Gosh, I loved Crayons and I think I still got it on my iPod somewhere. Was my summer jam a few years ago.

I love how she looks like Kelly Rowland on the "Crayons" cover despite being 30 years older than her. Extreme Photoshop!

My mum and dad always played "Another Place And Time" in the car and for years I imagined Donna Summer was white because of that sleeve! :-?

Her best three songs I'd say were "I Feel Love" (obv.), "This Time I Know It's For Real" and "Love's Unkind" and I did really like "To Paris With Love" from last year!

I thought her comeback album, "Crayons" was really good. She really covered a lot of genres in that album. My favourite was the hip-hop influenced "The Queen Is Back". she put them lesser chicks in their place with that song!

I picked up "The Journey: The Very Best Of Donna Summer" around 2004 when Beyoncé's "Naughty Girl" came out, out of curiosity and I've been hooked ever since.

Donna is criminally underrated. Granted she was easily the most successful female of the disco era and had success in the 80's and 90's, but she's truly one of the great divas IMO.

Bad Girls is nothing short of a masterpiece album, The Wanderer showed she could rock, Another Place And Time was one of the most fun SAW albums, Crayons was a great comeback, and everything in between.

On The Radio was also perhaps the first "megamix" album as well.

Crayons is one of my favourite albums EVER. It should have been her 'Believe'.

right now I'm addicted to "Grand Illusion" off her Wanderer LP, probably the weirdest thing she's done in her entire career, closer to Bjork than Donna Summer.

I was addicted to "Stop Me" from The Wanderer last week for no reason....

She does sing "Grand Illusion" almost like she's parodying an Asian though....

The Wanderer really is one of her best albums, and very underrated. It was a glimpse of Donna the new wave rock chick, too bad Geffen refused to release I'm A Rainbow and made her work with Quincy Jones instead.

I don't get why she isn't ranked with the "Diva" of the industry. "I Feel Love" changed music and so did some of her other songs. She was also one of the first black women to have success on MTV. 5 Grammys. Mega hits around the world. ect... I think Patti said it right "Underrated"... She paved the way for Beyonce, Rihanna, Madonna, Whitney, Gaga ect... Not meantioned on VH1 Greatest Artist, Yet to be inducted into "Hall of Fame". Grammy Hall of Fame ect...

A friend and I were actually just having a lengthy discussion about her on Facebook. We both agree that Donna's been short-sighted over the years as a "Greatest Hits" act when pretty much every album between A Love Trilogy to I'm A Rainbow are actually meant to be heard as entire albums, because each album was its own fully realized project and some of the best tracks she recorded were never hits.

So many memorable tunes from her. I have the 2004 Very Best Of like Star and it's a good sampling. MacArthur Park is my all time favorite of hers because it's a great song in general and she truly added a great twist to it.

The recent stuff from Crayons is also fun to dance to. Just a heck of a dance artist. Would recommend the Donna Summer Anthology album as one to get for anyone curious.

Here are three of my favourite live performances by Donna.

    O Holy Night

Donna performed this festive favourite on the Solid Gold Christmas TV Special in December 1982 ~ she went on to record the song for her Christmas Spirit album, but for me this version is much better

    Papa Can You Here Me

Donna sings Streisand at the 1984 Academy Awards ceremony ~ magic

    The Star Spangled Banner

Donna sang America's national anthem at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in July 1999 ~ this is up there with Whitney's rendition, IMO
