Coldplay is about to release a new album next month.
Apparently, they want to recreate the "Ghost Stories" and "A Head Full Of Dreams" success by releasing a more experimental album first and coming up with a more mainstream one the following year.

According to this article, they won't be touring before the drop of more mainstream album 2020.

A song titled "Conscious Pilot" has already been registered.

So they’ll be releasing a more experimental album next month? Sounds amazing!

Ghost Stories is my favorite Coldplay album so far.
feel free to listen to my ep "myosotis" . hope you enjoy

They're calling Ghost Stories experimental? Looord...

They seem so out of touch what's experimental these days.

I'm not a Coldplay fan by any means BUT Sky Full Of Stars was divine! I also enjoyed Hymn For The Weekend and Everglow.

Clearly they meant experimental for themselves not overall. Ghost Stories was a big departure from their signature sound (minus Sky full of Stars, which was basic Coldplay to secure a hit). So in that respect that was a pretty experimental album. They didn't go for the stadium bangers but for these beautiful and fragile songs like 'Magic' or Always on my mind... Head full of dreams was a return to old Coldplay then... so I guess we are up to one album made for the stage and the stadiums and one which is more for a glass of wine and being chill on your couch...

Please, both of those album were trend chasing in sound. By that account nearly every popular/mainstream artist is experimental.

It'd be experimental if they would release something as good as the first 2 albums instead of the progressively worse uninspired sh*t they put out now.

I'm ready, but also a little scared. Chris has been making some very questionable choices lately.

Let's hope the other guys won't let him put out an album filled with lame DJ and basic pop girl collabos.

I don’t agree that Ghost Stories is a trend chasing album. Head Full of Stars yes, but not GS.

If only they record another Midnight, I am with them. Please nothing mainstreamed as their last album.

I don't agree. For me Ghost Stories was a big twist in their discography.

some people saying last few Coldplay albums are too mainstream. I'm agree on AHFOD, but not agree on Ghost Stories (2014).
Except A Sky Full of Stars, Ghost Stories is different from other Coldplay's album. Based on Chris Martin's feeling, atmospheric.

Especially O (Fly On), Midnight, Always in my Head are one of best songs written by Coldplay.
