    Hm well, if we look at the actual numbers Mariah was bigger than M in the USA- for sure. However, it’s fair to say Confessions was waaay bigger worldwide. Hung Up and Sorry were pretty big all around the world.

    With that Nutcracker solo, I think Dark Ballet might be the closest we ever get.

    Too bad we only have Santa Baby - imagine if she had done an actual Christmas bop in her heydey.

    Yeah but surely there must be a way to determine which album actually sold more worldwide (USA included)?

    I don't know what is the cutout date for IFPI charts, but their 2005 year end report has Mimi at 7.7m, Confessions at 6.3m. Mimi was released in March, Confessions in November.

    Shame so many artists do their own version of Santa Baby. Back in the 80's I only ever heard Madonna's version on the radio.

    Apparently, Brigitte Nielsen bragged about sleeping with Sean Penn while he was married to Madonna on the Talk today. What a slut.

    Who's That Girl Tour was the very first time I saw Madonna live.
    And I always prefered the tv-broadcast (Turin, Italy) way more than the mess they released on VHS.

    It's simple!

    Chartmasters:

    Madonna - Confessions On A Dance Floor - 9,325,000 copies sold worldwide
    Mariah Carey - The Emancipation Of Mimi - 8,600,000 copies sold worldwide
    Britney Spears . Michael Jackson . Madonna . Metallica . Radiohead . Led Zeppelin . Oasis . Beyoncé . Soda Stereo

    If singles and streaming are included and counted as album equivalent, you have the following according to Chartmasters:

    COADF = 12,447,000
    TEOM = 10,193,000
