Kate Bush in a long career had 6 hits in the UK Top 10 and peaked at:

    1. Wuthering Heights (1978)
    3. Running Up That Hill (1985)
    5. Babooshka (1980)
    6. Man With The Child In His Eyes (1978)
    9. Don't Give Up (1986)
    10. Live On Stage (1979)

She was last time in Top 10 19 years ago with "Don't Give Up" (duet with Peter Gabriel from his album "So"). Last solo hit "Running Up That Hill" she had 20 years ago.

That curious after 1986 she was three times in Top 20 and always peaked at 12:

    The Sensual World (1989)
    Rocket Man (1991)
    Rubberband Girl (1993)

Her latest single was charted in 1994. "And So Is Love" peaked at 26.

As it will be newest "King Of The Mountain" highly? We'll be sure to closest sunday already!

I love KATE BUSH's musical universe, strange and poetic. I think this new single is able to smash the top 10 in UK because first week's downloads figures gave good results.

Kate Bush is my favourite British female singer of all time. She is genius. If there's any justice in the world (sorry Lemar fans) her new single "King of the mountain" should hit the top 5 next week.

Keep in mind that Kate Bush has had bigger success on the U.K. album charts:

    3 # 1 albums
    2 # 2 albums
    2 # 3 albums

Her lowest charting album "Lionheart" peaked at # 6 in 1978. Not bad at all...

    Welcome back Kate!!!

    Rock Bottom

Well, I like Madonna but there are better singers out there. From Aretha Franklin and Patti Smith to Dusty Springfield and Reba McEntire.

So, to answer your question Mariah, Whitney and Celine are somewhere between the positions from # 51 to # 75 in my all time list.

Madonna is among my Top 25 female artists.

You can tell by their music that they certainly are not British. Kates album is a hot contender for # 1.

She has started recording a follow-up, though - Del Palmer (her long-time collaborator) confirmed on his MySpace in January that recording work has begun.

No probs. She started recorded Aerial in early 2002, and finished in late 2004, with the release delayed until end of 2005 for marketing reasons. So I'll hazard a wild guess at November 2012 for the new one.

She'll have to make a bit more effort to market her next release, whenever that is. With Aerial she did one or two interviews before pulling the plug on any further interviews and basically did not co-operate on any publicity designed for the album. One single, the album didn't sell that brilliantly and the entire project was over almost immediately. The record label put in a lot of effort for very little return and were probably frustrated by KB's lack of co-operation regarding publicising the album.

That's the whole point of Kate Bush, though - she doesn't care whether they sell or not, only if artistically her albums turn out the way she wanted.

EMI didn't really do that much for her - the website was set up, and that's pretty much it. They don't own her material, she does (hence why there's no updated greatest hits), and her company licenses it to them, so any kind of costs making videos etc is paid for by her. She's just one of their flagship artists that doesn't make them money but is good for their prestige.

And to be honest, would it have sold much better with promo? It sold 350k in the UK, the same as her last release, The Red Shoes, and that one had a mini-film, four singles and TV promo that continued for 12 months.

But i agree, it would be nice to see her do a headline TV interview, and more than one video (a second one could have been released to tie in with her Brits nominations). And even better, a live show. Not a tour, we know there's no chance of that happening, but would be ace if she headlined the Meltdown Festival or something small like that.
