weekly Chart: 1 (9 weeks) / 40
Top Tracks: Happy & Sad, Butterflies, Space Cowboy

Album #3. Beatrice Egli – Wohlfühlgarantie

    Score / Total Song Plays (in 2018): 1,546 / 1,625
    Released: 16th March
    Best Month: March (91%)
    Highest Weekly Song Plays: 831
    Peak Position / Weeks on Weekly Chart: 1 (5 weeks) / 22
Top Tracks: Du gibst meinem Leben einen Sinn, Wohlfühlgarantie, Mein Ein und Alles, Traumpilot

Album #2. Catherine McGrath – Talk of This Town

    Score / Total Song Plays (in 2018): 2,319 / 3,383
    Released: 27th July
    Best Month: August (30%)
    Highest Weekly Song Plays: 496
    Peak Position / Weeks on Weekly Chart: 1 (8 weeks) / 23
Top Tracks: Thought It Was Gonna Be Me (2017), Talk of This Town (2017), Enough for You (+ most of the rest)

Album #1. Joyce Jonathan – On

    Score / Total Song Plays: 3,878 / 4,567
    Released: 5th October
    Best Month: October (63%)
    Highest Weekly Song Plays: 1,248
    Peak Position / Weeks on Weekly Chart: 1 (12 weeks) / 12
Top Tracks: Que veux-tu de moi ?, Une parenthèse, Désaccord, On, Je suis une tortue (+ most of the rest)

We have a very clear winner here this year, with score and total plays quite a bit higher than for the number ones in 2015-2017! I found this album in the middle of October and it is still #1 on my weekly albums chart. In fact, I've already listened enough to it (coupled with a high breadth factor) for it to enter at #8 on my all-time albums chart! (And Catherine's album is at #12 on that same chart, helped also by plays of two of its songs in 2017.)

A lot to catch up with...

I'm not quoting all the songs I like, as that would be too many. So let me go by artists instead...

CHVRCHES: So happy with them having many appearances on your list. They released quite a solid album last year and I'm slowly getting into them. "Get Out" has to be my fave, so glad it's also their highest on your list.

Beatrice Egli: Shouldn't be a surprise that I like her. "Verliebt, verlobt, verflixt nochmal" is definitely one of the best thing she's ever released to me, so I'm happy you're liking it as well!

Vanessa Mai: I know "Schlager" didn't make the same impact on your charts as some of her (or Wolkenfrei's) earlier stuff, but for me it's her best work so far. "Feuer und Eis" is brilliant, so happy with its high position!

Kacey Musgraves: One of the artists who really clicked with me in 2018. "Golden Hour" is a great album and even though I wouldn't rate it as high as many other people around here, it still made quite a big impression on me. A deserved #1 on your list btw, as "Happy & Sad" has become one of my faves from her.

From the artists who didn't appear that often, I enjoy the most:
    #60. Madame Monsieur – Mercy
    #57. Camila Cabello – Something's Gotta Give
#44. Selena Gomez – Back to You
    #34. Amy Shark – I Said Hi
#26. Elina Nechayeva – La forza
    #16. Avril Lavigne – Head Above Water S V
    #8. Amy Shark – Don't Turn Around S A

As you saw, I had "I Said Hi", "Back To You" and "La forza" quite high on my list as well, so I'm obviously very happy with their appearances here! "Something's Gotta Give" is good, better than some of the official singles she's released. Happy for Avril's high spot, though the track didn't click with me as much as it probably should have. Looking forward to the album though, she never disappoints with albums.

#7. CHVRCHES – Love Is Dead
#6. Meghan Patrick – Country Music Made Me Do It
#4. Kacey Musgraves – Golden Hour
    #3. Beatrice Egli – Wohlfühlgarantie

These are the albums I like from the albums countdown. "Country Music Made Me Do It" was a nice one at the beginning of 2018, but it faded away for me the more albums came out afterwards.

    Yay Kitten.
I'm not keen on that Plumb song but the album of the same name is great.
Catherine McGrath album is good but i prefer the Megan McKenna album she helped on.

Top 25 Older Songs in 2018

37.6 percent of all my plays in 2018 were of songs released during the year (the lowest such figure since 2012), leaving just above 40,000 plays for older songs. Of course, those plays are distributed among a much larger number of songs; 8,615 such songs got at least one full play during the year. But there are some songs released before 2018 that did much better than average, particulary songs I heard for the first time in 2018, songs from late 2017 and the biggest songs from 2017. Here is the top 25 of those songs:

    Older song #25. Emmelie de Forest – Only Teardrops (2013) S V

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 55 / 928
Best Month in 2018: May (62%)
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: (didn't chart, too old)
    YEC Position in 2013: 2

    Older song #24. Emmelie de Forest – Change (2013) S A

    (Album cover)

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 55 / 999
Best Month in 2018: May (58%)
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: (didn't chart, too old)
    YEC Position in 2013: 4

Older song #23. Maggie Reilly – So Much More (1993) A

    (Album cover)

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 84 / 826
Best Month in 2018: May (30%)
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: (didn't chart, much too old)
YEC Position in 1993: (didn't chart, not yet discovered)

This is my most played song from the 1990's (helped by the fact that I didn't discover it until autumn 1999, so it was still quite "fresh" when I started measuring plays a few months later) and for unknown reasons it did better in 2018 than in an average year.

    Older song #22. Beatrice Egli – Keiner küsst mich (2017) S A

    (Album cover)

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 97 / 227
Best Month in 2018: March (69%)
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: 15
    YEC Position in 2017: 71

    Older song #21. Scavenger Hunt – Ghosts (2017) S A

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 101 / 141
Best Month in 2018: February (47%)
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: 6
    YEC Position in 2017: 138

Older song #20. Meghan Patrick – Country Music Made Me Do It (2017) S V

    (Album cover)

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 104 / 539
Best Month in 2018: February (47%)
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: 10
    YEC Position in 2017: 13

    Older song #19. Simone – Heart Shaped Hole (2016) S A

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 114 / 2,377
Best Month in 2018: February (25%)
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: (didn't chart, a little bit too old)
    YEC Position in 2016: 1

The 2016 YEC #1 didn't do amazing in 2018, but it is the only song from the 2016 YEC appearing in this top 25.

    Older song #18. Mylène Farmer – Désenchantée (1991) S V

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 118 / 250
Best Month in 2018: November (51%)
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: (didn't chart, far too old)
YEC Position in 1991: (didn't chart, the YEC did not exist yet)

I actually discovered this in 1991 (despite that it wasn't a hit here in Sweden), and listened to it quite a bit that year (alas, this was long before I was able to count plays, so those are not included in the stats). It got new life this year due to the boom for songs in French.

    Older song #17. Alphaville – Forever Young (1984) S V

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 123 / 413
Best Month in 2018: February (27%)
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: (didn't chart, way too old)
YEC Position in 1984: (didn't chart, the YEC did not exist yet)

This classic gets a lot of plays from time to time, especially since 2013 because there is something about it that reminds me of the song at #6. (Or is it the other way around? Either way, the song has benefitted from this.)

    Older song #16. Echosmith – Get Into My Car (2017) S V

    (EP cover)

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 125 / 711
Best Month in 2018: February (38%)
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: 11
    YEC Position in 2017: 10

    Older song #15. RaeLynn – The Apple (2017) S A

    (Album cover)

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 130 / 501
Best Month in 2018: February (40%)
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: 8
    YEC Position in 2017: 18

    Older song #14. Emmelie de Forest – Sanctuary (2017) S V

    Older song #13. Joyce Jonathan – L'heure avait sonné (2010) S V

    (Album cover)

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 182 / 182
Best Month in 2018: October (81%)
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: (didn't chart, too old)
YEC Position in 2010: (didn't chart, not yet discovered)

    Older song #12. Joyce Jonathan – Bien trop simple (2010) S A

    (Album cover)

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 204 / 204
Best Month in 2018: October (75%)
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: (didn't chart, too old)
YEC Position in 2010: (didn't chart, not yet discovered)

    Older song #11. Jenny – Alles klar (2017) S A

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 227 / 623
Best Month in 2018: August (44%)
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: 2
    YEC Position in 2017: 15

Older song #10. Annemarie Eilfeld – Dein Herz ist eine Geisterstadt (2016) S V

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 261 / 280
Best Month in 2018: July (24%)
Highest Weekly Plays in 2018: 23
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: (didn't chart, too old)
YEC Position in 2016: (didn't chart, not yet discovered)

    Older song #9. Alma – Après l'aurore (2017) S A

    (Album cover)

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 273 / 1,203
Best Month in 2018: February (23%)
Highest Weekly Plays in 2018: 25
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: 5
    YEC Position in 2017: 4

Older song #8. Catherine McGrath – Talk of This Town (2017) S V

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 298 / 931
Best Month in 2018: February (16%)
Highest Weekly Plays in 2018: 19
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: 9
    YEC Position in 2017: 8

    Older song #7. Joyce Jonathan – Sans patience (2013) S A

    (Album cover)

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 344 / 344
Best Month in 2018: October (79%)
Highest Weekly Plays in 2018: 136
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: (didn't chart, too old)
YEC Position in 2013: (didn't chart, not yet discovered)

My clear favourite out of the older Joyce Jonathan songs that I heard for the first time this year.

    Older song #6. Emmelie de Forest – Haunted Heart (2013) S A

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 550 / 9,517
Best Month in 2018: October (29%)
Highest Weekly Plays in 2018: 95
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: (didn't chart, too old)
    YEC Position in 2013: 1

2018 was the 6th calendar year this song was available, and it still doesn't really feel like an "old" song, even though it now dropped to just over half as many plays as it got in 2016 and 2017. It needs to stay at almost the same level in 2019 to reach 10,000 plays on the Decade chart. (Maybe I should "cheat" and make sure it gets to exactly 10,000 total plays?)

    Older song #5. Kate Todd – You're Gonna Find Out (2017) S V

    (EP cover)

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 599 / 1,663
Best Month in 2018: August (22%)
Highest Weekly Plays in 2018: 50
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: 2
    YEC Position in 2017: 3

    Older song #4. Maia – Du' kærlighed for mig (2017) S A

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 681 / 3,182
Best Month in 2018: February (34%)
Highest Weekly Plays in 2018: 93
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: 1 (1 week)
    YEC Position in 2017: 1

The 2017 YEC #1 did pretty well in 2018 as well, although compared to its success last year 681 plays isn't spectacular.

    Older song #3. Alyssa Micaela – Clean Break (2017) S A

    (EP cover)

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 734 / 2,004
Best Month in 2018: January (17%)
Highest Weekly Plays in 2018: 79
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: 3
    YEC Position in 2017: 2

    Older song #2. Tone Damli – Strangers (2017) S A

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 979 / 979
Best Month in 2018: July (32%)
Highest Weekly Plays in 2018: 162
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: 1 (8 weeks)
YEC Position in 2017: (didn't chart, not yet discovered)

This song by Norwegian singer Tone Damli would have been #2 on the YEC if only it had been included on an EP or album released in 2018.

Older song #1. Catherine McGrath – Thought It Was Gonna Be Me (2017) S V

    Plays in 2018 / Total Plays: 992 / 1,797
Best Month in 2018: February (17%)
Highest Weekly Plays in 2018: 67
Peak Position on Weekly Chart in 2018: 2
    YEC Position in 2017: 5

The 2017 YEC #5, which was released in late November that year, turned out to be the song from 2017 that did the best in 2018, although it lands on the wrong side of 1,000 plays, making 2018 the weakest year since 2013 in terms of the highest play count for an older song.

Golden Hour is a lovely album. Not surprised that it ended up in your top 5.

Among your older songs, my fave is "Only Teardrops", one of the finest ESC entries ever!
You have the luxury of choosing loneliness. For some people, it’s not an option.

Agreed, the album is great, should probably be at #3 if I ranked the albums subjectively instead of by (adjusted) plays, although this may vary from day to day.

I'm glad you like it, but what do you mean "one of"? Some scientific facts: Water is a liquid at room temperature, the sky is blue and "Only Teardrops" is the greatest ESC entry ever (probably including 2019–20?? too).

Interesting list for the older songs - thanks for sharing them!
There are a lot of songs I like or even love, the ones by Emmelie are clearly my favorite ones. Especially happy to see "Only Teardrops". I think I actually never asked you about your favorite songs from the record (apart from the obvious "Haunted Heart")... so I wonder what you think of "Let It Fall"? That's my most favorite song of Emmelie and also belongs to my all time faves these days.

Also nice to see Vanessa Mai being in the Top10 of your Artists Charts!

    ^ Thanks for commenting, Tansike!

Yeah, I posted the chart with the most played older songs in 2015 and 2016 so I thought I would do the same for 2018.

I remember you said before that "Let It Fall" is your favourite, but I don't remember if I answered how I would rank the songs on the album. Not much has changed since 2013 in this regard, so let's look at the positions on the 2013 YEC, where all of the songs were in the top 33: Haunted Heart #1, Only Teardrops #2, Change #4, Force of Nature #12, What Are You Waiting For #14, Let It Fall #17, Beat the Speed of Sound #28, Soldier of Love #29, Running in My Sleep #32, Hunter & Prey #33. Since then "Change" has passed "Only Teardrops" in total plays, mostly because it did noticably better in 2014. But I can't say for sure I like that song more now; those two remain very close. The next three are also close, with almost equal number of plays for FoN and WAYWF and "Let It Fall" not too far behind. The remaining four songs are also close to each other, but pretty far behind the rest.

    ^ Thanks for replying!
Ah, so Emmelie picked one of the worst possible choices for the second single for you, I guess...
Glad to see "Let It Fall" isn't among your least favorite ones! Very interesting order for the 2013 chart; I guess I forgot that "Only Teardrops" was that big for you, as I thought it wasn't an obvious standout of the album for you. I really need to revisit the album, it's such a strong piece of work and it's sad how she never really put out a proper follow-up to that :(

^ Does that mean you didn't read my reply to Akini above? ;)

Yes, I think I even commented in my "diary" how "Hunter & Prey" was the worst single choice for me. At least she picked the best picture from the album booklet as the cover picture for it... And I still like that song too; if I would rank all albums I own according to the worst song on them, Emmelie's album would still be at least in the top 5, the same as in the normal ranking.

    Love your passion!

For me, "Rise Like a Phoenix" and "Goodbye to Yesterday" are better, but top 3 isn't bad!
