Adele splits from husband Simon Konecki

Adele has separated from her husband Simon Konecki, representatives for the singer have confirmed.

In a statement on Friday, they said the pair were "committed to raising their son together lovingly".

Adele gave birth to her son, Angelo, in 2012. She married Konecki - an investment banker turned charity boss - in 2016 after five years of dating.

    The best-selling London-born artist is known for her chart-topping albums 19, 21 and 25.

The statement added that the pair were asking for privacy and there would be no further comment.

They married in secret and Adele first addressed the wedding publicly during an acceptance speech at the 2017 Grammys, where she thanked her "husband".

The singer's debut album, which was released in 2008 and featured hits including Chasing Pavements and Hometown Glory, reached number one in the UK.

She went on to win a string of awards and her follow-up, 21, topped the charts in 30 countries including the US and the UK.

Her third album, 25, sold a record-breaking 800,000 copies in its first week and became the best-selling album of 2015.

In March, Adele, 30, was pictured entering a recording studio in New York City, prompting speculation that she was working on new music.

Konecki, 45, left his job at Lehman Brothers in 2005, and founded the ethical water company Life Water. The company and its charity partner Drop 4 Drop "fund clear water projects across the globe".

"I was originally an investment banker at Lehman Brothers and I was doing well and earning a lot of money, but I got sick of that greedy and corrupted world," he told Management Today in 2012.

She'll be splitting some of that £100m fortune...

Can't wait for some good heartbreak ballads on her next album.

And I thought that they were to last... After all, they didn't seem like this 'Hollywood glam couple', there was something authentic about them. But the way they kept their relationship a private issue, they probably kept their problems a private issue. It's just a sad thing for their son, whose parents are no longer togeher. But yeah, maybe it'll have some positive influence on her next album.

Let's be honest here. She could do much better than him.

What a horrible and shallow comment to make.

They have been together for so long. It must feel horrible to break up after such a long time, especially when there's a young kid involved.
I wish them all the best, though!

I read somewhere that he apparently once said Adele shouldn't be working and should be staying at home to care for their child.

    Did he really say that?

I read that in the Adele thread earlier and if it’s true I’m surprised it’s taken this long. How can you marry a superstar and think the biggest selling female of the last decade should be staying at home? It’s madness.

Overall it’s sad when a family breaks up - even the most toxic that should end always start out with love and/or the best of intentions.

If her first album was her practise run, her second her breakup album and her third her mummy album, I guess the next will be the divorce album.

She was the one who actually said what he had said, it's on a video at one of her US concerts.

He said it when the 1st 25 album was scrapped and she didn't know what to do, even come back.

He's been married before and think there's a child to his 1st marriage.

She doesn't mince her words, and even called Sony executives a bunch of thieving Bas----s because they re-released 19 without telling her it was going to happen.
She thinks it's ripping of fans.

I love Adele's open attitude. She just lays it down.

A lot of female artists release their best music after bad breakups and divorce so I think we can expect something good on that side at least.

This is heartbreaking. I hope she is OK. (and he as well).

I think in all of the entertainment world, there are only 2 couples which will last: Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson (married since 1988), and Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russel (together since 1983)...

Thinking about it... Tina Turner & Erwin Bach are also going to last (1986-2012, married since 2013).

Shame their relationship didn't work out, though the fans will likely be the benefactors of her heartbreak.
Do we settle for the world as it is, or do we work for the world as it should be?
