First Man was boring as F. No wonder it tanked at box office and the movie wasn't nominated in major categories on GG.

A strong attempt at humanising Jeffrey in his pre-killing spree days. Ross Lynch is outstanding.

Movies I saw in the last months:

    Bohemian Rhapsody 8/10
    A Star Is Born 8/10
Mad Max: Furry Road (rewatch) 9/10
Hereditary or whatever 4/10 extremely overrated and an utter bore
    The Favourite 8.5/10
    Halloween (2018) 6/10 nothing new
    Venom 7.5/10
    Your Name (rewatch) 9/10

    Black Swan (2010)

Natalie Portman is great but I feel like her performance and the music elevate what is fairly mediocre material. Black Swan starts out alright but I had lost interest before the end, much of the dialogue felt like quick exchanges just to move the plot forward. I was expecting something with a bit more substance...to be fair though I have no interest in ballet so anyone who does will likely enjoy it more. 5/10

    Stand by Me (1986)

I'm sure a lot of us can relate to Stand By Me in someway, I've always thought it was a good film but not as great as some people make out. One bit I don't like is when it goes back in time and shows Gordie and his older brother at the dinner table, this scene kinda felt emotionally manipulative and unrealistic. Also how is it possible to get so many leeches on you in the water with all your clothes on. Good performances, particularly Corey Feldman. 6.5/10

The Jewel of the Nile (1985)

When I rewatched Romancing the Stone a few years ago I found it to be pretty average overall but it was at least a good film for the first 45 minutes or so, I could barely remember this sequel and now I know why. The first 15 minutes are alright but after that it's just one long boring slog to the end with just a couple of funny moments to break the tedium, even the action is crap. I know these movies get compared to Indiana Jones but this completely rips it off... 3/10

"Searching is a 2018 American thriller film directed by Aneesh Chaganty in his feature debut and written by Chaganty and Sev Ohanian. Set almost entirely on smartphones and computer screens, the film follows a father (John Cho) trying to find his missing 16-year-old daughter (Michelle La) with the help of a police detective (Debra Messing). It is the first mainstream Hollywood thriller headlined by an Asian-American actor."

Excellent movie with an innovative concept and some great twists. Should have been a bigger hit.

    Just watched Mary Poppins.

Emily Blunt did a great job. She was never going to be able to top JulieAndrews, however she made it her own in the movie.

    9/10.

They could of chosen a better Jack though.

A Star Is Born - Fantastic movie.

Boy Erased - Beautiful movie about gay conversion therapy. It's so sad that they still exist in 21st century.

The Favourite: really not sure what to make of it, I think I enjoyed it! Olivia Coleman was amazing but I wanted it to be funnier and the ending was abrupt.

My thoughts exactly. The tone was just so jarring, but that was intentional. Great performances by all ladies - I feel as if Weisz and Stone are kinda cancelling each other out in all the awards because they were both so good - so I can see why the Supporting Actress wins are going to Regina King more than others.

I watched it last week and absolutely loved it, especially thanks to Olivia Coleman who was fantastic!

Can You Ever Forgive Me? - It was a good movie, Melissa McCarthy was great. She proves that she can do drama movies as well. Well deserved Oscar nomination.

    Everest (2015)

This movie takes a long time to get to the actual disaster but there is still a lack of character development. Good performances from Jason Clarke and Josh Brolin and there are a couple of sad moments if you don't know the true story. Everest is worth seeing but nothing special, I'd rather watch a documentary about the events. 6/10

    Haunting Sarah (2005)

This one was made for tv and it showed. The Sarah of the title is played by a young actress and her acting is terrible, a big problem considering the film centres around her. In general it was mostly boring and predictable. 3/10

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997)

Well it's funny, funny enough but not great. 6/10

Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999)

I definitely prefer this sequel, Heather Graham is funnier than Liz Hurley's character who was a more serious type. In general I thought it had more proper lol moments, the shit drinking is a highlight. 7/10

Green Street - such a fantastic film, definitely the best I’ve seen of the year so far. Two engaging leads, strong supporting characters, an interesting plot, humour aplenty and emotion.
