Hello, thass_hot. Please, do you have also portuguese singles charts from that 1994-1997 period? Even some radio charts would be welcomed.

Is there a Portuguese music association site where you can check gold/platinum database?

AFP (associação fonográfica portuguesa) is a joke to be honest, not just because of the secretism they make the charts, but also because there's no official single charts (accepted by everyone). Some certifications were posted in this thread some pages ago!

So guys! I was recently in Portugal to try to gather as more charts as I could. As I've said before, I will focus on albums chart.

The 2nd half of 1994 I already posted (information gathered from SE7E newspaper)
From the 2nd half 1997 to September 2000 it will be available little by little (Público newspaper)

I know some TV magazines used to post album charts (though only top 10 or maybe top 15). Can anyone tell me which magazines/newspapers should I look for when I go to public library?

TV Mais, TV Guia, TV 7 dias,...?

    Thanks y'all!

i think that was in a time when Urge Overkill's"Girl You'll Be a Woman Soon" had a lot of airplay.

MCA come to Portugal in 1995 or 1996.

Perhaps also due a tv campaign. There were a lot of big hits thank to campaings in the SIC channel (Megadiscos, Globo, etc)

    11/1996 - The Definitive Simon & Garfunkel - Simon & Garfunkel (1991/1994)
    01/1998 Best Ballads - Cock Robin (1995)

    and so on

I don't remember any singles chart published in Blitz. And even if there was a singles chart, would be something alternative, not commercial!

    A) Have found this. FYI:

June 27, 2000 - Press release - Associação Fonográfica Portuguesa

Portuguese Chart - New Single Weekly Chart

This is to inform that as from today AFP is publishing its new Single Chart (Top 30).

As the other charts published by AFP, the new single Top 30 chart is produced by AC Nielsen Porugal, using the same system in place for our album charts (Artists and Compilations). Since Februry 1997 AFP / AC Nielsen have started a fully electronic system through bar code scanning on selected retail outlets, including the main specialised record shops networks, hypermarkets, supermarkets and independent retail outlets.
    B) I cannot track down this song which was #1 on October 14, 2000; can somebody please direct me to some source?

No Meu Corpo - Gonçalo - Columbia - (Sony Music)

Gonçalo (aka Gonzo) was a member of the portuguese boys band Excesso. I think he released an álbum but with lack of success.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVDulAyIKN4

The newspaper Blitz published both portuguese singles and albuns charts since its begin (Nov 1984). After 1988 and til early 90s they continued to publish the charts but a great majority were repeated in long periods of time.

Some of the no. ones from 1990 until Dec 1993 when the chart was cancelled (main source TV Guia)

    Lambada - Kaoma
Another Day In Paradise - Phil Collins
Pump Up The Jam - Technotronic
Baby Can I Hold You - Tracy Chapman
    Nothing Compares 2 U - Sinead O'Connor
Não Há Estrelas No Céu - Rui Veloso
    A Paixão - Rui Veloso
    Blue Velvet - Bobby Vinton
    What Is Sadeness - Device
    Sadness - Enigma
I Can See Clearly Now - Johnny Nash
    So Sad - Gregorian
    Hotel California - Gipsy Kings
Everything I Do - Bryan Adams
Taras e Manias - Marco Paulo
    Don't Cry - Gun'N'Roses
Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me - George Michael + Elton John
    Maubere - Rui Veloso
Easy Come And Go - Joker
Keep The Faith - Bon Jovi
    (...)

No. They repeated the charts very often because it wasn't important for their target. Blitz was more alternative,

RFM has a songs chart since the middle 80's,

But I don't see the RFM song archive from years 1994 until 2000. I don't need an archive after 2000.

I was searching February. march and april 1995 and there was no charts at all - singles, albums or even specific radio stations chart

SE7E as a newspaper didn't publish any chart. Only when it converted to the magazine (June-Dec 94) format it included the the top 30 album chart

The thing is weekly magazines like TV Guia, TV 7 dias and TV mais used to published the album chart but only the top 10, not the whole chart!

Now I remember Top + in 1991 and 1992 used to publish the top 10 singles charts, but in an era people actually bought physical singles. As I grew up in the 90s, I don't remember people buying singles. The only store I remember selling CD singles was Worten and even the singles section was really small!

    There's no archive.

It's only an example of the official site of RFM that began in 1996 or 1997.

Try to contact RFM but it could be difficult.
