I really thought Born in the USA and Streets of Philadelphia were #1 in the USA!

I couldn't be more wrong, LOL

    U.S.A.

    2. Bruce Springsteen, Working On A Dream, 102,000. The album slips from #1 to #2 in its second week. Given the size of the Super Bowl audience, this sales tally isn't very impressive. After two weeks, the album has sold 326,000 copies, fewer than Springsteen's last album, Magic, sold in its first week (335,000). Two songs from the album are listed on Hot Digital Songs. "Working On A Dream" jumps to #68. "The Wrestler" falls to #200.

Exactly. In my opinion, Bruce and Bob Dylan were the biggest artists who never had a #1 hit but scored at least one #2 hit.

"Dancing in the Dark" reached #2 in 1984. If you remember well, he wrote in the liner notes from "Greatest Hits".

"Dancing in the Dark. My big smash! #2 in the charts. (Damn The Artist Formerly Known As Prince.)"

That was because DITD was knocked-off the top spot by Prince's "When Doves Cry". Hey, I'm a huge fan of Prince, but it's a shame that DITD was blocked from the top. DITD is a coooool song.

Bruce also never had a #1 in the UK, but "Streets Of Philadelphia" reached #2 there.

Funily enough, in France where he never had an album #1 in the main chart, Streets of Philadelphia was a massive #1 single, topping charts for 5 weeks in 3 separated runs at the top.

I'm really happy for Bruce. He's dominating the charts. A fall of 1-7 seems pretty dramatic, but in fact the sales didn't drop too much.
And it's a huge feat to sell just as Magic in the first 3 weeks, considering it's February.
