BBC Radio 1 Playlist

I'd rather think that playlisting songs is to do with what the programmers think will play well with their audience. If an artist is hot and popular (as evidenced by having several previous singles playlisted, from an album that's still selling well) then why wouldn't the next single get playlisted?

That is totally how it works in my opinion. Playlisting is all about trying to get whats right for the audience.

If the feedback from the audience suggests that they love Florence, then why wouldn't they try and carry on pleasing their listeners by playlisting her?

People complain about the records that do and do not make these playlists - but ruling out songs on the basis that many others from the same album have already been playlisted is ludicrous!

For me it's more about giving other songs from fresher artists a bigger boost than a 4th or 5th single from an album, especially when said song is from an already big selling album, and probably won't do much in the singles chart as a result anyway.
Oh well, at least they're successful, some others like All Time Low and You Me At Six are baffling.

They were on the Upfront list, so they weren't exactly getting massive spins anyway. The Upfront list should be scrapped anyway, just make it a larger C-list like it was some years ago
