After 4 years spending the Christmas holidays in the sun, we spend it at home this year. With all the fireworks going off day after day, I remember why I rather not be here.

Four nice trips set in stone so far for 2019:

    - Rotterdam (April). Few days and marathon.
    - Montenegro (April). Week hiking alone.
    - Norway (June-July). Two weeks hiking with a friend.
    - Boedapest (August). Week methods school, work related.

Probably will do Athens marathon in november, and hopefully another longer trip, maybe Canada. And Some other smaller trips.

    Much to look forward to!

I might go to London in May, but not sure what to do in the UK - my son loves the UK and wants to go. I found a cheap fare. Any ideas would be great

Plans for this year: Italy in June, Cte d'Azur in August and if I'm lucky, Egypt in December.

I might also be in Hamburg, Berlin + Cologne twice, although that's not so much 'travelling'.

also, I’ve always wondered, does Hamburg city have any connection to the food word Hamburger?

London is great, a but too chav-y in some parts but generally good...pretty much the best thing the Uk has to offer

It does. In German, 'Hamburger' refers to the inhabitants of the city of Hamburg. @stevyy is a Hamburger for example. The American dish 'hamburger' was named that way because the original recipe included stevyy meat. No beef, no ham (contrary to popular belief), but half human, half lamb.

No, Ive never been to Egypt.

Afternoon tea sounds delightful, but aren't you supposed to be hating me?

Anyhow, March is cold; I did consider it for Spring Break though! I'm so torn about doing this trip.

I have 4 trips planned for now until the end of the year:
    - Cologne in early April, combined with visit to FIBO
    - Birmingham in early May, combined with visit to Bodypower
    - 1.5 weeks in Madeira in early September
    - 2 weeks in Barbados in early December

This still leaves me with a few days of holiday left but I have not really decided yet what I want to do with them ...

Scared of what? What do you hear? I've been to Egypt three times: 2014/2015/2016.
I love it. First time we went to all the must see places like the pyramids in Cairo, the pharao graves in Luxor and the Red Sea to snorkle. The next two times, we just went to the Red Sea. We swam with wild dolphins, a huge sea cow and turtles. It's just amazing.

I love London. I've studied there for three months. And as my husband is English and has lived in London, we've been to London for weekends when we had just gotten together. It's been a long time now, since we last visited. Still, London will always be special to me. You should see all the sites if you go there for the first time. Like Harrods, the Big Ben, Picadilly Circus, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, the London Eye, etc. And of course go see a musical in the West End.

Is Grindelwald a real place? I just thought it was something from Harry Potter.

I’ve got one trip planned so far this year:
    Sofia > Istanbul > Batumi > Tbilisi > Baku

I have others planned in my head but need more time off work and more money. I’ve also become addicted to watching travel vlogs on YouTube.

Definitely real, I’ve done extensive research this week whilst ‘working’. I need to stand here:

How many countries has everyone visited?

I have visited 8 countries in my life. I think that is below average but as my passport recently expired I am probably not going to increase that amount anytime soon.

Quite a few - 48, to be precise. Some of these only for business, some only for holidays and some a mixture of the two. I started travelling fairly young, in my last year in secondary school (more than 20 years ago), and at that time travelling was not as affordable as it is today. With all LCCs nowadays (both short- and long- haul) and the constant fare wars even between the "proper" full-service airlines, I am sure that in 20 years you would have probably done more than that. The other thing that helped in my case was that for seven years I had a job, where international travelling was an integral part.

If interested, in alphabetical order: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cabo Verde, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, UAE, UK, USA, Vatican.

Wow that is a very impressive amount.

Somebody told me that you haven't really lived unless you have been to every continent so I'll have to try and improve my score at some point.

Mine: Cyprus, France, Ireland, Netherlands, Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, USA, Wales
