Been listening to this one today. God they must have been so excited when they finished recording this and had it altogether because every track is such an anthem, there's no filler at all, it's like 150% effort has gone into every single track. Picking the singles must have been such a headache...which is I guess why they chose 9

Bad and Man In The Mirror massive standouts, not just on this album but through his career.

I think the track Bad is one of his worst songs. I always thought it felt like a parody of his other songs...

I love this album though. Way You Make Me Feel, Smooth Criminal, Man in the Mirror & Leave Me Alone are my favourites!

The title track verges on self-parody, but as a music video, I think it's second only to "Thriller" for him... that is, the uncut 20 minute version.

Thriller was untoppable and I think everyone knew that, but I think Bad's as good as a followup to such an album can get. The only downfall to the album is that barring Man In The Mirror, it seems to lack the heart and soul his other albums have, he was chasing another 60 million copies sold first and foremost, and it's a good pop album, but it's also probably the only one of his solo albums that truly dates its era.

Brilliant album- shame it's not charting as high at the moment. But then most of the songs are on other comps!

I love The Way You Make Me Feel
I Just Can't Stop Loving You
    Smooth Criminal

    in particular.

I absolutely adore this album, there's not even one song on it that I'd consider weak. I've always loved "Bad" and "Dirty Diana" in particular and found "Leave Me Alone" incredibly underrated.

Wow I think "Bad" is one of his best songs, though when I see one of his best, that means somewhere in the top 20 I think it's so catchy and well produced. I have to admit I've done it at karaoke before and before anyone says it, yes I did sing it bad

Well I agree with everything NothingFails said, even the songs ranking

I liked Bad (the song) when I was 10, but honestly it's one of the most puerile thing he ever recorded, Smooth Criminal is a bit silly too but the music kicks too much ass to ignore.

it's interesting that Bad was the one intended to be a duet with Prince. That song was so beneath both of them in 1987 (since 1987 is generally where a lot of Prince fans consider his true apex with Sign O' The Times) that it would've been embarrassing for both of them if this was the best thing a collaboration between them would've turned out.

But like Spidey said, I loved the song when I was eight years old but while I still enjoy the rest of the album today, the only real enjoyment I get out of "Bad" the song is the nostalgia of it. The full-length video is very underrated and played a big part in getting me excited for the album when it came out. I'd loved Thriller like every other 80's kid but admittedly by 87 I was more excited about Madonna and Whitney (rofl, I'm speaking of myself as an 8 year old like I was 25) but then the Bad video world premiered and the next year and change belonged to MJ and George Michael IMO.

I prefer this to Thriller, I think there are only three fillers on it, Liberian Girl and the two non-singles.
I think the Uk version does not include Leave Me Alone (hence the reason why it made #2 as late as early 1989, after 7 singles from the album charted).
    Let's have a second referendum

Leave Me Alone was a CD-only track in the US, both the vinyl and cassette editions ended with Smooth Criminal. I'm surprised they never released LMA as an official single in the US considering it likely would've benefited as well in the US as millions of vinyl and cassette owners didn't know the song until the video came out and it would've been like a "new" MJ track for them.

Bad is my favorite MJ album, completely solid from start to finish. So many great songs, it defines MJ for me.

Pepsi is also prepping a 25th-anniversary campaign in mid-May for the rerelease of Michael Jackson's "Bad" that will include a series of remixes from superstar DJs like Skrillex, Diplo and A-Trak. The exclusive tracks are set to be accessed through a special Pepsi-can promotion where fans can scan a code with their phone to hear a song. (Cooper called the strategy SoLoMo or Social/Local/Mobile.)

It's Thriller ... but modernized for that time. Actually, almost every Michael Jackson album is a modernized one of the previous.

Anywho, it's brilliant and the softer songs stand out, in my opinion. "Man In The Mirror" has a great message that I wish music today could push through. Umm, "Bad" is somewhat bad compared to other uptempo ones like "The Way You Make Me Feel". Also, "Speed Demon" could have been a hit single, which honestly I don't know why it wasn't.

What else is there to say?

This album is a great follow up to Thriller.
Lots of gems in it. That said.... The 2nd half of the album >>> the 1st half

Amazing record. The outtake Streetwalker, which Michael wanted on the album but was replaced by Another Part of Me, is a highlight which should've been on original copies of the album. The only subpar track is Just Good Friends which is underwhelming considering two legends are performing on it. Anyway, Bad is my second favourite MJ record behind Dangerous.

This is album is a masterpiece, full of hits. Dangerous has always been my favourite, but meanwhile Bad is directly behind it.

Bad 25 had some great additions too <3
