Two-time Grammy winner Kelly Clarkson will headline her first HBO concert event next February, it was announced Wednesday by Chris Albrecht, chairman and CEO of HBO.

To be presented from London’s historic Wembley Arena February 3, the special will feature the singer performing her greatest hits, as well as material from herthird album, which will be released that same month.

“Kelly Clarkson is an electrifying performer who has taken the world of pop music by storm,” noted Albrecht. “I’m delighted to welcome this exciting star to HBO for what promises to be an unforgettable concert event.”

Texas native Kelly’s second RCA Records album, “Breakaway,”has sold more than ten million copies worldwide while producing five hit singles - “Breakaway,” “Since U Been Gone,” “Behind These Hazel Eyes,” “Because of You” and “Walk Away” - and bringing her two Grammy Awards.

Logging more than a year in Billboard magazine’s Top 20, the “Breakaway” album has enjoyed multi-platinum sales around the globe, as well as winning American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards and Billboard Music Awards. Her 24-city “Addicted” concert tour began June 30 and is currently playing to sold-out houses around the country.

CAN'T WAIT no matter how much success and exposure she's had lately! I just met her earlier this month and she's an awesome person and really genuine!

I think it is too soon for her.

She just might over do it in spotlight, but im sure if rihanna can release 2 albums under 12 months kelly could.

But i suppose rihanna's first album wasnt catapulted that much around world.

    Oh well we'll see.

I'd love to hear an album less rock influenced. She's a stronger pop singer IMO. I got quite bored of her rock numbers on Breakaway.

^^ yeh I was gonna say that. Its only just been a year for the UK though. So it will be a year and a half. I agree that she is definatly working too hard and needs to take 6 months out of the spotlight to build more hype around the comeback. I cant wait though as I want a CD version of Yeah and Come Here.

Ardavis,HBO(Home Box Office) is the main pay per view channel in the States that is/was the home of quality shows like "The Sopranos","Six Ft Under",""Sex & the city" etc as well as being the home of high quality mini series/tv movies with big A List Hollywood Stars in them.
Also,re music, they've produced all the "Divas" music specials over the last few years with Destiny's Child,Faith Hill,Mary JBlige,Mariah etc so it's deffo a big coup and further boost for Kelly's Career that she's been offered such a big event with them.Cheers!

Well, from the new tracks she's playing on her current US tour you're going to be disappointed.

They're much more rocky than Breakaway. They do sound awesome though.

    Especially "Maybe" <3

She may overexpose herself, just like Avril did at the time. Not smart, methinks.

"[Patty Griffin and Ray LaMontagne] can break somebody's heart — but in a good way. And that's what I want to capture on the next album." — Kelly Clarkson

With the singer/songwriter side, fans can expect something similar to when Clarkson covered Ray LaMontagne's "Shelter" on the "ReAct Now: Music & Relief" Hurricane Katrina telethon last fall.

"The funny thing is nobody really knows that side of me," Clarkson said. "Patty Griffin is my favorite person on the planet and she's a total singer/songwriter like Bob Dylan. She's amazing and people don't get to hear a lot of that on the radio, and it's such a sad thing. Everything doesn't have to sound like bubblegum ear candy. I mean, I love bubblegum ear candy, but it's great to have a break from that. ... [Griffin and LaMontagne] have got voices where they can break somebody's heart — but in a good way. And that's what I want to capture on the next album."

Since Breakaway was released in fall 2004, Clarkson's been touring nearly nonstop to promote the smash LP. But she's also been accumulating songs along the way. In fact, she wrote two songs on her recent vacation that she expects to make the new, yet-untitled record.

"I'm always writing," she said. "I never really pick a time. They have these things in the music industry, it's really weird, they're writing camps. They set up a time to write with people, like you're supposed to schedule when you're gonna be inspired. I don't write like that. People that can, more power to you. I write every day, if something happens."

And, obviously, a lot has happened over Clarkson's transformation from "American Idol" to worldwide superstar.

"I love the ideas of the new songs," she said. "I noticed with [Breakaway] that people really like when it's not just a song, it's about something in particular. It's about things I love or dislike, crap relationships and great relationships. And then there's just fun songs. One of my favorites is called 'Yeah' and it's just a fun tour song. And since I tour a lot, I think there needs to be some of those."

Speaking of touring, Clarkson plans to record the new material with her band while on the road this summer. And she's bringing producer David Kahne (the Strokes, the Bangles) along to oversee the endeavor.

"So this record is going to be different, it's not really how a pop star would make an album, it's more like how a band would make an album," Clarkson said. "We're trying something new because I seem to work better that way. I'm so excited about the album, you have no idea. I already have the video concepts!"

Clarkson might branch out and work with other producers, but she wants to get "the meat" done with Kahne.

"He's ridiculous," she said. "He's like me in the sense that he doesn't work on projects for the money — obviously, because he does a lot of indie bands. He does the projects because he's passionate about it. When he heard my vision for the next record, he loved it and was so on board with it. He's never really worked with someone as pop as me, so it'll be different. And he's very much the technical guy. He starts throwing out phrases and I'm like, 'Wow, am I even in music?' But I feel it. I'm more the passionate person. I don't know what I'm doing, but I just do it."

If she does look to others, Will.I.Am is still at the top of her wish list.

"Will is just a brainiac and he likes to do new and inventive things, and I'd love to [collaborate], even if it's not on my record," she said. "If I come up with something and I hear someone else in my head or think it could be a cool duet or if someone sends me a song, I'm totally down. But for right now, we're focusing."

    Callaborations?

I love my record label but people are afraid to try new things, especially because record labels don't make the money they used to," Clarkson explained. "But we push 'em. This is going to be 10 steps away from Breakaway."

Kelly is also hoping to do some collaborating on the album.

"I just ran into the Black Eyed Peas, and I would love to do something with them, that would be cool, just something random," she said. "I ran into Chris Brown earlier today and he was like, 'We should do something together.' I dig him. I like music in general, so I'm always up for anything."
