OK, ever since I got a PC I wanted to digitize my old personal charts, but I never got round to learning how Access works, so I decided to post them here, which would be more fun anyway.

My ultimate purpose is to track down every single song that appeared on the 1st edition of my personal charts (Dec 1990 - Mar 1994) as I'm posting them here.

My chart started off as a "top 20", but sometimes I'd make notes of the songs appearing in lower places. Now most of that extra data is lost, which is why some of the charts look odd (lots of missing places below #20).

The core of the chart was gradually extended to 100 songs and stayed that way till the end.

That's interesting. 1990 was that year when I only was starting to listen to music, there are many titles I don't remember. In general, I could woo for Snap, Pet Shop Boys, A-Ha.. not sure if I knew these from your charts.
    Never gonna give it up,
    I never wanna stop...

Wow! Great stuff, George. Thanks for sharing!

Woo for EMF, The Cure, A-Ha, Enigma and Deee-Lite with "Groove is in the Heart" - one of my favourite songs from my younger years, especially the "1,2,3 'blululululubb" bit - much to my parents annoyance.

Loads of songs I'm unfamiliar with due to being too young but I do like that Beautiful South record which (I think) was a UK #1 too.

Sorry, George, I'm young: I was only 2 1/4 years old back in the day of these charts of yours.

Wouldn't mind WOOOO!ing the obvious, only the ones I'm surprised to see.

    1) "Close to Me" by The Cure

Your electro-leaning taste atm somehow gives an impression you would not have liked this song.

    2) "Unchained Melody" by Righteous Brothers

Because of "Ghost" or because of the song itself? I never knew in my case!

    3) "Wam Bam Boogie" by Matt Bianco

I love their and Basia's music soooo much- this song included!

    4) "A Little Time" by The Beautiful South

WOOOOO! I don't know why but I'm surprised you liked this tune so much. Still love it?

I was unfamiliar with Unchained Melody until 1990, and given its re-release, I included it. My charts were only about *new* music back then and loosely dependent on MTV and radio playlists.

Yes, I still love A Little Time, though I can't say the same about some tracks I downloaded and remembered these past few days (Paul Simon, Twenty-4-Seven, Jon Bon Jovi :-? ).

Great post- i'll post my old ones sometime- rather more extensive- i even stretched to a top 100 around 99/2000! Never again!

Great to see Kim Appleby, INXS, U2- why the hell wasn't that a single??- the Oakenfold mix \was stunning- i have it on tape somewhere. Twenty-4-Seven! Matt Bianco- my (almost) namesake! Bianchi is my last name! Madonna, Queen, Seal, Enigma.
