OK, next chart chapter - the last 10 years Again only the official charts (no radio - which excludes some countries). I'm afraid this time A-ha don't have much to present in a way of chart-topping stuff, in fact only in two countries (Norway & Germany) they've had a substantial fan base (which is still something by today's standards). That's why you won't be seeing lots of Top-10 entries from them.

    So, here goes:

Well i think the last 10 years have been good. All their four studio albums have been certified with gold and platina status in severel countries and not Only in Norway and Germany, there have been very sucessfull in Russia and the baltic states to and the 2 greatest hits albums have done very well. Since 2005, A-ha have also doing great in the UK and you dont mention that. Gold with the Singles collection, silver with analogue, silver again with Foot of the mountain and the last realese will probably be silver very soon as it enterd at place 10. I Mean, comparing them to KIzz, Blondie and Duran Duran that where even bigger then A-ha under their prime, they dont sell anything these days

But why are you posting charts from Poland? I have been told that there are no real official sales chart from Poland here a number of times. Also, where do you get the single charts position from Denmark? If those are corrects, a few a-ha singles have their peak position in Denmark but i never seen those statics before

They've been good but not brilliant like the latter half of the 80's. Actually they were more of an album band this time round as the albums charted in more countries than the singles.
The UK success is good but strange - I don't see a reason for it. Rather mysterious one.

As for the charts, Polish chart is a radio one, but it's the most established in Eastern Europe (running since 1982!) and really represents the country. I've read it is sales/airplay.
    Danish charts are from http://www.danskehitlister.dk/

Yes, your irght they bacome more of an album act, but i guess thats pretty naturall for a band getting older and more respected, even a possitive, not that the album sales in the 80s where bad eather off course. Anyway, FOTM actully charted at place 3 in Russia also and went platina. The Uk comeback is a bit strange, Since lifelines in 2002 bombed at place 72 in the album chart i thought they where finnish there, but since then, all their realeses have done good there. Correct me if iam wrong, but besides bands like Depeche mode witch of course are bigger, shouldent A-ha be concider as one of the top 3 most sucessfull pop bands from the mid 80s that where active over the last decade?

Pet shop boys latest album dident do well, Duran Duran hd very low sales for severel of their albums but i might forget some names. I just think its intresting as many still se a-ha as kind of One hit wonders.

At the Rock in Rio II festival in January 1991, A-ha shocked the international entertainment press by drawing an audience of 198,000 at Maracanã stadium for their top-billed evening concert—a Guinness World Record for paying audiences. In contrast, the other performers (George Michael, Prince, and Guns N' Roses) drew 60,000 each.(...)"

Obviously, you're reffering to the Radio 3 chart, which really is the longest running radio chart in Poland. This radio usually strongly supports all A-ha releases, hence the exceptionally good chart performance. However, this chart is neither based on airplay nor sales. It's entirely a voting system that affects the chart results. Moreover, it doesn't represent the country, especially these days. And it's always been like that. There has been a short list of songs on which you could vote. Many extremely popular hits or artist never had a chart entry due to the rules and limitations.

    228000 (A-ha) taken from 4,5 million is only 5,07%,
29 million (Michael Jackson) out of 300 million is actually 9,67%.

    That's not many copies sold!

It amazing how well they did in the Irish charts in the 80s.I've Been Losing You and Manhattan Skyline both made No.3

Many extremely popular hits or artist never had a chart entry due to the rules and limitations.[/quote:2mrkjh1x]

Interesting info, Dariusz, but do you mean that chart doesn't represent the country at all? And how it was in the 80's? And, is there any other all-Polish chart other than that?
