I will forever "hate" Mariah for not performing Lead the Way!

Come on, Mariah, you know that song is better than most of the songs from the Mimi eras!

I don't know if it's just me, but the more I listen to Mariah's old stuff, the less excited I get with the hype towards the new eras.

I mean, I was listening to "Lead the Way" and "Bringin' on the Heartbreak" right before "I Want to Know What Love Is" leaked, and I was really excited as to how Mariah's take on that Foreigner classic will be. When it leaked, I was so disappointed.

Bring back the "Lead the Way" calibre of vocal performance!

I want Lead The Way vocals too but i wasnt disappointed with I Wanna Know What Love Is. Glitter has a lot of great ballads which are classics.

For me, I Want to Know What Love Is had no chilling climactic part.

Climactic parts from Mariah ballads in the 2000s:
    1. Lead the Way (long note)
    2. Bringin' on the Heartbreak (whistle and choir singing chorus)
    3. Through the Rain (bridge until last chorus)
    4. Never Too Far (long vocal belting note and long high note at the end)
    5. We Belong Together/I Stay in Love/Don't Forget About Us (long note and high vocal belting in last chorus)

An underrated album that got and gets heat just because it's associated with the terrible movie (it's a guilty pleasure though ).

It's Mariah's second best album of the noughties IMO. Emancipation comes first of course. Glitter has some fantastic ballads:

Never Too Far - An overlooked gem. The acapellaish intro, the easy listening melody, the outstanding belting... just a wonderful song. The video is my favorite scene of the movie.

Lead The Way - One of the best songs of her entire career. The infamous, astoundingly long note towards the end is beyond words. I love that it's piano driven. And I also appreciate that Mariah likes this and stands up for Glitter (the album) by making reference to this song.

Reflections (Care Enough) - The lyrics here are so touching. One of her best efforts lyrically simply because the words are full of emotion and the topic described is something different from her usual stuff. The melody is also charming, same goes for the vocals.

These three ballads make the album for me because they are the last ballads Mariah created in the traditional, pure sense.

Other highlights of the album are "All My Life" and "Want You". Both songs have great vocals and 80's cool vibe.

"If We", "Don't Stop (Funkin' 4 Jamaica)" and "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life" are OK.

"Didn't Mean To Turn You On" is weak and dull since it's too long IMO. "Loverboy" and its remix is extremely vile, un-melodious, overproduced, noisy and all in all just hideous. I still listen to it at times but I doubt I'll ever appreciate it.
If you don't get on the ride, you won't experience the adventure...

I think im the only one in the world who ranks Loverboy higher than Lead The Way.

The video for "Never Too Far" could be good if they haven't cut the last part of the song. First time I heard "Loverboy" I was like "WTF I thought this song was called Heartbreaker"

Glitter was a milestone in her career! The shocking and negative point was her breakdown and the bads reviews, the positive part was the music and the merchandise.

I will always love the glitter era, because Virgin actually did a good job promoting it. Glitter's music is one of the best Mariah's ever done, except for 2 songs where she's not the lead artist (If We, Don't Stop).

I think the Glitter soundtrack had good reviews, but it just flopped so bad, and then the movie came.
