How does the top 5 of the Year-End Billboard 200 Albums Chart (which normally measures from December to November and, I think, excludes streaming before the album was released) look so far and are there any albums to be released that are likely to make the top 5? I'm curious if Taylor Swift's seventh studio album will continue her streak of all her studio albums having made the top 5. No other act has achieved that with more than five albums since the chart was started in 1956.

It looks likely that Lover will finish in the top 5 of Billboard's year-end, but I don't think it's a guarantee yet. If you factor in this week's SPS from HITS numbers onto old bloke's week 44 numbers on the previous page, there are 7 weeks left in the Billboard year. Below is how much Lover would need to exceed each album's SPS per week for the next 7 weeks to pass:

    Billie - 73,000 (won't pass)
    Ariana - 58,000 (won't pass)
A Star is Born - 42,000 (might pass)
Beerbongs and Bentleys - 22,000 (might pass)
Meek Mill - 19,000 (will pass)
    Scorpion - 13,000 (will pass)
Travis Scott - 9,000 (will pass)
    Bohemian Rhapsody - already passed

The only wildcard here is Adele, who could release in the last week or two of the Billboard year and have some huge weeks. But even if Adele releases and does outperform Lover, Lover may pass Beerbongs and Bentley's in the last week or two and secure top 5.

On another note, Lover is pretty much guaranteed to be #4 or #5 on the year-end SPS chart (which works on the calendar year and includes pre-release SPS), even if Adele releases and surpasses Lover.

The Billboard 200 Year-End totals are around so far:
    Billie: 1.702 million
    Ariana: 1.616 million
    Taylor: 1.149 million
    Post: 489,000

There's 8 weeks left I believe. I think the remaining runs/totals will be around

    Billie:
    35k
    35k
    33k
    33k
    30k
    30k
    28k
    28k
    = 1.954 million

    Ariana:
    15k
    15k
    14k
    13k
    13k
    13k
    13k
    12k
    = 1.724 million

    Taylor:
    80k
    70k
    65k
    60k
    60k
    55k
    55k
    50k
    = 1.644 million

    Post:
    195k
    150k
    125k
    115k
    105k
    95k
    90k
    85k
    = 1.449 million

A Star is Born will finish past 1.5m, and Hollywood's Bleeding might actually finish behind Beerbongs. Beerbongs is at 1.356m~ and will likely finish past 1.5 million.

    Sooo:
    1. When We Fall Asleep
    2. Thank U, Next
    3. Lover
    4. A Star is Born
    5. Beerbongs
    6. Hollywood's Bleeding
    7. Championships (this will be close to Hollywood too, as its around 1.34 million and will finish around 1.42m~).

01 - 1,396,000 - OLD TOWN ROAD - Lil Nas X feat. Billy Ray Cyrus (1,396,000), and now has 862.8 MM ODS.

Okay, so OTR got 15 k more downloads last week. That's a little better than I expected (10-12 k was my window). I'll go with 1.6 MM downloads by the end of 2019, and 1.5 MM by the end of the 2019 Ch yr.

For ODS, OTR got 12.2 MM last week. I doubt OTR will reach 1 B ODR before 2020, but it'll probably finish with 950+ MM ODS streams for 2019 cal Yr, and close to, if not a little over, 900 MM by the end of the 2019 ch yr.

ME: I think Lover could overtake Billie and Grande for the 2019 Calendar Year though. Swift should get the bigger boost this Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years season by having the newest album. Adele will wait to release until the first week of the 2020 chart year, so she'll get the 2019 Cal Yr #1 and most likely the 2020 Ch Yr. If album sales are even more anemic in 2020, Adele could once again have the top selling album for the 2020 Cal Yr too, as she did in 2016 even while 25 sold almost 6 MM less in 2016 than 2015.

It's a possibility, just depends on how well Lover holds up. If you include the chart week that just came out (week 37), Billie's album is at 1,905,000 and Lover is at 1,490,000 which gives Billie a lead of 415,000. With 15 weeks left, Lover needs to outsell Billie on average 26,667 per week for the rest of the year. Billie's album is still very strong and could be for the rest of the year, though, so I'm not sure it will happen. Either way Lover will almost certainly not be #1 SPS for the year thanks to "Sunflower"s SPS being added to Post Malone's album (and possibly Adele as well).

By this time next week, Post Malone's Hollywood's Bleeding (Republic) will be crowned the biggest album of 2019 in total activity YTD. Propelled by two of the biggest singles of the year in "Wow." and Sunflower," Malone’s third LP—which is also, not coincidentally, the year’s streaming champ—should hit 2 million units in total activity within the next few days.

Bleeding's 2m YTD will surpass Billie Eilish's WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? (Darkroom/Interscope), which will be in the 1.98m range.

Along with a giant opening week, Malone's traction has been fueled by enormous stream counts, which will power Hollywood’s Bleeding to 120k units in its fourth week of activity. By comparison, Eilish’s album moved 88k in week four, while Ariana Grande's thank u, next moved 86k and Taylor Swift's Lover notched 79k.

While Swift's total after her first four weeks of album activity—a projected 1.22m—is greater than Malone's 950k, Post's pre-release singles "Wow." and "Sunflower" provided him with more than 1m in YTD activity, thanks to heavy consumption dating back to the beginning of the year.

What's more, Hollywood's Bleeding shows no sign of slowing down, following the long-tail patterns of its two predecessors. His 2016 debut album Stoney and and 2018’s beerbongs and bentleys are still in the Top 30 after 146 and 74 weeks, respectively.

Is the Taylor Swift/Adele streak (2009-2018) on the female Billboard 200 year-end chart coming to an end this year? Is Taylor Swift strong enough to pull this one off or can Adele still release an album to keep it going for 2019?
