Marillion's third album, Misplaced Childhood, became their only No.1 when it was originally released in 1985. Now the subject of a 4 disc deluxe edition, it re-enters the chart at No.62 (1,878 sales)

Marillion’s Misplaced Childhood remaster on single LP and CD
    http://www.superdeluxeedition.com/news/ ... lp-and-cd/
    by Paul Sinclair

The July reissue of Marillion‘s 1985 album Misplaced Childhood was a treat, but there was no opportunity to buy single disc remasters on CD, and in particular, vinyl. This has now been rectified and as promised at the time, in December the remastered album will also be made available on a single vinyl record and a single CD.

While Steven Wilson created the 5.1 surround mix for the box set, the 2017 remaster was done by Michael Hunter. Of course, I’m sure many SDE readers were pleased to pick up the 4CD+DVD package, so the single CD is likely to be of limited interest, however I’m not convinced everyone wanted to plump for the big 4LP vinyl box, with the live material, so a new single LP remaster of the album might be very welcome, especially at the UK pre-order price of just £14 (only 79p more than the CD, at the time of writing!).

The single disc CD and vinyl LP remasters of Misplaced Childhood will be released on 1 December 2017.

    Marillion / Brave deluxe editions
    http://www.superdeluxeedition.com/news/ ... -editions/
    by Paul Sinclair

4CD+blu-ray offers Steven Wilson 5.1 mix • 5LP vinyl box
In March, Rhino will reissue Marillion‘s 1994 album Brave as a 4CD+Blu-ray deluxe edition and a 5LP vinyl set.

The deluxe set with the optical discs features a brand new stereo remix by Steven Wilson, the original 1994 mix by Dave Meegan, and two CDs of Live At La Cigale performance from ’94. The audio has been newly remixed by Michael Hunter, and features a performance of Brave in its entirety. This is now the complete performance as it has been expanded with nine unreleased tracks

The blu-ray contains 96/24 audio of Steven Wilson’s remix of the album in stereo and 5.1 surround sound, as well as promo videos for the album’s singles and a new documentary about the album that includes concert footage and interviews with the band.

The 5LP vinyl box contains the Steven Wilson stereo mix on the first two records and the live performance on the remaining three LPs.

Both the CD/Blu-ray and vinyl versions of Brave are accompanied by illustrated booklets that recount the story behind the album.

Brave will be reissued on 9 March 2018

Marillion’s Royal Albert Hall performance set for cinema release
    http://teamrock.com/news/2018-02-28/mar ... ma-release
    by Scott Munro

Marillion’s set from London’s Royal Albert Hall in October last year is to be screened at select UK cinemas in March - as home release is confirmed

Marillion have announced that their set at London’s Royal Albert Hall from October last year will hit cinemas next month.

The landmark performance took place at the iconic venue on October 13, 2017, with tickets selling out in minutes – the fastest selling gig in the band’s 37 year history.

Now, on March 26, the concert will be screened at the Everyman Cinemas at Kings Cross, Esher, Chelmsford, Leeds, Birmingham and Bristol.

The band say: “They are still waiting for council approval for four of the venues but two of them are on sale now! The councils have rated it 18 – long story – so we are sorry that no one under that age will be able to attend.

“The cinema site will be updated when they get the approvals through. Some of the Web fan clubs around the world are also in the process of organising some screenings and will probably be in touch with their members shortly.”

It’s also been announced that the concert will be released on Blu-ray, DVD and Special Edition on April 2 via Racket Records, with pre-orders set to begin in mid-March.

Further details will be revealed in due course.

Marillion will launch a deluxe edition of their classic 1994 album Brave on March 9 and will embark on a run of UK and Ireland tour dates in April.

Marillion / Clutching at Straws reissue
    http://www.superdeluxeedition.com/news/ ... s-reissue/
September 7, 2018 by Paul Sinclair

    4CD+blu-ray deluxe set • 5.1 mix • Live audio • demos
After the successful reissue of Marillion‘s 1985 album Misplaced Childhood in 2017, Parlophone will reissue the British quintet’s fourth studio album Clutching at Straws in November.

Like its predecessor, the album was produced by Chris Kimsey and it delivered three top forty hits (‘Incommunicado’, ‘Sugar Mice’ and ‘Warm Wet Circles’). Clutching At Straws would turn out to be Marillion’s final studio release with original singer Fish.

Clutching at Straws will be reissued as a 4CD+blu-ray deluxe edition and a 5LP vinyl box set. Both include a new stereo remix by Andy Bradfield and Avril Mackintosh (Mackintosh was the original mixing engineer for producer Chris Kimsey in Advision studios back in 1987) and a concert recording of the band performing at the Edinburgh Playhouse in December ’87. Some of these live performance have appeared before, on The Thieving Magpie live album, although it should be noted that this is a new mix for 2018 by Michael Hunter.

The 4CD+blu-ray edition adds a disc of demos, most of which were issued on the 1999 two-CD deluxe, although there are four ‘new’ ones are added here (‘Hotel Hobbies/Warm Wet Circles’, ‘Just For The Record’, ‘Torch Song’ and ‘Slàinte Mhath’).

The blu-ray features the stereo remix and a 5.1 mix although not by Steven Wilson this time, but by Bradfield and Mackintosh, again. Fish describes the new surround mix as “truly wonderful”. As a bonus the blu-ray gives you the original mix of the album in stereo and a a few extra mixes. Video content includes a new 60 minute documentary featuring Mick Wall interviewing the band and discussing the album, plus promo films for the three singles.

Clutching at Straws will be reissued on 23 November 2018.
