    NEW RELEASES: A HIP-HOP FACE-OFF?

There may be some chart drama brewing, as Chance the Rapper and NF are on track to control next week's top two spots. For today, and with limited info, we're giving Chance the advantage. The two releases have D2C offers and strong streaming, so each has an upside. Look for an update on Monday once we have more info.

Chance the Rapper (Chance the Rapper) 90-100k total activity, 24-27k album
    NF (NF Real/Caroline) 80-90k, 55-60k
    Of Monsters & Men (Republic) 30-35k, 27-30k
    Justin Moore (Valory/BMLG) 21-24k, 17-20k

Side note: The NF cover art appears to be inspired by the 2009 film version of Cormac McCarthy's chilling apocalyptic novel, The Road—which does not inspire us to watch it (or read it) again. It's too damn hot for dystopia.

In other news, we need an ice bath, but all the ice is already in this cocktail.
Bad news for hip hop sales, Chance The Rapper album was one of the most anticipated albums, and personally i always believe that will debuted easily above 200k on SPS, so this number is very very low.

NF number isn't that bad, but he will need a powerful single like "Let You Down" if he wants to repeat the amazing numbers reahed with Perception.

Very low year for hip-hop, considring the numbers of the industry and the strong SPS numbers for the whole industry and the dominance of hip-hop on the streaming world.

    Thanks skycycle, for updating this.

This number includes the SPS generated from tracks released on dates previous the release date of the album during the 2019 period.

The ranking that i usually publish is the RAW SPS version (SPS generated only after the released date of the album). Because we don't have the info of SPS generated on previous years for some albums (example, tracks released during 2018 and SPS during that year aren't included on the oldbloke estimation).

I don't have much time to update the thread, so i'm happy that more people are updating this amazing thread.

Looks like Chance The Rapper wasn't capable of debuting at #1 on billboard 200, according HITS estimation (124k for NF vs 118k for Chance). Really bad debut for Chance the Rapper.

And Drake surprise released have a chance of reaching top 10 or top 5 on this list during the nexts weeks.
HITS are projeting a debut over 100k on SPS.

This should be the current top 10, at least at a glance; first number is the opening week album-equivalent units, second one is pure album sales. Looks like we're about to have a few shifts during the next week or two with a number of 100k+ releases.

NF scores his second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart as the rapper’s latest studio effort, The Search, enters atop the tally.

The set, which was released on July 26 via NF Real Music/Caroline, starts with 130,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Aug. 1 according to Nielsen Music -- the fourth-largest week for a rap album released in 2019. Of that sum, 84,000 were in album sales, which made it the biggest sales week for a rap set this year.

The Search’s first-week more than doubles the debut frame of NF’s last album, Perception, which opened at No. 1 with 55,000 units earned (of which 38,000 were in album sales) on the chart dated Oct. 28, 2017.

    [...]

Perception has gone on to earn a total of 1.1 million equivalent album units, with 160,000 of that sum in album sales. The album’s tracks have collectively sold 1 million downloads, and generated over 1.2 billion on-demand audio streams.

    [...]

At No. 2 on the new Billboard 200, Chance the Rapper’s The Big Day debuts with 108,000 equivalent album units earned (with 27,000 of that figure in album sales). The Big Day marks Chance’s highest-charting album yet, and third top 10 overall.

Of The Big Day’s unit start, 80,000 of that sum was driven by SEA units, which translates to 104 million on-demand audio streams for the set’s songs during the week, making The Big Day the most-streamed album of the week.

    [...]

At No. 8, rappers Key Glock and Young Dolph’s team-up on the collaborative set Dum and Dummer arrives with 36,000 equivalent album units (with just 2,000 of that sum in album sales). The set’s debut is powered almost entirely by streaming activity, as it garnered 33,000 SEA units (equating 43.7 million on-demand audio streams for the set’s songs). Dum and Dummer is the first top 10 for either act: Key Glock notched two earlier entries, while Young Dolph placed seven albums on the list.

    [...]

Closing out the new top 10 is the multi-artist Revenge of the Dreamers III project as it falls 5-10. The former No. 1 earned 33,000 units in the latest tracking week, down 21%.
Drake will score his sixth #1 debut with Care Package (OVO/Republic). The Disney Channel’s Descendants 3 Soundtrack could land in the Top 10. Four Tool albums may appear in the Top 20 as the band’s catalog was made available to download and stream for the very first time.

    ====================

So these are the latest top 20 numbers based on some additional estimates by oldbloke (thank you!), as well as my own research

DaBaby switches places with Future to grab 3rd spot, and DJ Khaled is about to overtake Offset in the coming week or two. Further down we have both DJ Mustard and Polo G trying to gain some positions on the back of strong singles, and we should also see Chance The Rapper and NF enter relatively soon. I've also added somewhat conservative estimates for Lil Pump and the Members Only compilation.

As always, everyone is welcome to share updated info on these or other releases!

New compilation album by Drake and studio albums from Trippie Redd and Rick Ross impacting the ranking big on next weeks.

I hope Rick Ross is able to beat Trippie Redd first week. Rick Ross dominates on Apple Music and Itunes, but Trippie Redd dominates by far on Spotify.

Thanks for the update for previous year, are those Week 30 estimates? (The week when NF and Chance dropped, also our latest update for 2019 above)

I will update this year's total SPS very soon, will probably include both Drake and Rick Ross's weeks at once (31 and 32)

So these are the latest top 20 numbers based on some additional estimates by oldbloke (thank you!), as well as my own research

Rick Ross opened with nearly 80k on week 32, which was enough for the #2 spot on the Billboard 200, where he was followed closely by Trippie Redd at #3 with 50,508 in total sales. The only other significant debut was Blueface with his 'Dirt Rag' EP, which landed at #48 with 12,314 in sales.

DJ Khaled and Mustard both gained a spot this week, and we should expect more movement at the edge of our top 10 in the coming weeks - especially given Young Thug's 130k debut on week 33.

As always, everyone is welcome to share updated info on these or other releases!

So these are the latest top 20 numbers based on some additional estimates by oldbloke (thank you!), as well as my own research

Young Thug scores the 4th largest opening week on our chart so far this year with 131,482 in total sales, and will comfortably enter the top 20 next week. Notably, with 4,805 he also recorded the lowest pure album sales opening week in the top 15 below, and the only one under 5k.

Also out: the second Quality Control compilation album, which opened at #3 on the Billboard 200 with 63,746 copies in total, as well as A$AP Ferg's 'Floor Seats' EP (#50 on the BB200, around 12k sold) and Snoop Dogg's 'I Wanna Thank Me' (#76 on the BB200, 9,131 sold). Rick Ross dropped to #8 on the BB200 with a total of 108,306 in sales after two weeks of release.

No movement in the top 10 after week 34, but Mustard is on the cusp of entering it, and Polo G is not far behind after gaining another position. NF climbed two spots and could move even further ahead in the following weeks, while Chance The Rapper has finally entered the top 20.

As always, everyone is welcome to share updated info on these or other releases!

Predictions for Post Malone new studio album?.

    I believe in something like 150k Sales + 400k SEA+TEA =550k SPS.

This will be easily the number #1 album on the 2019 SPS version.
