Okay - this should start over the weekend. Anyone with any burning requests, suggestions, etc, please do mention them now or forever hold your peace.

Barring any suggestions, or anything as random as my sudden questioning of the nationality of Michael Ball (who I have found despite strong links to Wales is most definitely English), I'll be running with the list above... well, might make one odd change, not sure yet, but nothing major at all.

Had no bloody clue some acts in that list were Welsh, ie Donna Lewis
Also, I disagree with the song choice for the Phonics

Gah - can people search out videos elsewhere for the ones they can't get those links to work for?

I've deleted my votes, as I wanted to vote at the end of the round. I'll vote later on tonight.

Oh, and to clarify the rather odd Phonics choice, I was left with a number of choices. Do I go for a Rod Stewart cover? Do I go for a song named after an American state? Both seemed too un-Welsh.

Then, with both Phonics and Manics, I shyed away from their "absolutely huge megastar" era, as they weren't quite so famously "a Welsh band" at the time. "Just Looking" would have been my alternative choice for the Phonics.

So - first round is gone, we had 6 voters, voting for 15 different songs. Jem is already looking shaky with 2 votes, but is safe for now.

So, first out, from the village of Bodelwyddan in Denbighshire, we have Wales's most successful boyband ever - 3SL and "Take It Easy". Made up of Andy, Ant and Steve three younger brothers of Steps singer Lisa Scott-Lee, they managed a few midtable hits earlier on this decade. However, with 5 votes they're first out.

Second out, in 64th place with 4 votes, it's farewell to a song with an interesting story behind it. "The Ayatollah" was so named after the fact that Cardiff City FC had a manager who used to shake his hands above his head during matches. When Cardiff City managed to make the FA Cup Final, a group calling themselves Cardiff City Fans reworked the "Macarena" of all things into "Do The Ayatollah". The only reason this doesn't have more votes is I think that mercifully it never charted!

So, the first act we lost, with 5 votes, was boyband 3SL, and it might come as some surprise that with only one fewer vote, we also lose their sister Lisa Scott-Lee with "Lately"! Lisa wasn't the only Stepper to come from Wales, I believe H does as well, but he didn't go totally solo. One of my uni mates went to school with her in Rhyl and said she was known to be rather easy!

Undoubtedly the biggest shock exit of round 1 would have to be that of Shakin' Stevens with "This Ole House". Shaky, as he's affectionately known, was arguably the biggest star of the 80s in the UK with his retro rock and roll style, and he was born in the Cardiff suburb of Ely. Alas I've not recognised him hanging around Cardiff!

Rolf Harris's Welsh roots aren't well known, but his parents were both from Cardiff. Obviously it's not for his own Welshness that his classic "Two Little Boys" is in here though, it's that at the back end of last year, he did a version with a choir from the village of Froncysyllte. Quite how the Fron Male Voice Choir found their "Voices Of The Valley" album amongst the year's big sellers a couple of years ago, I still can't quite fathom, but where would a Welsh survivor be without a traditional male voice choir?

    Last round we lost:
3SL - Take It Easy (5 votes last round, 5 votes to date)
Cardiff City Fans - Do The Ayatollah (4 votes last round, 4 votes to date)
Lisa Scott-Lee - Lately (4 votes last round, 4 votes to date)
Shakin' Stevens - This Ole House (3 votes last round, 3 votes to date)
Fron Male Voice Choir - Two Little Boys (with Rolf Harris) (3 votes last round, 3 votes to date)

    Results So Far
    65. 3SL - Take It Easy
    64. Cardiff City Fans - Do The Ayatollah
    63. Lisa Scott-Lee - Lately
    62. Shakin' Stevens - This Ole House
    61. Fron Male Voice Choir - Two Little Boys (with Rolf Harris)

Another round gone, and we now have 7 people voting for 19 different songs!

Safe on two votes this round are DJ Sasha, rock bands Bullet For My Valentine, Badfinger and the Blackout, and the current UK No. 1 from Bryn West and Vanessa Jenkins.

First out this round, a song that got no votes last round, but suddenly picked up 4 this round, the mighty Bridgend rockers Funeral For A Friend and "Streetcar".

Second out, with 3 votes this round, but 5 votes to date, it's the one we only marginally saved last time. Penarth singer-songwriter Jem has had quite a following on here, particularly for her top 10 hit "They". However, others seem to really dislike it, and therefore, she takes a surprisingly early exit!

Goldie Lookin' Chain are a rap collective from Newport who seem to have two sets of fans. One is the "chav" community. However, the other is a much wider appeal here in Wales! I think the fact that they've left in round 2 is no surprise, even if their unique brand of Newport-ness is legendary. They deserved better in here... you knows it!

Fourth out this round is the first of seven reality TV contestants in this list. Young Senny Bridge lad Rhydian Roberts could equally have made it big in the rugby world, but ended up going into singing. Whilst Scottish bloc-voting denied him an X-Factor victory over Leon Jackson, he's still managed a top 3 album to his name, and this rendition of "Phantom Of The Opera" to me is exactly why he deserved to win the show!

The final one we lose today is another that got no votes last round, and I'm rather surprised by it. Okay, it's not the best on the list, but what have Wrexham based dance act K-Klass and their 90s hit "Rhythm Is A Mystery" done wrong?

    Last round we lost:
Funeral For A Friend - Streetcar (4 votes last round, 4 votes to date)
Jem - They (3 votes last round, 5 votes to date)
Goldie Lookin' Chain - Guns Don't Kill People, Rappers Do (3 votes last round, 4 votes to date)
Rhydian Roberts - Phantom Of The Opera (3 votes last round, 4 votes to date)
K-Klass - Rhythm Is A Mystery (3 votes last round, 3 votes to date)

Dustin in "voting Velvet Underground member" shocker!

Seriously, I'm stunned that our biggest fan of classic music is voting out four of the oldest songs on the list!
