A classic! I love this song so much after all these years.
The video is quite funny as well.
I always thought of Brandy as my favorite of the two

It's only the song that turned me into an R&B fan, that's all. It has a lot to answer for

Stuntmasterz did a great job on this, mashing it into the Modjo track, turning it into The Ladyboy Is Mine

I love this. One of my favourite songs ever.

Once when me and my friend were really drunk we did about 3 peformances of this song in a row. I was Brandy and he was Monica!

Me and my sister used to sing this together when we were smaller!
I always used to be Brandy. We had such attitude!

This is a classic though! One of the best female duets ever. I love how they don't try to outdo each other vocally!

It's rare that a duet is my favourite song from BOTH artists in question... but that's exactly the case here.

I love this, my favourite from both Brandy AND Monica. One of my favourites of 1998

Brandy is the best in the song though.
It's quite ironic that now I prefer Monica as an artist!

Nice song. Even though i hate R&B, this song i can listen to. But after listening it for 10 times, you get very bored. But yeah, a real classic. Good one.

    Yes, I agree as well.

Both albums, of which this was the lead single, were also great. Although I did slightly prefer "Never Say Never" to Monica's album.

Echoing the 'classic' comments. One of the 1990's defining R&B moments.

I'd always liked both artists before this came out - I Wanna Be Down and Like This & Like That being favourites at the time but they damn near killed me when this was released.

From the opening harpischord to the girl's tag-team finale vocals, this is straight fire!! And one of least-dated number one singles of the decade.
    Baaaaad relationship??

This is a classic! I love this song to death. My two cousins would always perform this for me when I was little (8 or 9). One would pretend they were Brandy and the other, Monica. Brandy stuck out to me in this song. Although Monica was the better vocalist, Brandy's voice was just so unique and distinguished that I noticed her more. And this was when she had the classic "Brandy" box braids! She made such a fashion statement!

I love the Extended mix! The instrumentation and the bassline are sick!

    Yeah it was nice.

Modjo's "Chillin" actually blocked "The Boy Is Mine" off the top spot a couple of weeks here!
I love "Chillin" but "The Boy Is Mine" deserved at least one week at #1! :x
