I hope Cardi isn't in this too much. I've seen her doing promo, and with what she has done to her face, I feel like it would be distracting. #SheTooPlastic
She's not. She's basically on cameo level

STXfilms’ Hustlers, as anticipated, is off to a fantastic start for the weekend with $2.5M. That’s a figure that’s higher than Universal’s Girls Trip ($1.7M), STX’s Bad Moms ($2M) and Paramount’s Rocketman ($2.3M).

The Jennifer Lopez-Constance Wu-Lili Reinhart pic, which was made for $20.7M before P&A, is expected to make at least $20M this weekend, with tracking and others betting Hustlers’ dance ends between $25M-$30M. The project was passed over by Annapurna roughly a year ago with STX taking a shot at the feature adaptation of the New York Magazine article “The Hustlers at Scores” by Jessica Pressler with Lorene Scafaria writing and directing. Hustlers plays in 3,250 theaters today. Anything over $23.1M this weekend for Hustlers reps a live-action opening record for Lopez, besting her 2005 high Monster in Law, and anything over $23.8M is a record opening for STX, which is greatly in need of a hit after the UglyDolls debacle. Hustlers is produced by Jessica Elbaum, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Jennifer Lopez, Benny Medina, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay.

It, Part 2 is estimated at $36m for weekend.

Anything is still possible. Hustlers has huge promo tonight as ABC will show a small documentary about people the movie is based on in their 20/20 show. 2.5M on Thursday is an amazing result and even if it ends up at number 2, it will still have huge numbers and it will achieve success that nobody expected.

Btw, here's amazing article by Financial Time I really liked.

In the shorter term, the industry is looking to films such as Hustlers for guidance on the future. While it has generated buzz in Toronto, it also shares characteristics with many of the films that have recently faltered in cinemas: character-driven dramas with some star power but no superheroes.

“It’s very important that a movie like Hustlers does well,” said Mr Dergarabedian.

    I can’t believe I’m rooting for a J.Lo movie to do well.

I can’t stand the It series tho.

It seems that queen Fiona Apple is a low key J. Lo stan

The scene in question features Lopez alternately bumping and grinding on the floor and working the pole against a backdrop of dollar bills and Apple’s classic “Criminal.” Says music supervisor Jason Markey, “I was very scared because Fiona notoriously says no to everything.” (“Criminal,” a major hit in 1997, has only been licensed for TV a half-dozen times in 22 years, and never for a feature film.) But apparently the singer-songwriter couldn’t say no to J.Lo’s 50-year-old bootie. “We sent her the clip and she approved it, so I would assume she just liked what she saw,” Markey says of Apple. “Maybe she’s not a fan of Jennifer, but when you watch watch her dance, it’s undeniable. It’s dramatic gold.”

‘Hustlers’ Box Office: Jennifer Lopez And Constance Wu Break Records With Huge $33 Million Weekend

Lorene Scararia’s critically acclaimed and buzzy dramedy, about New York strippers who turned to theft and cons when the 2008 recession blew a hole in their business, opened this weekend with $33.2 million. That’s the biggest opening weekend ever for a live-action Jennifer Lopez movie, even adjusted for inflation. That’s the biggest ever opening weekend for STX Entertainment, well above the $20 million debut of The Upside and the $23.6 million launch of Bad Moms.

I haven't seen a trailer yet (I don't generally watch them anyway), but color me intrigued. This should be an entertaining film

The trailer is really missleading and I wouldn't describe the movie as entertaining although it has some good comedy elements included. It's really complex and disturbing at times as well.
