I didn't realise this was on - although I probably should have remembered that 2FM tends to do this sort of thing on bank holidays.

But, as it doesn't look as if the complete UK Top 40 is in its usual 4.00 - 7.00pm slot today on BFBS Radio 1 (maybe it'll start at 5pm, 6pm or 7pm, though!) I've now switched over to 2FM.

Presumably, though, like so many previous occasions, it's a six-hour show, from 12 noon to 6.00, so quite a few tracks have to be missed out - instead of the more obvious solution of allocating seven or eight hours instead!!

It is a 6 hour show. I don't mind them not playing everything but they could at least do a full countdown! Ruth Scott isn't so bad but Damian Farrelly missed out half the chart!

From the list so far, it looks as if the chart is primarily (or entirely!) based on listeners' votes. "Wish I" by Jem, for example, only peaked at number 27 in Ireland - and there may even be a few tracks on this list that didn't chart at all.

I can't say I'm all that impressed with Ruth Scott, who I've never heard before. Did she play a completely different record after the number 24 and before the number 21 than the two she has just said were at 23 and 22?? And she's just mentioned the Scissor Sisters in a position not as per the list above, and artists only, no titles, for the unplayed numbers 15 and 14.......

    I've given up!

She did actually stop at one point after Green Day and did a recap from 50 - unfortunatley I had no warning and didn't get over in time to tape it! We might be lucky and find it on the 2FM webite at some point!

I had your earlier post on-screen at that point, and 50-31 matched up - but then I think she said the Scissor Sisters were also at 31 with "Take Yo Mama". What???

Then, (adapting your above post!), this is what she said was 30-11:

30 Eminem - Real Slim Shady
    29 Nelly & Kelly - Dilemma
28 Girls Aloud - Love Machine
27 Nickelback - [How??] You Remind Me
    26 R Kelly - Ignition
25 Madison Avenue - Don't Call Me Baby
24 Will Young - Leave Right Now
    23 Mary Mary - Shackles
    22 Elvis / JXL - A Little Less Conversation
21 KT Tunstall - Black Horse & The Cherry Tree
    20 Maroon 5 - This Love
    19 David Gray - Babylon
    18 Santana - Smooth
17 Keane - Somewhere Only We Know
16 Green Day - Wake Me Up When September Ends
15 Bob SInclar - Love Generation
14 Darkness - I Believe In A Thing Called Love
    13 James Blunt - You're Beautiful
    12 Avril Lavigne - Complicated
11 Ronan Keating - Loving Each Day

But your post does confirm that I heard what I thought I heard after Will Young and before KT Tunstall - X-press 2 ft David Byrne - Lazy!!

And the complete UK Top 40 has just started on BFBS Radio 1, so that's where I'm going now. The next three hours should be more satisfying than the last two!!!

You mean that the complete(ie all records played, 40 to 1) is broadcast in Ireland, while, here, we get JK & Joel??

Not in Ireland as such - available over the internet worldwide. The option to listen live, on WIndows Media Player, is on this page:

    http://www.ssvc.com/bfbs/radio/index.htm

And yes, all forty hits in the official UK Top 40 are played every week. Normally it starts at 4pm - but, maybe due to Easter, it's two hours later this week. The second hour has just started - number 29 (Lorraine) is playing as I write this.
