It also baffles me when people complain about the album being 'dark' to such a heavy extent. Visually, semantically and metaphorically, yes, the album is dark themed, but it terms of the songs on a literal level, there isn't THAT much darkness there; the lyrical expression makes up for it.

    good points. Totally agreed.

After the second single was released, I bought her debut. I also purchase her ablums released after that and enjoyed all of them. Personally for me, Rated R is now my favorite. SOme of the best albums come from going through some things and being in a dark place. For example, Janet's Velvet Rope and Mary J. Blige's My life, while not necessarily my favs were often though of as some of those artists best work of all time at one point.

As an overall album, I'd say it was stronger than 'Music of the Sun' and 'A Girl Like Me', just single choices aren't as clear or obvious on this project.

Rated R is definitely her best album to date. I don't want her to make a GGGB part 2. A mix of GGGB and Rated R would be nice. Also, I want her to write like she did on Rated R. Moreover, this should not be released to soon. She has to take her time to create something amazing. Also the Rated R era isn't over yet in my opinion. I'd say...new album in the 2nd half year of 2011

    Agree.

Then, I can't stand that ''devil worshipping'' thing.. Even if she is(not only her, but you know what I mean), I don't see the problem in it! I don't believe in god, so what? Am I a terrible person because of that?! People may choose to believe in whatever they want and everyone should respect that! Why don't artists get criticized when they put angels and wings and halos in videos?? They are worshipping God/Jesus!! Why isn't that equally bad?

I know I shouldn't be posting this here, but I just wanted to express my opinion

Agree. Rihanna has some of the worse fillers ever recorded. It's like Def Jam seriously only looks for 4 or 5 single-worthy songs and the rest they could care less about.

It sickens me Ne-Yo can stick a terrible track like "Stupid In Love" on there and get paid probably $150,000 from royalties if the CD sells 3 million.

As with all my CDs on my iTunes, I download only the good songs and delete the bad ones. Please believe Wait Your Turn, Cold Case Love, and Stupid In Love are long gone from my database.

I don't think there is any fillers on Rated R (for me atleast)
I like all of them (even Mad House)

Thats what Eminem said about, his collabo with Rihanna:

Rihanna – “It’s one of those tracks that I felt like only she could pull it off.”

    TOTALLY agree with that.

You go from songs like "Rude Boy", "G4L", and "Te Amo" to empty ballads like Cold Case Love and Stupid In Love. Stupid In Love drives me crazy. By the end of it im in somebody's corner biting my nails.

Can someone tell me why we have this topic?
There's talk about Rated R, there's talk about the Eminem collabo, I don't see ANY talk about the new album?

I know but we're talking about everything to do with Rihanna except that.
This thread just seems a bit redundant. I was reluctant to keep it open and now I see why.

    Well, thats funny...

Bc in the "Sasha Fierce" thread.

People talk about the rumoured jeezy collabo, alicia keys, post candid pictures, post movie roles etc..

And we cant talk about an Eminem collabo???

    Okkkk
