Wow I still can't get over this album. I really think this is one of the best records in ages. And this is coming from someone who wasn't particularly a fan of Kate Nash to begin with, I think I remember myself quoting "do we need another Lily Allen?", but how wrong I was.

    Best British album of 2007.

Sometimes I wish I was like Mar-i-ella. She took some Pritt Stick and glued her lips together!

    Genius.

Y'all should check out the original demos of 'Shit Song', 'We Get On' and 'Dickhead' before the studio gloss was applied. The arrangements on the album are a little... clumsy.

Got this email regarding Kate Nash -

    Hello hello
been so busy lately. doing all the festivals which have been amazing. Some highlights... i liked the shock i got from the massive crowd at 02 hyde park, the coloured in sheep at latitude, wearing gold leaf, going 'hippy' and being generally annoying at glastonbury, the cake i got from the promoter at t in the park, seeing that guy from the killers and meeting lovefoxx at oxygen, also daft punk were absolutely one of the best sensory overloads i've ever experienced. erm.. what else? er, there's been so much going on. i finally got to brimingham which was good. nice and formal, everyone was sitting down, really enjoyed the atmosphere there...also did sheffield which we missed on the tour, and it was elliotts birthday so we got more cake and balloons etc. erm.

the album's finally coming out on the 6th! this monday. august 2007. so that's kinda why everything's been pushed forward, i've been rushed around doing loads of tv and press, getting artwork and videos (and the actual album) ready. i had to miss playing the secret garden party. i was kinda upset by what they wrote on some chalk board about how 'my people' thought i was too big to play now. i actually called and emailed and sent my demo to them last year and i got an email with one sentence saying how i wasn't what they were looking for. pff. anyway.. yeah sorry again to anyone who did actually go to see me there and didn't. it was actually due to the surprise success of foundations that everythings been a bit rushed so it's all actually positive really. thanks so much to whoever is/has/keeps buying the single. i keep thinking surely everyone must have it by now and then there's still more sales each week. you are wonderful.

So here's the track listing for 'Made Of Bricks'
    1. Play
    2. Foundations
    3. Mouthwash
    4. Dickhead
    5. Birds
    6. We Get On
    7. Mariella
    8. Shit Song
    9. Pumpkin Soup
    10. Skeleton Song
    11. Nicest Thing
    12. Merry Happy

    Hope you can enjoy

You can also get the Foundations video and 'A Is For Asthma' on the i-tunes version of the album. Next week I'm doing an instore and signing at HMV. I'm there from 6pm, playing for about an hour and then signing copies of the album until 7.30pm.

Then, straight over to C4 for the album chart show which will go out next Friday 10th August. Also, I'm doing a few radio sessions next week - on Radio 2 with Dermot O Leary on Saturday 11th where we did a cover of cold war kids, hang me up to dry, not sure if that's going out then but listen out for it on his show cause i think it sounded cool. dermot was so nice! also got an XFM Session friday. and .. I'm hosting the Hit 40 Chart show on Capital this Sunday with Lucio from 4-7pm which should be jokes.

At first, I thought she was a total Lily Allen rip-off. Now, I like Foundations & I'm looking forward to her album. I'll hear it soon.

    I love the album.
    It's amazing.

There's not one song I don't like - it's an album I can sit there and listen to the whole way through, without having to skip anything.

I'd rank it (counting Merry Happy/Little Red as one song)

    1 Skeleton Song
    2 Foundations
    3 Mouthwash
    4 We Get On
    5 Pumpkin Song
    6 Mariella
    7 Nicest Thing
    8 Merry Happy/Little Red
    9 Birds
    10 Dickhead
    11 Shit Song
    12 Play

It's just fantastic! So happy it's miles ahead in the midweeks!

Please edit album title- Made Of Bricks.

Great stuff- reminds me of Kirsty MacColl, Squeeze, The Beautiful South.

Mouthwash will be huge, so will Pumpkin Soup and Merry Happy.
Dickhead and Shit Song are great sweary alt-pop.
It's so good that she's heading for number one- our best big pop star since Jarvis!

How can Foundations have four chart positions???

Oh it's a shame Caroline's A Victim isn't on the album even though Birds is. Not all of us managed to get the vinyl single

CAV is on iTunes for 79p, but I do agree it should have been a hidden track at the end of the album.
Foundations has 4 positions as they are

    'Foundations (Full Explicit Version)'
    'Foundations (Full Version)'
    'Foundations'
    'Foundations (Clean Edit)'

Amazing. I think this will be only the third time a female will debut at #1 with her first album this century. And the first from the UK, I might be wrong.

Lily Allen managed it as well, but this is still a huge achievement.

She could even sell more than Lily, in my opinion.

Just heard Made Of Bricks, and it's wonderful. Love her. Top Lyrics, great melodies.

    Instant favourites:
    Foundations
    Mouthwash
    Birds
    Mariella
    Nicest Things

But every single song on this album is at least VERY good.
