Without further ado, let's get this countdown started!

First up, we visit the 70's and 80s for a mega-female star of film and stage....

    (339) 100. Olivia Newton-John (265 points, 8 voters)
Voted By: nothingfails, werr11, ChrisH, aez, wisteriaboy, Lewis17, zeus555, AyumiH
Signature Song: "You're The One That I Want" (with John Travolta)
    Signature Album: "Grease (Soundtrack)"

Making a large leap into the Top 100 and starting the countdown is Aussie star Olivia Newton-John. As some may know, Olivia started as a country singer in the early 70's, producing songs like "I Honestly Love You." In the late 70's, she, like Shania Twain and Faith Hill after her, moved into the pop realm in a big way with the movie musical "Grease" and its mega-selling soundtrack. From there, she was a major pop star all the way through the 80s, producing hits like "Physical," "Magic," "Xanadu," "Twist Of Fate," and "Heart Attack." She is also an actress, appearing in several movies, often with musical themes (The roller derby-supernatural flick "Xanadu" a major example). More recently, Olivia has battled breast cancer and still tours worldwide for nostalgic audiences. UKMIX now ranks her its #100 artist!

    #99 tomorrow...

"I honestly love you" is one of my favorite ballads though and she's had decent hits. "you're the one that i want" has to be an all time fave too!

but, still... LOL! her @ 100 dunno why.

Some missed... all with zero points... let us shed a tear for them....

(NEW) 499. Teardrop Explodes (0 points)

A band new to me (and our chart) is Liverpool band Teardrop Explodes, playing what is called "Post Punk/ Neo-Psychedelic Rock" Formed by Julian Cope, the band produced only two albums in 1980 and 1981 before dissolving and leading to Cope's solo career. They did have a Top 10 UK hit in 1981 with "Reward."

    (575) 498. Patsy Cline (0 points)

UKMIX, unfortunately, wasn't "Crazy" about this 60's country singer, who also produced the well known hit "I Fall To Pieces." Heavily influential in her genre, Cline has become a legend in our day, a model of female grace and stellar vocal.

(NEW) 497. Little Feat (0 points)

Little Feat is an American band formed by singer-songwriter Lowell George in 1969. Their style mixed rock, blues, country, funk, and blues. The band went through several lineups, a version of which endures to our own day. Deeply admired by Led Zeppelin, the band's influence is much greater than its chart positions.

(NEW) 496. Glenn Miller & His Orchestra (0 points)

Big band superband Glenn Miller & His Orchestra is best known for two huge 30's and 40's hits "In The Mood" and "Moonlight Serenade." These have become timeless classics that, for many, represent their era. UKMIX just wasn't in the mood to give them points...

    More missed tomorrow...

    Patsy Cline.

I completely forgot about her. She use to be my Mom's favorite singer and we listened to her a lot. Walkin After Midnight is my favorite from her.

Olivia Newton John... not too crazy about her. I like Hopelessly Devoted to You though

I have loved Olivia Newton-John since practically out of the womb. Physical was one of my earliest musical memories and I've always liked her. My faves have to be the Physical and Totally Hot albums, and I also loved Xanadu. I like Soul Kiss, The Rumour and some of her lesser known latter material as well. Not too keen on the pre-Grease material outside of a few songs tho. Did not expect her to make the top 100 but I'm pleasantly surprised.

    Top 5:
    1. Make A Move On Me
    2. Magic
    3. Landslide
    4. You're The One That I Want
    5. Please Don't Keep Me Waiting

Patsy Cline had a fantastic voice, but sadly I never really got into her like I would've liked to.

Little Feat I honestly can't name a song of, even tho I know my older brother had one of their albums in the 70's.

Olivia Newton-John is a legend, but hardly someone I expected to see on this list. For me, she'll always be "the woman from Grease", though I do remember "Physical" in the 80s.

Only know the name Teardrop Explodes, don't know any of their songs.

Patsy Cline, only know "Crazy" but it is a country standard.

Little Feat - only know them because I believe they featured in a rock one of these I did once

Glenn Miller - I know he's a legend, but don't know his band's performances really. However I do know "In The Mood".

Grease was a great movie. Every kid/teen should see it.
Olivia at #100 :-? I suppose it's an ok start to this fine chart. Could be worse for sure!

Patsy sang some good tunes, I'm not a country fan though.

    I honestly never heard a non-Grease Newton-John's song.. but I can't argue with that entry, I guess

rather sad to see Glen Miller being nominated but ignored in the end

I doubt that somebody who died at the age of 30 can be called lucky by any means :(

Yeah, however accomplished an act, this is all about favourites - what you actually listen to.

Patsy Cline - died in 1963 - huge influence on country music particularly paving the way for female singers. Her 10 million selling Greatest Hits is 25th on Dane's All Time Thread with 3.8 million copies going over the counter since 1991 - that's more than Sgt Pepper or Thriller or Led Zep IV! Respect - but not my type of music.

Glenn Miller - died in 1944. According to the billboard chart books (and they have all the figures) his was the most popular Big Band of all time - some acolade. Again Respect - but I don't listen to big bands.

ONJ - NME used to call her Olivia Neutron Bomb or Olivia Newton Squirrel. But she was one of the biggest selling female artists of her era (70's/80's) in the US with at 12 Gold albums and 4 Double Platinum ones. Probably only Linda Ronstadt out sold her back then. On average she must have been at 17th on the list of the 8 voters so must have a decent following on UKmix - never seen a thread on her though. Not my cup of tea (musically). Sorry NothingFails.
