Thank you to everybody who took part in this year's Feedback Survey - over 120 responses were received for both parts combined! This thread will contain part of the results where no real further discussion or feedback is needed, however, feel free to post any thoughts in here relating to these questions.

Wayne has informed the team that the medium-term plan for UKMIX is to explore additional designs over the next 6-12 months, where users may be able to choose an alternative to the traditional orange and blue design.

Rest assured, all of your comments have been taken on board! The moderators and admins have been discussing them at length and feel generally really happy with members' satisfaction of how UKMIX is run and the posting experience. Obviously there will always be niggles and differences in opinion, however, some of the issues raised above will be addressed in other parts of the feedback - if you still feel a query you raised in this survey hasn't been addressed or resolved, do message one of the UKMIX team.

PART TWO

What do you like most about the new forums?

Lots of you loved the fact that not a lot has changed from the old forums and have appreciated the upgrade. Here are some of the other thoughts given!



Is there anything you miss from the old UKMIX?

Encouragingly, over half of you said there was nothing you missed from the old UKMIX! Here are some thoughts given from those who do:



From this feedback, the following implementations are to be made:

• More emoticons/emojis are to be introduced to the forums. Do note - these will need to be selected from the current "Smiley" box or typed in as code when selected. You won't be able to post Apple emojis directly from your device.
• The need to reply to a message with a minimum of three characters has been removed, meaning Survivor votes can now be quoted without the need for additional text. Please do not abuse the quoting function elsewhere and it is still encouraged to not quote large blocks of texts, large images, or videos.
• Striking-out text is now available by pressing the s icon within the reply tools, or typing [ STRIKE ] [ /STRIKE ] (without spaces).
• Currently, the mobile version of UKMIX cannot be modified. Wayne has tried hard to look at alternatives, based on the feedback, but it is built to be deliberately low maintenance due to being used on a mobile device. Looking ahead, as a new forum design is worked on, it may be possible to build modifications into this. Remember, you can change the view from the mobile style by scrolling to the bottom of the forums and choosing "Full Site". To change back, use the drop-down menu at the bottom of the forums.
• The inability to post a reply in purely capital letters (e.g. RIP) has been amended, meaning all-capital replies is now possible, however, please refrain from posting long sentences in capitals or it may come across as shouting.
• Spotify-embedding will be introduced soon across all forums!

Would you prefer a user reputation system or a “like post” button?

Two thirds of respondents to this question would prefer a like button. We feel the current reputation system is working well and has not been abused, therefore the reputation system will remain in place. However, we are looking to introduce a "like post" feature alongside this! More details over the coming weeks.

Do you feel the new UKMIX is easy to navigate?

Almost three quarters of respondents answered that the UKMIX is easy to navigate. Some comments were made about the search function being difficult, so please post in the Helpdesk thread if you are still struggling with that.

Do you feel GIFs should be open to use across the whole site?

Over half of you either want wider GIF usage or are indifferent to it. Therefore, the decision has been made to extend the use of GIFs outside of the existing thread to the following forums only:

• Music genres OR Singles/Albums/Tours (depending on which option is chosen)
• The Vault (previously The Retro)
• The Lounge
• General Artists Discussion

GIFs should not be posted outside of these forums and there is a strict limit of one GIF per post. Excessive use or not adhering to these new rules may result in infractions being issued or the policy being reversed altogether after a review later in the year.

How would you feel about merging the TV and movie forums into one Entertainment forum?

Due to over three quarters of respondents being in favour or neutral, this will go ahead as part of the forum restructure in the coming weeks.

Due to over half of respondents being in favour or neutral, and low activity across both forums, this will go ahead as part of the forum restructure in the coming weeks.

Do you have any suggestions for a new name for The Retro forum?

Thank you for your abundance of suggestions, some of them made us laugh and cry It was our very own [MENTION=25609]biscuits[/MENTION] who came up with our new name for The Retro in the end - look out for The Vault and brand new decade sub-forums coming soon!

Do you feel that The Lounge should be Private Members only access with relaxed rules, or should the Private Members Forum remain as it is with The Lounge remaining open to all?

That button is still there for Premium Users - you just have to edit the post and select "Delete Message" - the reason it isn't implemented for the wider site is that it then empowers users to remove any message they've made (which you weren't able to do at the old UKMIX - at the old UKMIX, you could only delete your post if nobody had made a post since you made the last post in a topic).

You can if you change the site layout at the bottom of the page from mobile layout to full site. Then once you’d voted in the poll you’d just have to change it back to mobile layout.
