Shame that Billboard rounded the figures even more to just 1 decimal so we can’t see the increase from last year in many cases.
I think it’s time Billboard starts including SPS totals for both albums and songs in these Ask Billboard recaps.
And, by the way, are we sure these on-demand figures are audio only? Or they include YouTube as well?
I think they do include video streams as well. That figure for BR seems too high for audio only considering it’s at 275M (global) on Spotify.
Edit: They do.
“Currently, Billboard has two defined types of streaming plays for the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart (and our other genre-specific hybrid songs charts): on-demand (such as Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube) and programmed (such as Pandora and Slacker Radio)”
So, only with songs from that article,
Million Reasons:
Sales: 1,100,000
On-Demand Streams: 234,000,000
=
2,660,000
Still certified 1xPlat
Alejandro
Sales: 2,630,000
On-Demand Streams: 103,000,000
=
3,317,000
Still certified 2xPlat
Born This Way
Sales:4,3000,000
On-Demand Streams: 158,000,000
=
5,353,000
Still certified 4xPlat
Telephone
Sales: 3,500,000
On-Demand Streams: <103 million
Certified 3xPlat
It needs at least 75 million streams to be 4xPlat eligible, which it has.
LoveGame
Sales: 2,670,000
On-Demand Streams: <103 million
Certified 2xPlat
It needs at least 55 million streams to be 3xPlat eligible, which I’m sure it has.
Always Remember Us This Way
Sales: 248,000
On-Demand Streams: 71,000,000
=
721,000
Not certified
I'll Never Love Again
Sales: 226,000
On-Demand Streams: 66,000,000
=
666,000
Not certified
Add to those MTN, that should be Platinum by now (certified Gold).
Perfect Illusion, that should be Platinum by now (not Certified).
Shallow it's close to 1.8 million SPS. It will be 2xPlat eligible in 2 weeks.
She's at least 9 million undercertified, singles-wise, for RIAA.
Right now she has 61 million singles certified. 10th in the best digital singles artists list.
With 70 million she'd climb to #6.

I’ll never understand why Interscope isn’t more interested on buying certifications for their artists (Gaga). For example, Capitol Records are very interested on buying certifications for Katy Perry’s work (They recently certified Dark Horse) and even more recent artists, when their work is eligible for some type of RIAA certification, they will buy it! It’s not about how expensive a certification is, it only costs $350! If i was an artist, i’ll buy it myself.

Don't even wanna start with the fact that, in 2019, TF, TFM and BTW are still certified based on sales only (and even TF is 3xPlat with 4.8M in pure sales alone!!!)
Bobby, make your job, darling.

Did they forget Telephone in the list of most streamed songs? No way has it been streamed less than Paparazzi, BTW, Alejandro

Doesn't make sense to me either as it definitely has more streams than at LEAST Paparazzi (80m more on Youtube and 90m on Spotify alone)and Born This Way (70m Youtube and 55m on Spotify). Alejandro leads on Youtube with 40m but is behind with 75m on Spotify.

Yes, probably their mistake.
