Gloria Estefan's "Christmas through your eyes" is Platinum (1,000.000), but she would sold less...

I didn't know that celine's xmas album sold more than mariah's considering that celine released hers 4 years after mariah's. i've always thought that mariah's merry christmas is the biggest selling xmas albums of all time (as claimed by many lambs) but I guess they are wrong...

They're talking worldwide sales, 'Merry Christmas' sold 11-12 million worldwide.

well, Celine's album still does well every year so it's not like These Are Special Times stopped selling and Mariah only has to sell two copies to top it.

1992's "A Very Special Christmas II" is likely on this list too, it sold a lot during the Xmas of 1992. The first one is a classic but as it came out in 1987, I dunno if it's sold 1 million in the Soundscan age.

Another one that seems to be a perennial seller that I dunno the scans are is "Christmas Portrait" by The Carpenters

Don't be too sure about that. Although Mariah's version is a new edition (DualDisc) it only outsold Celine's album with about 3,000 this week (10,900 v 7,800). And she still needs to catch more than 80,000.

They're talking worldwide sales, 'Merry Christmas' sold 11-12 million worldwide.
Mariah's Merry Christmas sold 9.4 million worldwide.
    Celine's sold 7 million worldwide.
Elvis's sold 9 million in US alone, but other countries's sales are not available, so keep this conservatively.
Barbra's sold 5 million in US alone, again, reason is same as Elvis.

but for the contemporary artists, it should be Mariah. :-?

    Celine's 7 million WW ? Please Nelson

USA close to 4,6m soundscan only, Canada 800k since 1998, over 500k in Japan, over 1m in Europe, at least 150k in Mexico etc... Without any doubt massive sales in Asia, with music clubs maybe 5m in USA, so, 7 million is very, very, very conservative.

Yeah, ignore fans like that. I don't know why fans of artists feel the need to inflate sales, it's not like those sales are theirs.

So you know who is a true lamb?
And I use Oricon numbers of 2.094 million and not the 2.7 million for Oricon + imports + shipment, since it's so unfair for other artists.

    Agree.
Mariah's sales are already impressive, sold over 100 million, why they still have to inflat? It's even better and fans like to make it better than the best.

And artists like Kelly, Britney should be inflated, I have no comment and forgive them for doing so since their sales are low and not over 100 million.

I guess Basil doesn't have that info, so I'll supply it.

Elvis has only one Soundscan Xmas millionseller: Elvis' Christmas album which has scanned 1,020,000 copies.

It doesn't sell much these days (<100), his current xmas bestseller is It's Christmas Time.
It scanned 7,400 copies last week, to a total of 740K.
Another noteworthy Elvis xmas album is Blue Christmas, which has scanned 545K so far.

According to the Joel Whitburn books they are a "Classical-Rock" group from Omaha Nebraska. They first charted in 1984.

They have released SEVEN Christmas Albums and a Box Set. Total Shipments of their Christmas Albums is

    21,625,000!!

I haven't a clue about their music - never heard it. Perhaps some of our American Forum Members could enlighten us - why are they so popular?

Thanks Hanboo. Not bad for a 1957 album. Seems it's only the second 1950's release with over a million soundscan (with Kind Of Blue).

Dane - you'll need this one for your catalogue thread.
