I thought was fun to say that i'm Portuguese and my favourite team (along with other 6 million Portuguese people) is Benfica
Sadly Manchester is too strong for us..we should have won the first game in Denmark, that's where we lost our ticket... Go Chelsea!!!

Thanks Cider & jimmy, yeah it was a good win. Unfortunately we got the useless 4th place anyway. :(

Well Edu, that first-game draw was only good for Celtic. It's where we lost our ticket too!

This group really goes to show how difficult it is to win abroad. Celtic got all 9 poits home, FCK got all 7 points home, Benfica got 6/7 points home and Man U got 9/12 points at home!!!

    Great! Thanks!

Interesting to see the huge sales increases when anniversary editions was released (In Rock in 1995, Fireball in 1996 etc).

The albums ranked top to buttom:

Deep Purple - Made In Japan - 201,400
    Deep Purple - In Rock - 130,455
    Deep Purple - Machine Head - 85,311
    Deep Purple - Fireball - 52,237
    Deep Purple - Burn - 37,728
Deep Purple - Who Do We Think We Are? - 15,664

I know "Machine Head" scanned 321K in the US since 1991. I'd expect it to be the top catalog seller over there. Intrestingly it's well behind "Made in Japan" and "In Rock" in the UK!

    Fireball v Burn:

The reason "Fireball" is in the lead is probably because it was remastered in 1996 - 8 years prior to "Burn". Looking at the numbers from 1992-1995 "Burn" won each year, and of course since 2004 also, but also some in between (like 2001).

Great news! This is the first time I've seen any Deep Purple album in the cat 200!

Released in 2000 it didn't chart at all, and now it's close to Gold! Probably shipped 500K already!
This will be their first certified album since "Perfect Stranger" from 1984!!!

I dont think they have sold 100.000 million.

They dont have huge singles and in the US their sales are not that good.

Everybody sells 100 million according to Wikipedia. Its not that easy.

I've only reported that article. So, do you think recordland source was wikipedia?

    Hi borderwolf.

I dont know if this company is linked to Wikipedia but what I know that Wiki is the source for many of this websites.

Even some respected reporters give credit to Wikpedia which shows how bad the music industry is right now.

..I can become an interesting debating point when considering the band has been releasing material for 40 yrs now...and are generally under-certified in every market...one interesting clue came out in a 1980 with a court case that dealt with the phoney Deep Purple started by original lead singer Rod Evans...the royalties were shown in the case for the first three albums and singles by the MKI version from 1968-69 (the least commercially successful of all the versions)...that showed that amount to be in the 3-4 million range for units in the US based on royalties paid to Evans from 1971-80 when Warner Bros picked up the MKI catalogue, the band averaging around $100,000 per year in royalties from material released in 1968-69...which of course is not identified by the RIAA or another DP recording companies not registered in the US..the outcome of the case..resulted in Evans losing his rights to those royalities and the remaining band members to receive them into the furure for damages and compensation.. Take care
